{*walks in 15 minutes late with Starbucks, a dead meme, and a pinned post* Hey, all. What’s up? Welcome to The Pokédex According to Bill, an ask/headcanon blog from the perspective of Bill (inventor of the storage system) and LH (Lanette, admin of the Hoenn system).

In other words, yes, we take Pokeymans srsly here.

To make your stay more enjoyable, please read the following:

  • Be sure to check the tags to avoid accidentally sending something that’s already been covered. Handy tag list/guide to searching the blog: https://bills-pokedex.tumblr.com/taginfo
  • The blog follows a mashup of every canon in existence. (Bill has green hair and an English accent but his gameverse’s past. Just roll with it.) Moreover, the world is treated as if it’s just the real world with magic animals and utopian politics, so real-world stuff may be referenced here and there. The resources tag has background info if you’re confused.
  • Mythicals are only rumored to exist. Legendaries can be encountered and caught only if you’re a strong trainer or pure of heart (preferably both). Mewtwo and Genesect are (government) conspiracies. In short, your character probably did not catch that legendary and definitely did not catch that mythical (unless the ask in question is funny or can be answered hilariously). Please do not ask for care or behavior tips for legendaries/mythicals.
  • If you’re uncomfortable with weird sci-fi, TF, heavily shippy sideplots, or some combination of the above, please blacklist the powerverse tag.
  • The mun and characters are all adults, but this blog is SFW. Please do not send NSFW asks or submissions, or asks that focus on your kinks. (This includes these commonly asked topics: gore-heavy whump, poképhilia/questions about having intimate relationships with your own pokémon, ageplay.)
  • The mun is slow af to respond, and we tend to get a lot of asks, so if your ask isn’t answered, there’s a good chance the mun let the askbox get flooded again. orz Check back later, or send a message via Discord to see what’s up. Sorry!

Thanks for reading, and enjoy your stay!}

For those of you interested in the results—it looks like all of you have excellent taste. Congratulations!

Yes, all of our readers have excellent taste. Including the sizable number of people who voted for the sixth option on this poll. —LH

Oh, how strange, I only see five options here. —Bill

This poll ends in just over a day and a half, and you bet we're taking it seriously!

Instead of answering asks, apparently. —LH

Now now. Sometimes, they remember pikachu exists.

These options are kinda lacking.

Eevee is okay and all, but have you considered EEVEE? [aka Eevee XXXL size]

I was very close to regretting not being able to edit polls, but then I realized that including such an option would be far too powerful. EEVEE would skew the results in its favor; no one would be able to resist that level of fluff. It would be the vanilla extract of this poll.

Hey Bill! Do you know any Sandile factoids? My partner won’t believe me they’re JUST AS cute as their Eevee.

Though I'm personally inclined to agree that eevee are particularly cute pokémon with very few rivals, I'll admit sandile has its own merits and that it is, in fact, adorable as well.

That said, factoids!

  • Sandile are actually quite social, which is a trait they gradually lose as they move up their evolution chain. That is, sandile often live in large packs, while krookodile with with only a few fellow krokorok at a time, and krookodile, being highly violent and territorial, will be mostly solitary. This is because sandile are very much like many other first-stage pokémon: they're weaker and thus rely on numbers in order to survive.
  • This is especially true when it comes to hunting, as their favored prey is trapinch, a pokémon gifted with the ability to craft deadly sand traps, the ability to bite through tough material (including sandile skin), and, often, equally territorial and protective flygon guardians.
  • Though they're ground-types who normally live in sand dunes, sandile will often migrate to freshwater bodies, such as rivers and oases, in order to mate and lay their eggs. In fact, the edges of such bodies of water are often easy places to find female sandile, as the females will stick around the nests they've made there until their offspring have hatched, then migrate back inland with their young.
  • Why would ground-types lay their eggs near water? Two reasons. First, it's an easy source of food (namely, magikarp) and water. Second, the pokémon that often live in or close to these bodies are also easy protection against the pokémon most likely to forage their eggs. (That is, the biggest predators for sandile eggs and hatchlings are darumaka and . . . trapinch. Water-types—or at least the cacnea that migrate to and from sources of water—make for excellent bodyguards against one or both of these.)
  • The rumor that sandile live in the sewers of Castelia City is just that: a rumor.
  • The idea that they've become an invasive species to certain parts of Vivax, however . . . apparently less so. Despite the fact that half of Vivax is a swamp. Make of this what you will regarding Vivax Man and whatever happened here.

{Admittedly, I didn't have the energy to plan out a cute scene involving Bill and Lanette because my two idiot children in an original novel recently took over all my energy for gremlin-minder shipfics, but by all means, feel free to drop into the inbox because you know what day it is. 8)}

{Hey, so, it's less than two hours before midnight here, and I just wanted to say thank you to all y'all for your patience this year. It's been a heck of a one over here, as you know from my last legit communication, but here's to 2023, amirite? Point is, thank you all for sticking with this blog. It means a lot, and I hope that 2023 is excellent for all of you. <3

Still accepting asks for the next couple of hours! After that, we'll be back on hiatus, but fret not: there will for sure be more content in 2023. Just, ah. We're working on the whole concrete plans thing, haha.}

Happy New Year from Paldea! Mr Jacq did a special lesson on your work yesterday, but he wouldn't say why. I thought maybe its the anniversary of the System going live, but that's not exactly a secret, right?

Happy new year to you as well!

As for that class, very interesting! I must admit I can't imagine why else, so surely, that must be it!

Nice try, Bill, but the first public version of the storage system was released on my birthday, not yours. —LH

Oh, is it July already? —Bill

Hi Bill, parent with their son’s Krookodile again. Fun update: the poor thing is now getting much needed attention (and cuddling) but now it won’t let us into our son’s room unless we offer to give it headpats.

To say the least, mission accomplished.

To be fair, headpats are an excellent form of payment.

Glad to hear this worked out!

Is it physically possible to have 2 of your pokemon mega evolve at once, as long as you have all the necessary stones and bonds. Like if i have sceptile and swampert both with their respective stones and i have a key stone could they in theory both react to mine when activated? I imagine they could but having more than one is just against league rule.

In theory, yes, but it's worth it to note that mega evolution also relies on the bond between trainer and pokémon—that is, mega evolution draws energy from the trainer as well as the required stones and the pokémon itself. Not many people have the stamina to maintain, let alone achieve, more than one mega evolution at a time, so that's really why you rarely see it happen. It's been done, of course, but only one of these stories avoided putting the trainer involved in the hospital.

Paldea student here. Two other students (one of our top students and a newbie) have been acting strange lately, saying things to each other about how they’ve been “sucked into this world” and “put into the body of [the new student’s] rival” even though they’re completely different ranks, and the newbie seems to think the other one is some kind of demon. Have they been possessed by ghost types? Is this just an elaborate prank they’re pulling on us to help the new guy get used to the school? Are they simply roleplaying? I don’t want to pull the cryptid card just yet, but they have been mentioning “glitches”, so…

This depends on how old everyone here is. After all, everyone goes through that "secretly a demon rawr xD" phase, but you usually grow out of it by your late teens.

Unless of course you've stumbled across the furries in your school, at which point it's anyone's guess as to when that'll stop.

Either way, just nod and let them be, anonymous.
