NOT JIMMY. Β Unfortunately, I have no other choice at this point. I cannot for the life of me regain my Jimmy muse due to both rl reasons and one former friend of mine. Β Maybe I’ll return to him one day but, for now, he’ll be on hiatus.

Seriously though. Don’t be afraid of your character’s negative traits. Don’t be afraid of the parts of them that make them look ugly. Embrace those qualities, explore them, involve them in your writing. Maybe your character is a hero, but maybe they’re a little arrogant or impatient or rude or petty about certain things. Talk about it. It doesn’t make your character any less of a hero, it just makes them who they are. No one is infallible. No one is perfect. We all have bad traits as well as good ones. It’s what makes a character three dimensional. It’s what makes them seem real. Stop trying to hide their flaws under the rug. Bring them into the light. You’d be amazed at the results.
