“They are Unknowns.” Asuha replied simply. “Just like their name, I don’t know and don’t want to know more about them. But more specifically, they’re annoying, and we should exterminate them.”

It’s really a half-baked explanation, and Asuha purposely did that because she lacked effort, as always. The creatures with black body and shiny red lines on their body, in various shapes and sizes, began to come from the black-colored sky. Some shaped like ships, some shaped like planes, some also shaped like humans. There’s also one with the size as huge as building with ten floors.

“We only have to defeat them, and the big boss over there.” She pointed a huge woman-like Unknown, except that it didn’t have the face of woman and its height was ten times taller than average adults.

“Got it? Let’s go.”

It’s not like Asuha particularly cared to the grumpy woman who accompanied her, not really. But, any Magical Girls would be happy for receiving Magical Candies after helping people out. Well, Asuha considered that to be troublesome. However, as long as she got the payoff, she didn’t mind to work out just a little bit.

This time, though, the unhappiness felt somewhat unsettling. Like, there’s something wrong.

After checking the amount of her Magical Candies in her possession, she turned to the other female. “Aren’t you supposed to be happy?”

altruistic optimism instantaneously dwindles when a compendious response forthrightly greets her ears. it’s not that she’s disappointed in her taciturn friend. no, that will NEVER be the case. this innocuous sentiment starkly differs in the way that it stems from the prominent absence of fulfillment that undoubtedly pesters the congenial female. quite simply put, she feels dismayed on her BEHALF.
I know. It can take years for us to get answers we want. Time has taught me to be patient. I’m sure you’ll find them eventually.
Image

Years?” She retorted. “Does that mean I have to wait for that long? Geez.”

Even though she appeared indifferent at most of the time, this time was different. This matter meant a lot to her, hence her impatience and her effort in finding the answer she had been seeking. Asuha was never been blessed with sheer amount of patience. It’s only because she always had the right word to counter, and to deny.

And there’s a limit of denying too. “There aren’t much of results. It feels like I’ve been doing nothing. I feel like giving up now.”

// Alright, threads that I have replied are the ones that I am still willing (and have the muse) to continue! It’s really sad to say that I will drop the other threads that I owed a reply but haven’t replied until this point because I lost the muse in writing them.

But, now that I am free from exams and have a month of holiday, feel free to like this post for a starter! As a heads up, I still have my job, so my activities will still fluctuate much, but I will try to spend the holiday by being productive here!

TL;DR whether or not you already have a thread with me, if you’d like for a starter, like this post!

“Hmm, you can say any one of that is definitely included into the Gift Game’s list. Other categories are included as well,  luck, mystery and etc etc. But then, difficulty of any games is pretty much random and you might find yourself having lots of games to accept or decline, they might be easy or tough and it’s up to you for choosing, whether if it’s beneficial or not.” Backing off from an invitation’s not always a cowardice act, but a wise one.
“Heh, some games do offer high amount of risk though.” It’s not just all Games around here, for the certain fact that Demon Overlords of this world must not be taken lightly of. “And, Demon Overlords should be what newcomers would avoid, highlt recommended by Izayoi’s Starter Guide !” However there’s no manually printed guide, just a speech of guide by the teen. “So then, how about a demonstration of a game? To help you further understanding them.”

Even after he had told everything, Asuha still couldn’t imagine the system of Gift Game and how it worked particularly. It seemed to be assorted kinds of game with different systems. Indeed, theoretical explanation didn’t help, as everything in practice might not happen as smoothly as the explanation straight out of the book, or the so-called spoken Izayoi’s Starter Guide, as mentioned by him.

Image

“Saying about the risk will make me even more intrigued.” She wouldn’t back off only because of high risk. Even if it risked her life, that still wouldn’t stop her. Asuha had always yearned for challenge. Things had been pretty peaceful after the end of Unknown’s invasion, to the point it drove her sick. She might be a lazy, apathetic girl at most of the time. However, when she’s really in her spirit, she would look for anything that would pump her adrenaline.

“Good. A demonstration of the game is what I’ve been waiting for.” She took out her guns, one with flame bullets and another with ice bullets. “Now, prove it that Gift Game is going to be as fun as you have explained.”

he listened in silence , the wind rushing down his ears and nearly consuming her voice . lips remained in a thin line , unfaltering as she spoke about her family . pale peridot hues were impossible to read , simply scanning the rolling lands before the town ahead started to peek along the horizon. head slightly lowered when he heard the appreciation – it was almost a thank you , or rather , it was but in a phrase he often didn’t hear .           ❛❛ Gale – ❜❜ he finally spoke after a time , letting his voice carry in the wind . words were becoming as sparse as the amount of trees in these hills . a name was hardly enough to faze the youth , especially someone who wasn’t affiliated with his kin . however , he didn’t care to pry for her name . he remembered people by their faces and a name was simply a title they bore . it wasn’t anything special in his opinion , even if it helped to emphasize individuality .           it was another ten minutes before they reached the border and Gale’s near silent signals had Nimbus slow from a trot to a halt . ❛❛ We can’ go any further than this without some official gettin’ on our backs about it … ❜❜

Asuha didn’t like for being directly honest. It came up as annoying, disturbing, and uncomfortable for her. Even toward her family, she still purposely showed her feelings in vague implication. She wasn’t a girl who would say thank you, you’ve saved my life out loud. She didn’t like it. Even though she got better over time, the difficulty of expressing her feelings directly still remained.

Image

“Gale, huh?” She tried to keep that name in her mind, remembering it. “I’m Asuha. Nice to meet you.” There was a vague smile blossomed on her face, though it’s just a moment before she looked away, her rarely amiable expression was replaced by the indifference yet again.

