Summary: There are plenty of ways to say “I love you” without actually saying the words. It takes Loki too long to realize that.
Warnings/Notes: This is kind of a long one, so I posted it a little bit earlier than usual for those of you who are able to read this before bed? I know it’s been done again and again, even within the context of these Lullabies, but I just felt like writing a little collage of moments in your relationship with Loki. This one was heavily inspired by several “Ways to Say ‘I Love You’” posts I’ve seen floating around Tumblr. The title is from an ee cummings poem, but I’m not sure it’s wholly related. It just got stuck in my head and wouldn’t let me go! Happy Valentine’s Day. If I could, I would give each and every one of you one of those grade-school Valentines and a heart lollipop. (Ooh, though now I’m toying with the idea of offering to send people postcards from Loki, if they’re willing to give me their addresses. Would there be any takers?!)
Before you, Loki had never put much thought to the multitudes of ways there were to say something like ‘I love you’. Why would he? Not once in his long, long life had such sentiment done him any favors. In fact, from where he stood, it seemed a lot like the damned emotion caused more trouble than it could possibly be worth. It got people hurt. It lost them battles. It tied them up in knots inside and never offered any kind of relief.
At its best, love was foolish nonsense. At its worst, it toppled entire realms.
When I say I want to have short slow burn fanfics this is exactly what I mean omg this was so cute

Loki: *smirks* You know, it’s tradition on Asgard to give the prince a kiss on his birthday.
Y/n: *gives him a small kiss on the lips*
Loki: *chuckles* A real kiss, my love.
Y/n: *blushes* I-i don’t know if–
Loki: Shhh, I’ll show you how it’s done~. *grabs your chin to lift your head up and gives you a slow but deep passionate kiss*
Y/n: *blushes heavily from the intensity of the kiss but melts into it as you kiss him back*
Peter: *sitting across from them, looking away awkwardly* …I don’t have to do that too right?
Loki: *breaks the kiss to look at him, raising a brow* Of course you don’t, obviously.
Peter: *gives a relieved sigh* OHTHANKGOD

Y/n: Am I being abducted?
King Loki: *smiles* Yes, you are.

King Loki: YAY FOR ABDUCTION! *starts to run now while laughing wickedly*
Loki: NOT “YAY”! BRING Y/N BACK THIS INSTANT! *chases after them*

Being shorter than Loki makes me think of things…Like how we would kiss for example.
So my possible means of getting him to kiss me are options:
A) Telling him I want to kiss him so he’ll lean down to let me kiss him.
B) Climbing up on top of something to reach him better and then finally kiss him.
C) Do a cute little hop up in front of him as he just chuckles and says “Yes yes, I know what you want, my little rabbit”. Then he’ll use his magic to lift me up from the ground, so we can happily kiss without much struggles in the moment.
Knowing me tho, I’ll do option C a lot. pfff

Considering I’m only 5'2 and he’s 6’ 4 hmm.. 🤔 probably either pounce on him while wrapping my arms and legs around him then kiss him or grab his tie (if he’s wearing the black suit) and yank him down to my level to kiss him.
