As someone who was recently in Fukui, this isn't even scratching the surface of how mad the town is for dinosaurs.

For example, here is the outside of the train station:

The last dinosaur has a crab, because the region is known for seafood.

"i don't like long books" read short ones. "i don't like prose" try poetry. "i don't want to pay for a book i might not even like" go to your local library.

reading is the hobby that you make it; make it something you like.

seeing this mentioned in the tags, but for the love of all that is good and holy please stop making yourself read books you don't like. you know yourself better than any curation or recommendation, if you're not enjoying it, you can put it down.

reading for leisure is supposed to be fun. you can't have fun if you're actively robbing yourself of joy while you do it!

For real! And also if you don't want to read the whole book, that's fine! Skip around! Go back and forth! Read the same chapter 50 times!

There's absolutely no reason to feel trapped while reading for leisure. Do whatever you want!

one time when I was a barista I was telling my coworker that I suddenly really missed cows. I used to work with cows all the time back home and then I moved away and suddenly it had been four years and nary a cow.

15 minutes later this old guy came up to the counter with his address written on a napkin & he said “me and my wife have a whole herd of dexters and a couple of new calves. come on over any time”

so after work I was like ok fuck it & I drove to the address and I parked at at the gate & I walked down the driveway to the barn and this woman was like “oh my husband told me you might stop by! come see our cows” and she introduced me to every single cow. made my whole week.

By existing as a citizen in and paying taxes to the imperial core, we automatically hold complicity in imperialist oppression because we are literally footing the bill for it. That is just the basic nature of being born to privilege in systems of oppression in general. We can be disadvantaged and marginalized in every single other consideration and we still have to understand and cope with this, and ensure we leverage it as effectively as possible.

Voting abstinence/sabotage does not absolve us of our responsibility to do everything in our power to lessen harm, but it DOES show that when our personal morals aren't satisfied, we retreat into (imperialist, this time) privilege to 'wash our hands' of the situation and declare it's not our fault and it's not our problem.

In other words “I know the trolley is gonna kill more people this way but the lever is icky and it’s more important that my hands don’t feel gross than it is that fewer people die. I’m a good person, watch me continue to shovel fuel into the trolley and preach against its trajectory while doing absolutely nothing about it”.
