i think that killing a dragon should have catastrophic nuclear-fallout level environmental consequences tbh. their blood should scorch and wither the earth with fire and poison, the toxic fumes released as they decay should choke the land and all nearby living creatures, and the entire landscape where they fell should be transformed into a blighted wasteland where bleached leviathan bones loom upwards out of the ground as a warning that can be seen from miles away, the boundary markers of an exclusion zone.

i also think that it would be wonderfully ironic if those who sought the fame and glory of the title of 'dragonslayer' only ended up with the bitter, enduring reminder of the devastation they're responsible for. this is not a place of honor. no highly esteemed deed is commemorated here.

Okay but why is no one talking about how, yes, Neil is a little creep who takes great pleasure being an ass to the FBI agents, but he was also stalling to give Jean time to get himself under control. He kept his mouth running so that Jean didn’t have to. He kept the attention on himself because he knew he had some level of protection as an informer and Jean did not and was a) covered in wounds from a fight, making him suspicious and b) just told his sister had been sold and killed. He was also already unwell when Neil picked him up, having just been triggered to the moon and back.

Jean also had no experience talking to the press or the police and he would have struggled and possibly fucked up given how upset he was—as we’ve all seen—and Neil knew this and ran with it. Jean wouldn’t let him get him out of there—which he was willing to risk himself to do—so Neil protected him the only way he knew how.

You wouldn’t even be able to pry my love for Neil Josten out of my cold dead hands.

“They saved my life, and I’ll save theirs.”

What a send off. I’ve been replaying those last moments in my head for days.

[Image ID: three gifs of Evan Buckley, Chimney Han and Maddie Buckley from 9-1-1 episode 6.18, “Pay It Forward” :

GIF 1: Buck sighing in relief as a new ambulance unit pulls up, breathing hard as he turns to look down at Chim, who nods up at him.

GIF 2: Maddie listening with bated breath as Buck’s voice crackles over her radio, tears glimmering in her eyes as they roll up with relief, her mouth pursing in an attempt to hold back tears. The text reads, “Dispatch. I’ve got Firefighter Han.”

GIF 3: Maddie steeling herself, pushing past the tears as she firmly responds to Buck, saying “Copy that.” Her mouth briefly forms into a pout.
