As the police escalate violence, beat and attack students and professors, and conduct mass arrests, student protesters should know their rights.
If you plan on going out to support the protests, please take some time to read through this and know your rights.
i can’t find words for my anger right now so here’s a collection of thoughts that share the sentiment
Also responsible for the Roosterteeth shut down, removing several shows from streaming to avoid paying residuals, as well as the scrapped Batgirl and Wile E Coyote vs Acme movies after completion as a tax write off. That’s just what I can think of without googling
He's also the reason that the entire company is now under investigation by the Department of Justice:
“We respectfully urge the Justice Department to investigate the state of competition in affected labor and consumer markets following consummation of this merger, which appears to have enabled Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) to adopt potentially anticompetitive practices that reduce consumer choice and harm workers in affected labor markets.” (x)
So far, two directors have resigned because of this probe, and only a few days after they went, Kevin Trehy - head of physical production - left the company too after 21 years. He was meant to be spearheading the London-based studio for the company.
It feels like such an unpopular opinion these days but I'd much rather a story take a big swing and miss than just be a tepid, lightly-tread path. I'd much rather writers take big risks, play with expectations, subvert tropes and ultimately maybe fail a little bit than have this constant stream of content that can be summed up in trite soundbites or carved up into 30 second clips.
Perhaps they ought not to have eaten the dragon. There had been people objecting to it at the time. Surely such meat was poisonous. Perhaps it was even an affront, an insult to some intangible order of nature they ought to honour.
But the city was starving, the siege had gone on too long, and the king's troops were still a week's march away. The scorched earth would be fertile again in time, but right now it was barren. Right now there were mouths to feed. So they changed their crossbows for butcher knives and got to work.
None of the royal commanders asked any questions that could not be answered. After all, their aid had come shamefully late. The dragon's horned skull made a noble gift, a fitting tribute from a triumphant city to its humbled king. Who would have thought to question them?
And none of the townsfolk spoke up, when the first golden-eyed babes were born. Children who grew up barefoot and fearless, clambering over the city's patched and rebuilt roofs like they had no notion of falling, with a strange glitter to their skin when the sunlight hit it just so. No one breathed a word about dragons.
Because soon enough there were deft, young hands taking loaves straight out of the oven, heedlessly lifting iron from the forge, plunging into boiling laundry water. And some of them more wondrous still, wild, warm-skinned youths, with inexplicable knowledge and peculiar remedies.
A blessing, their families said proudly. A blessing after so much hardship. Which it was, in its way. This city would never fear dragon fire again.

There is no possible reality where this is in any way capable of being passed off as self-defense. It was never self-defense. It is, and always has been, a genocide.
Crying babies. Crying babies. This is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, meant to draw out and kill civilians while also making it far more difficult to locate and aid children who are trapped or alone.
If you have money to spare, please consider donating to some of the fundraisers on Operation Olive Branch to help people escape this genocide.
I liked this prematurely because I wanted to investigate for myself but yeah, it's true. Here's two news outlets reporting on the matter: https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/disturbing-recordings-crying-infants-played-israeli-quadcopters-lure-gaza-residents-shooting https://euromedmonitor.org/en/article/6271 Normally I try to find a recurring pattern for stuff like this however I think this information is too fresh for there to be a considerable precedent yet.
One thing that I didn’t see mentioned was that the resistance in Gaza were using the recordings of children laughing to draw in the IDF for an ambush.
And really, I think this really does encapsulate how awful Israel actually is. One side uses the recordings of crying children to prey on basic human kindness and compassion.
The other side uses recordings of children playing and laughing because they know their target is explicitly targeting kids.
If I wrote this, it’d be considered cartoonishly ridiculous.
The “face camera and point at thing in background” pose will never not be funny now regardless of context
Little boy standing in the stroller just looked around the crowded coffee shop, pointed at me and asked his mom "What's HIS name" and his mom said "I don't know!" and he asked me "What's YOUR name" and I called back "I'm Al" across the whole coffee shop and he went "HI AL!"
As we were leaving like three people called out "Bye Al!" I've decided I love humanity.