When Nimbus stopped his tracks, Asuha was wondering why, but she quickly got the reason. “Huh? So we can’t advance further?” She let out a small sigh. “Officials are so troublesome.”

She hopped from Nimbus’ back, decided to continue her journey on foot. “I haven’t seen any familiar faces, so my family might not be around here. I’ll keep searching, though.”

It’s her cluelessness about where she is that, perhaps, is the source of the Owl’s delight. She claps her hands together and steps away from the redhead, obsidian boots tip-tapping against the pavement.

“I suppose it’s better if you don’t know, hm?” It’s always better when the subject at hand is a surprise. This ward in particular has a good number of those. Her toothy grin shrinks to a smile, about as sweet as it is coy. “That said, I believe I’ll be taking my leave as well. Do take care now.”
Image

Asuha only could stare at the other, giving no response when she’s going to take her leave and thus, walking away. Asuha considered that person as suspicious, but her intention was pretty much unknown. Neither their short conversation did help, only adding more questions in her head.

Unfortunately, she was too tired to care about it, despite the fact that she was too tired to shake the conversation away. The redhead then took the opposite way from the suspicious fellow, walking away while couldn’t stop thinking and wondering.

Strange person...” She mumbled in irritation, rather subconsciously.

❝Hopefully nobody noticed it then!❞ She still had hope inside that her keychain would still be hanging around that bench and that nobody picked it up. What would she even do IF her keychain was no longer there? No…. She didn’t even want to think of the possibility of it NOT being there anymore. She needed to stay positive for her own sake and being so negative about it wasn’t going to do a darn thing to keep her hopeful.
Of course she could buy another keychain, there was always that opportunity, but the value of the keychain would be gone. It was a gift from her brother and there was no way she was going to lose it now.  ❝Just lead the way Miss!❞ She declared, a single arm raised into the air as she was ready to start a journey.

“Yeah, yeah.” She responded with a lazy wave of hand, as she made her way to the bench where they keychain was. Presumably, that is. Honestly, Asuha just needed to get this problem out of her system while her energy and effort had been running low. Her steps were slow and steady, but it’s not hard to tell that Asuha seemed to be pretty unmotivated even during walking, for the sake of helping someone.

image

It didn’t take took long for them to arrive, as Asuha took a quick scan at the bench. It was empty. Nothing was there, including the keychain she assumed to be there.

“It’s not here.” She answered simply, and her stoic expression didn’t alter even for a bit. “Guess you have to buy a new one.”

❝ …… Silence passes parted lips, golden hues watching her movements with concern and anticipation mixed into his features. A rise of the brows had gave way to curiosity, he did always seem hesitant when any sort of weapon was in the hands of another - who wouldn’t be worried. ❝ Boredom by firing shots? Perhaps you should pick up hunting as a better hobby if you like firearms. Why? That’s a silly question…. not often you find a random person with a gun. ❞
Image

“Yeah.” Since her brother was probably busy, going somewhere that Asuha could barely care, and she didn’t feel like eating nor playing her phone either, she just went to release shots to some objects as a training. Without harming anyone, of course. She knew her limits well.

“Actually, I’ve considered hunting, but soon I realize that firing animals isn’t just my thing. I’d rather shoot aliens down, but they’d been gone for long.” To Asuha’s relief, and disappointment at the same time. Things had been awfully peaceful, much until Asuha had the need to create little ruckus.

“Oh, really? I think having guns is pretty much normal, for self-defense.”

insouciant acquiescence elicits a solitary nod betokening approval, but the flippant apology summons a salient frown bespeaking artless dissatisfaction to her porcelain countenance. surely the companionless female did not venture to a tranquil safehaven for avid readers purely for the sake of deriving pleasure from a cellular device.
❝ I can’t help but wonder why you decided to play your game HERE of all places.
image

“This place is so peaceful, as you know.” Asuha grinned, but her focus didn’t go astray from the game. She kept playing while talking to the seemingly displeased woman. She’s somewhat pretty good at multitasking when she found it necessary.

“I expected myself to be alone, so I can enjoy the time for myself to the fullest.” Which implying that Asuha didn’t expect for a company. “And if I was alone, I could do anything to my heart’s content.”

importunate incertitude and artless befuddlement had been engendered within the taciturn female when their tumultuous paths had last entwined. connate inquisitiveness compels the ingenious lionheart to deliberate over the existence of those palpable sentiments. have they tarried or have they been quelled?

Asuha, quickly turned her face away from the familiar amiable smile and voice belonged to Rey, hiding her troubles away. Even so, she knew that it’s futile. No matter how much she tried to conceal her emotion, Rey always managed to find out in a way that Asuha couldn’t expect.

“Nah.” She answered in sleazy manner. “It’s not that easy, you know.”

“That’s the only reason I would lead you here, yes.” The statement goes hand-in-hand with a nod, emerald locks bouncing with each bob of her head. It’s a quaint little place– ( on the surface ) –oh yes, and brings back memories aplenty.
Eto steps forward, gesturing Asuha to follow along. The half-ghoul doesn’t have much money to her name, admittedly– all of her credit cards from before her imprisonment have been wiped out, her bank accounts shut down, and her identity more or less expunged.
While her digital expenses are lacking, she more than makes up for it with connections and physical yen.

“When we go to order, we can either eat in or get our stuff to go. Which would you prefer, Asuha-chan?”

She hummed in reply. A little talk didn’t sound bad, she guessed. In this somewhat peculiar--but also ordinary--cafe, they could talk a lot of things, as much as they wanted. Asuha was a little bit curious, noticing Eto’s expression when she looked around the cafe. As if this place seemed to be her...special place, or something?

Well, that was just her guess.

“I prefer to stay here and eat, though. I’m kind of hungry.” And Asuha could be uncharacteristically a glutton when she needed food supplies. “You don’t mind, do you?”
