~*~ Self-Love Soap ~*~
Sometimes, I don’t feel like I have the time or space to do rituals since I live in a shared apartment. I decided to make some soap with the herbs and oils that I needed in order to do some bath magic. I cleaned my space with sage first. While making this soap, I burned a pink candle dressed with lavender essential oil. When mixing the soap with the oils and rose petals, I focused my intent on self-love and chanted:
“I love myself. I am confident, I am beautiful, and I am intelligent. I am worthy of my own love. I am capable, I am radiant, and I will see myself as I am. Confident. Beautiful. Intelligent. Worthy. Capable. Radiant. All that I’ve said is all that I am. All that I am is all that I see. More than a wish and more than a plan, this is my will, so shall it be.”
Ingredients:
- Shea butter melt and pour soap (10 oz)
- Almond oil (1 tsp)
- Rose Petals
- Sweet Orange Essential Oil (7 drops)
- Jasmine Essential Oil (7 drops)
- Chamomile Essential Oil (7 drops)
(For those who don’t make soap, you buy your melt and pour soap base, measure it out and melt it down, mix in your mix-ins, pour into a silicon base, and let it harden).
Made a carpet deoderizer to get some good energy flowing in my bedroom: baking soda, rosemary, basil, peppermint, and cinnamon.

Foodie Friday: Acorn Bread!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup acorn meal - 1 cup flour - 2 tbsp baking powder - ½ tsp salt - 3 tbsp sugar - 1 egg, beaten - 1 cup milk - 3 tbsp oil
1) Heat an oven to 400 degrees (F). As you wait, grease a loaf pan and sift together the dry ingredients.
2) In a separate bowl, combine the wet ingredients. Either in a stand mixer or with your arms, gradually mix in the dry ingredients until a thick batter is formed.
3) Pour the batter into the pan and bake for about 30 minutes!
Chef’s Note: If you can’t find acorn meal, or otherwise don’t wish to order it online, it is possible to make your own! Just be sure to harvest wisely, and to prep the acorns properly so as to avoid bitter flavors and upset stomachs! More information to follow!
Magical Ingredient!
As some know, I live on the Central Coast of California. Here, the weather is lovely and temperate year round, and the hills are perpetually deep green with the leaves of our native coast live oaks. Though the majority of our cuisine here is beef (BBQ being a bit of a staple around here) and seafood, it hadn’t always been that way. Imagine the excitement I had at a young age when I learned that those twisted and ancient branches dropped a food source year round which both the Salinan and the Chumash tribes made use of!
Today, acorns are often swept off of front porches, and especially in this area, they are usually disposed of along with the rest of the green waste. Pounds and pounds of the little nuts go to waste, but they could instead be harvested for a treat that has largely been forgotten throughout Europe and European countries, save for a couple of dishes.
Just in time for Thanksgiving, this particular bread is sweet and nutty, and ideal for a dessert, appetizer, or even a light breakfast! In addition, it’s very healthy and allows us to incorporate the magic of acorns and oak trees in ways we may otherwise overlook!
Like oak trees, acorns and humans have a long relationship. These beautiful trees grow throughout the northern hemisphere, with many different species and variations within the family. As a result, acorns can be found throughout the whole range, and where acorns can be found, humans had consumed them at some point in history. Because they are plentiful, and produced year-round, they were an easy-to-harvest food source, and were highly nutritious after some preparation.
It’s not completely clear how or why we switched over to grain, but the current running idea is that as demand for food rose with growing populations, there were occasionally conflicts over resources. Grain was simpler to carry, easier and quicker to grow, and took very little energy to harvest and prepare. When under attack, it’s a lot more difficult to dig up an oak tree and carry it away than it is to grab a handful of grain to grow.
However, oak trees never lost their significance in lore and history - the Irish Celtic writing system, called “Ogham,” is now linked to tree mythology, and features the Oak as its seventh character, “Dair.” In Irish folklore, the oak was a watcher and protector - a tree which represented nobility, stability, and strength. So much so, in fact, that it was associated with the Dagda, who was the chief of the Tuatha De Danann (the Irish Celtic gods). It was highly venerated by varying other Celtic cultures throughout Europe as well, and even by the Norse, who believed the oak tree to be a connection to the three worlds of the shaman.
One of the most famous stories involving an oak tree surrounds that of “Thor’s Oak.” It was said that a particular community of Norsemen venerated an oak as being sacred to Thor. A Catholic missionary challenged Thor, saying to stop him from cutting it down if he exists. The missionary then took an axe to the tree. A storm broke out and lightning struck the tree, destroying it. That moment, the whole community converted. Though the validity of this tale is left to some debate, it can be taken either way - did the missionary truly put the Norse gods to shame, or did Thor intentionally strike the tree to send a message?
Regardless, the fact that the tree was an oak says a lot about what was being said in the story - the royal nature of the tree, its strength, and its sacred status made it an important symbol of pagan faith in Europe.
In North America, the oak was still an important symbol and useful food source. In one Sioux legend, for example, a hunter who spurns the advances of an enchantress wakes one night to find an oak growing out of his belly, and is trapped in the rapidly growing oak tree until the spirit ruling over thunder and lightning frees him. This provides the oak with a link to magic, as well, which is another feature we see in much of European lore.
