what if I told you…..

… that when film and television adapt books, they change things, for a variety of practical and creative reasons?

I’m not reblogging this because I think the meme is funny. I’m rebloggin because you put the word TACO on what is clearly ALREADY A TACO. If EVER there was a case to not need the word TACO it is THIS MOMENT. And that’s really funny to me.

i love prince eric.  from the little mermaid.  he’s hilarious.  because he seems like one of the most mild-mannered and unassuming princes in the disney canon, but he is also one of the few to actively kill the bad guy.   most disney villains die by consequence of the final battle but are not directly killed by the hero/heroine.  most of them fall to their deaths or cause their own demise, and sometimes the hero is indirectly responsible because they’ll launch them into that direction or something, but they still don’t bring knife to heart directly.

but then a couple do.  and prince eric is my fave out of those few because up until the final act, he is the most chill motherfucker u ever seen.  like he is quick to spring to action during the storm scene n stuff, but otherwise?  he’s really quiet n sensitive and runs along the beach playing the flute for his big shaggy dog n he smiles like a lil nerd and gets all cute around ariel and he’s so sweet n everything.

AND THEN IN THE FINAL BATTLE THAT MOTHERFUCKER STRAIGHT UP DRIVES A SHIP THROUGH URSULA LIKE WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!!  NO WONDER NO ONE IS TRYIN TO LAY SIEGE TO HIS KINGDOM!!  ALL THE NEIGHBOURS ARE LIKE “HOLY SHIT DON’T GO THERE! PRINCE ERIC IS A BEAST!  HE’LL STRAIGHT UP DRIVE A BOAT THROUGH YOUR BITCH!”

i love him

At the beginning of the movie Prince Eric, without hesitation, jumps into the ocean, in the middle of a storm, and climbs onto a ship that’s on fire, all to rescue his dog.

Then when he’s convinced some mystery woman saved him, he starts looking for her just to thank her. On his way, he meets some mute naked teenage girl who can’t even walk or dress herself, confirms that she’s not the girl he’s looking for, then brings her to stay at his castle anyway, for no particular reason.

No one questions this, just like they don’t question when he shows up three days later with a mysterious woman one morning and says he’s getting married that same day. At said wedding, several witnesses see his fiance turn into a sea monster, which he then murders by piloting a submerged ship pulled up from the bottom of the ocean straight into her.

A week later, he marries the mute girl and the god of the sea himself rises from the ocean to give his blessings. Again, no one questions this.

I’m convinced that Eric had to have done some crazy insane stunts on a regular basis, cause despite him being so chill and relaxed normally, no one bats an eyelash at any of his ridiculous decisions or incredible feats during the course of the film. Clearly they’re all used to it, and rumours of him marrying an ocean princess would only dissuade potential enemies of his country even further.

a common conversation around the kingdom:

“Did you hear what Prince Eric did this morning?”

“Oh gods, not again.

prince eric is a retired epic level player character

petetion for booboo stewart to play robin in the batman

why he's perfect for the role:

1. he's only 25, which puts him much closer to the age batman's sidekick should be unlike his previous live-action incarnations.

2. he's also multiracial, with blackfoot, korean, chinese and japanese ancestry; representation in the dcu has so far been laughable.

3. he's jacked as hell, especially for a 25 year old.

4. he even has a superhero role under his belt, as he played warpath in the x-men movies.

5. in the twilight films he played seth clearwater, a little-brother-figure to robert pattinson's edward cullen.

6. he's a great actor and a very likeable person, much like robin himself.

i think he would make an amazing robin. reblog if you agree.

So... I’ve noticed that a lot of Cameron Boyce/Descendants fans have said that they aren’t sure if they are going to be able to watch D3 on August 2nd (if it still premieres on its original date) and I completely get it. That’s very soon to watch someone who you were a fan of in what is one of their last movies ever. I know I keep going back to Cory Monteith, but that’s the only other experience I have with this in terms of a celebrity I was a fan of passing away. I had a hard time watching The Quarterback, the episode dedicating to Cory’s Glee character Finn, and he wasn’t even in it, so I can’t even imagine what it’s going to be like watching D3 knowing that Cameron isn’t here anymore and won’t get to see the response to the movie he worked so hard on.

HOWEVER

I think every Descendants fan should set up D3 to record. I think every Descendants fan should at least try to watch D3. And if you can’t finish it, if it’s too hard, leave the room and keep the movie on - mute it if you have too, so the rating is still counted. We need to make this the highest rated Descendants movie ever. We did that with D2, to get a D3. This isn’t to get a D4, let’s be honest that was probably never going to happen anyway. This is about honoring Cameron and the blood, sweat, and tears he put into this franchise and this third film. This is about supporting the cast and crew that is still here, that is attempting to honor his memory with this film.

Let’s do this for Cameron, guys. It’s the least we can do after all he did for us.

nobody needs god more than gay people and i dont mean that in the gaybashing biblethumping way. i have met a ridiculous amount of gay people who want nothing more than to feel a closeness to god because their faith has SOMEHOW survived despite everyone in their life telling them god does not approve of who they are. their faith is stronger than that of the echochamber of greedy, corrupt men preaching self-denial to their flock. they are closer to god.

god does not belong to your homophobic parents, he doesnt belong to the homophobic preachers. he wants nothing more than to know you as you are, and his love does not come DESPITE your sexuality (as many “"progressive”“ priests will tell you). it just comes when you are good, kind, and true to yourself.
