Final themes!

Thanks to everyone who sent in theme suggestions and participated in the voting rounds! It’s because of y'all that we now have the final themes for SoulxMaka week 2023!

Just like the years prior, you can create anything for SoulxMaka Week so long as it applies to the themes provided. We ask that you follow each day’s theme as it comes, but you are more than welcome to post for a previous day. You can make any form of art, including fanmixes, drawings, gif or photo sets, interpretive art (like knitting or jewelry), AMVs, fanfiction, or anything else that comes to mind. As long as it has to do with the themes for SoulxMaka Week and that it is about SoMa, anything works!

One thing, though - please do not steal art or repost other people’s work! We ask that you reblog what isn’t yours because it is not yours to take. Respect other people’s hard work!

If you participate, please tag your posts using the tags "SoulxMaka", “SoMaWeek2023”, “SoulxMakaweek”, or @ us (@soulxmakaweek) when you post so that we can find your work and reblog it onto this blog!

Welcome to Maka x Black Star Week 2021!

This year’s event will be taking place from April 25th to May 2nd 2021.

To start off, we are asking our fellow MaStar shippers to contribute themes for our voting rounds until January 30th. Afterwards, we will be holding 2 voting rounds to determine which of the top 8 themes will used for MaStar Week. Our ask box is ready, please submit your ideas!

Please keep theme suggestions respectful and open-ended. They should not be prompts; instead, we are looking for themes that are broad and can be wildly interpreted. We’re also hoping to not have repeated ideas from the year before. You can refer to this list here for past themes.

Voting rounds will be posted on January 31st and February 14th. Make sure you follow @mastar-week so that you are updated on when votes are collected. Only the top themes will make it to the end so best of luck to your favorites!

Rules for themes: No idea is too outrageous - go ahead and send us your themes, even if it’s just one or five or fifty. The deadline for themes is February 26th! They should be open-ended and preferably not too specific. To keep the content fresh, we ask that you do not send in similar themes to the ones used during previous years. You can find a list of past themes here!

Attention Soul Eater fandom: only 1 week left to sign up for Resbang 2020!

What a week, right?

But during the week of super hell, 18 authors, 23 artists, and 6 betas have signed up already! Y’all are incredible.

Sign-ups for the Soul Eater Resonance Big Bang (or Resbang!) are still open, but only until November 14th!

If you want to participate, now’s your chance to join us. If you’re on the fence, please remember you can drop out of the event at any time, but you only have a very short sign-up window if you want to give it a shot this year!

What is a Resbang, anyway? Here’s the cliffnotes version:

Authors write and complete a fic with 10k words minimum (and can apply the year’s theme if they wish. This year’s theme is Season of the Witch, to interpret however you desire). Any pairings/gen, any genre, OC-friendly, crossovers cool if SE cast is dominant.

Artists chill a bit until CLAIMS NIGHT. Claims work through blind selection and are assigned first come, first serve. Artists complete at least 1 piece of artwork inspired by their claimed fic. Any media goes: traditional, digital, musical, culinary, crafty – sky’s the limit.

With the help of (optional) betas, the groups then polish their projects for the grand reveal during posting season, which will start mid-February.

Reverb 2020! Who would’ve thought Soul’s inability to water plants could bring him so close to a stranger? In a tirade of balcony jumping and movie nights, Soul and Maka quickly find themselves in a lovely awkward mesh of pining and laughter.

I plan to add more to this after Reverb, which is why it’s not necessarily in chronological order. Kinda gives me the opportunity to just keep adding onto it. In the mean time, enjoy Reverb 2020! After an absolute ton of delays and scrapped ideas, I PRESENT TO YOU MY CONTRIBUTION TO CHIBI!REVERB 2020!

I want to say an absolutely huge thank you to my wonderful authors @thissiteistrashbuthereiam and @fiercyy as well as the @reverbmod​ ‘s for having so much patience with me throughout the project! My uni workload turned out to me waY heavier than I anticipated around my original posting day so being able to still share the wonderful fics my author pals wrote, as well as my art, is amazING and I’m super grateful!

On that note please check out the fanfics wrote!!! They’re so so amazing and each take such a varied angle on the original idea we came up with!

Howdy! I can’t believe I’m making my art debut. I just finished my first ever art, and it was for @reverbmod‘s event Chibi!Reverb 2020. I was so lucky to have two lovely writer partners! @azroazizah​ and @cjgoblin are such JOYS, and wow, they’re so talented! ;-; We had the best time giggling and making up dumb scenarios for their fics, which are based off of my art summary:

You should go read these fics! Seriously, they’ll make you grin at your screen and laugh. Warnings for second hand embarrassment because Soul is dumb–romcoms just do that to people lmao. You can read @azroazizah‘s fic here and @cjgoblin‘s on ao3 or ffn! (will add links when they post!)

Finally finished- my part of the collaboration with @soul-of-spades for the 2020 Soul Eater Chibi!Reverb !!

This is our labor of love, the Neon Soaked cyberpunk AU featuring the characters we know and love from Soul Eater. Inspired by works such as Bladerunner and Altered Carbon, this AU takes a look at the meaning of a human soul in a world defined by its obsessive relationship with self-upgrading and biosuperiority.

This project was so much fun to work on, and I hope you take a minute to check out our AU mini-site, which hosts the comic, fic links, artist/author information, and even some additional concept art!

Life and Death aren’t compatible. You cannot have one while the other exists. At least, that’s what Soul thought. As Lord of the Underworld, he was resigned to only see color when he braved the mortal realm, but Maka had other plans. A chance meeting leaves Soul wondering if life could, In fact, reside alongside the dead. Perhaps, color could exist in his grey world of shades and souls. And perhaps, it wasn’t the Fates’ will that he exist alone for all eternity.

This is my submission for Chibi!Reverb 2020! I had a wonderful time collaborating with @nsart to create this crossover of Greek Mythology and Soul Eater! This was so much fun to write and create and I hope you enjoy!