Hopping back to Europe, in fact, the oak tree has some association with the faerie -an inherently magical concept. And in some variations of the Arthurian legends, Merlin meets his downfall at the hands of Morgan le Fay, who imprisons him in an ancient oak tree. (Note that this is only in some variations… other variations include a stone tomb as in the Lancelot-Grail and in Le Morte d’Arthur.)
In today’s witchcraft, the oak tree has a long history, but the acorns have their own unique purposes as well. Given that they are plentiful, they are associated with wealth and prosperity. Furthermore, their connection to the oak tree connects them to wisdom and protection.
Place acorns on an altar to attract faerie or to draw luck and prosperity to your home, or simply as an excellent way to help ground your spells. When placed in a window, acorns help ward against negativity and harmful spirits. String acorns on a cord as a necklace or charm to ward against lies and deceit, and to draw wealth and luck.
Holding an acorn, one can also cleanse by using it to help channel away negativity and stagnant energy. Acorns can also be used as a symbol for male fertility, and therefore can be used in charms, bags, or other spells to enhance fertility and promote masculinity in spells where needed.
In kitchen witchery, the acorn is often overlooked for the very reason that few ever consider it to be a food item anymore (I should note, though, that acorns are still consumed in Korea and that it’s possible to acquire acorn soba noodles online) and because it takes some work to ensure that the acorns are leached of all their toxins. However, all of the aforementioned properties can be incorporated into the breads, pancakes, cakes, et cetera that can be made with acorn flour.
Harvesting and Preparing Acorns
If you plan on harvesting and cooking with acorns, be sure to gather at least a gallon of acorns from a safe and pesticide-free location. Take these and place them into a bucket, and pour water into the bucket. Any acorns that float should be removed, as they may contain oak weevils and other parasites.
Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil. Transfer the acorns into the boiling water for about thirty seconds, then immediately remove them. This will help make shelling them easier - using a nutcracker, or hammer and towel, crack open the acorns.
Transfer all of the acorns onto a sheet tray in an even layer, and bake them in an oven for about 20 minutes to a half hour at 250 degrees (F) to dry them out. The nuts themselves will shrink and separate from the shells and inner membranes. From there, you can easily remove the nut meats and save them for preparation.
The next step is incredibly important - it will remove the bitter flavors from the acorns, and will remove all of the tannins which can cause stomach upsets. Place the acorns into a pot, fill it with water, and place over medium heat. Allow the acorns to lightly boil for an hour, then strain in a colander. Repeat this as many times as it takes for the water to come out clear and the acorns no longer have bitter flavor.
At this point, the acorns can be mashed up and dried for grinding into meal, grits, and flour!
These little nuts have been used as a food source for thousands of years, and though it takes a lot of work to prepare them for safe consumption, they are particularly healthy and quite delicious! The history and relationship between oaks and humans is extensive, and filled with magic. So when it comes time for the Samhain season, the Thanksgiving season, or even for a healthy snack, see what kinds of benefits the magic of acorns can bring to you!
May all your meals be blessed! )O(
Earl Grey Shortbread - cookies for prosperity and peace
Here’s a pretty simple recipe for cookies that I make a few times a month for my salon.
1 cup butter (room temp)* 2 loose leaf earl grey tea bags 1 cup confectioners sugar Cream ingredients together until “fluffy” *(if using unsalted butter, add ½ tsp salt. Salted butter: no salt) Add in 2 cups flour little by little until dough forms and fully mixed.
It may be a bit crumbly, but take the dough and press it together, but try not to overwork it.
Split into 2-3 balls and roll into tube shape in a piece of wax or parchment paper and refrigerate for about an hour until firm.
Take out a roll and slice into ½" rounds and put on prepared baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees (Fahrenheit) for about 10 minutes.
When you see a thin golden brown ring around the cookies where they sit on the sheet they’re ready.
To frost, I use confectioners sugar (start out with about ½ cup and add more as needed) and add a little Creme de Violette (Violet liqueur made by Rothman & Winter) and mix until smooth. Should be toothpaste consistency and spread on the cookies.
To clarify, the black tea helps with prosperity, and the bergamot herb has use for drawing out peaceful dispositions. Violets draw out love and happiness. Sugar for sweetening positions and thought processes, and wheat for multiplying and fortifying the other components.
So these cookies are simple to make, delicate in flavor, and make you feel fancy af.
✨Witchy Uses For Tea✨
A good way to unwind and replenish your energy after a spell or ritual is to relax with some tea.
🌱TEA TYPES🌿
- Green tea- fire, passion, healing, love, sexuality
- Oolong tea- reflection, wisdom, concentration
- Black tea- earth, water, strength, stability, energy, cleansing
- White tea- happiness, wisdom, purification (compliments moon energy very well)
- Rose tea: love, compassion, psychic abilities, good luck, protection
- Herbal tea- very versatile; best uses depend on herbs used. Examples are peppermint, spearmint, rooibos, etc.
