hc: nathan and skwisgaar are both musically talented but they operate on “instinct”. its difficult for them to convey what they want and theyve got awful communication skills but they generally understand each other. pickles, who is an experienced and multi-skilled musician, helps them convey their intentions the best and fills in the gaps also pickles is the only one who can read music
please tell about your very specific doomstar workout (im compiling a doomstar running playlist but i’m still working on the order)
Here is my very specific Doomstar running workout which I’ve used to train for my hometown’s Firecracker Four Mile Run, a race I’ve run every Fourth for July for the past four years.
The Birth/Fata Sidus Oritur/One of Us Must Die: Start jogging at about 40-55 percent ability.
Magnus and the Assassin-The Fans are Chanting: Gradually build your pace until you are at about 80 percent ability. Adjust your gate to the tempo of each song. Depending on your speed, by the end of The Fans are Chanting you should have run ~a mile to a mile and a half.
Abigail’s Lullaby: Walk.
Some Time Ago: Begin building your pace again as this song picks up speed. You should be at about 70 percent ability by the time Toki comes in.
The Duel: GO HARD. This is the song where you break out into sprints. Every time the song switches between Toki and Skwisgaar start sprinting harder–between 80-90 percent ability. I structure my runs so at this point I am on a track, but if that’s not an option try to do this part on a flat clear surface. Push yourself as hard as you can run until Toki fucks up, then come down to a jog at about 30 percent ability. Begin building again when Skwisgaar says, “I wants you in dis bands!”
I Believe: This song is PERFECT for a steady jog. Figure out what works for you: I have a long stride so it’s better for me to hit the ground on every other beat. But you can easily take shorter steps to hit it on every beat.
A Traitor Amongst Them: Walk.Training/Do it All for my Brother/Before You Go: Steadily rebuild your pace until you’re running at about 50 percent ability.
The Answer is In Your Past: Build to about 70 percent ability.
The Depths of Humanity: More hard sprints starting at “Beware….” Build to about 90 percent ability. Pause to reflect on how proud you are of Skwisgaar during this song. Look wistfully in the middle distance. This is critical.
Givin’ it Back to You: Another steady job at about 40-60 percent ability.
The rest of the soundtrack: Freestyle baybee! Sometimes I’ve had the energy to go extreme hard on Morte Lumina through Blazing Star, sometimes I need to walk the whole thing. Know your body’s capabilities and adjust as needed. I can cover about 3-4 miles with this workout depending on my pace. Keep in mind I was a very good county and state ranked sprinter in high school, so I’m less concerned with covering distance than I am with using my speed in shorter bursts in order to build endurance. If that doesn’t work for you that’s fine! Doomstar is a great work out soundtrack regardless. I’ve also used it to lift. Have fun!!!!! 🏃♀️
Reminder to myself to make a Dethklok Ultimate Running Playlist.
Nathan always hyping up Skwisgaar is so special to me Skwisgaar will say the most insane combination of words ever known to man and Nathan will just be like “yesssssssss exactttttttlyyyyyyy.”
Tried to post this before but I don’t think it posted
Audios from the April 9th Maryland show had an absolute blast
Skwisgaar doodle
the best thing about that clip of skwisgaar talking about eclipses is that it marks the return of info dumping skwis....a relic lost to times (the early mtl seasons)
i hope brendon makes him say more stupid facts during this tour i love skwisgaar most when he thinks he's knowledgeable about shit he's such a stupid little idiot i love him