✨ WITCHY USES 💫
- If you are performing a ritual or spell that involves sending positive energies out into the universe, steep the tea nearby while it is taking place. Drink the tea when you are done- this will allow you to replenish your energies, leaving you less drained
- Brew loose tea and read the tea leaves!
- Drizzle honey into the tea in sigil patterns. Stirring the tea charges it (clockwise if you are attracting something, counterclockwise if you are banishing something) and drinking it activates it!
- Brew your tea with distilled drinking water that has been charged with the sun/moon to give your magic a boost!
- Make your own tea blends to compliment and refine your intent
- Store tea leaves/tea bags near crystal grids to charge them before brewing- the longer you charge and the stronger you brew it, the stronger the magic will be
- You can add things like lemon, ginger, cinnamon, cayenne, and give your magick some oomph
- You can spread tea leaves (moist, dry, used, unused, etc) as offerings, mix them into or add them on top of the soil to help plants grow (bonus if they’ve been used in healing or growth spells!), add them to melted wax for a personalized candle, etc; the possibilities are basically endless
Hot apple cider, magickal woman style. 🍎❤️
Some kitchen witchery for you guys tonight! This is what I use to make hot apple cider. It is my FAVOURITE autumn/winter drink and it’s perfect for any meals you make for Mabon. Super uplifting and comforting! I will list ingredients and their magickal benefits here.
Pure unpasteurized apple cider - you can make this yourself but I just buy it from a local family owned apple orchard that I love supporting.
Whole Allspice - Allspice is associated with the fire element so it is physically warming as well as mentally uplifting and healing.
Cinnamon sticks/ground - Cinnamon is also associated with the fire element. Warming, uplifting, healing, promotes love. It is also known to enhance the male libido (😉)
Nutmeg - Increases clairvoyance, and clear sight. If a beverage with nutmeg is shared between you and another person, it encourages romantic love.
Apples are associated with love, fertility, marriage, and beauty. Oranges are said to bring joy. Coincidentally all of the spices I have in this recipe are great for money and love spells as well! 😊
🍎1L unpasteurized pure apple cider Put in pot, on low heat on the stove 🍎Cut a medium orange into slices and put slices into the cider 🍎If using cinnamon sticks, you can just read put these right into the cider. If using ground, put the cinnamon, nutmeg and whole allspice into a tea bag or infuser and put into cider 🍎Leave on low heat for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally and serve!
Not only is this super delicious but it makes your house smell AMAZING!
Enjoy friends, blessings❤️🍎

📖writing + witchcraft📖
writing has always been a passion of mine, and there’s nothing i love more than combining personal hobbies with witchcraft! there’s so many ways you can use writing to boost your craft, or use your craft to boost your writing; these are the ways i personally do!
- honour what’s special in your craft. if you’re theistic, dedicate a piece of writing to them. if you’re not, but you want to honour something else, you could write about the earth, or the stars, or absolutely anything. this would make a great grimoire or b.o.s entry!
- learn to use automatic writing. this is a cool kind of divination that allows your subconscious/higher self, or spirits around you to control what you write. i’ve tried this a few times and it’s quite fun, but i’ve always wanted to try using it as inspiration for creative writing! here is a much better post on it by @satinsouled.
- start journaling. journaling is a great way to clear your mind and encourage creativity, but it can be really useful in witchcraft too! write about your witchy experiences however you want to, so you have reference points to come back to later
- draw inspiration from your craft. similar to the previous point, if you’ve had an interesting experience that you’d like to write about, why not turn it into a poem or short story? if you worship deities, write a story about them. create your own world of witchiness that stems from your personal experiences - your writing will always be unique and interesting because no one else will have had your experiences!
- use tarot cards and readings as inspiration. instead of reading tarot like you normally would, write prose or poetry inspired by it to note down your reading. i think the best example by far is @tarotprose, one of my favourite blogs on tumblr and actually my inspiration to start combining witchcraft and poetry.
- souped-up spellwork. its easy to work spells you find online, word-for-word, because you think that’s how it’s ‘meant’ to be done. there are some people who say their way is the ‘only’ way, but that’s a toxic way of thinking. use poetry and creative writing to create your own, personalised chants, invocations and spells! your words will have more power for you than anyone else’s, and you’ll probably find your spells will work much better if you put your own personal touch into them.
i’m really trying to get back into writing, so if anyone has any poetry prompts please send them to my writeblr @aghostwrites! if you have any more suggestions please reblog with them, i always want to hear your opinions on what topics mean to you in your craft. happy witching!
if you enjoy my content, and would like to support me, please click here to visit my store! i offer in depth tarot readings, tarot bags, custom sigils and patches all at very decent prices. this store is my only source of income and it’s currently paying for rent, food, bills, my dogs operation and a new car. if you can, please help! any amount of support means the world
Witch Tip ✨
Save your orange peels! After eating, you can wash the peel, let it dry for about a week or so, and then store the peel in a jar (helpful tip: break up the peel into bits, it’s just a little easier that way).
The orange peel bits can be used in spells for happiness, energy, and prosperity! It’s also useful for teas. 🍊🍊🍊
