#okay this right here makes me want to pick this show up#because it's 100% TRUE FACT.#not enough medical dramas acknowledge the fact that the first paramedics/EMTs were Black men#who helped people REGARDLESS of their race#and had such an incredible record for saving lives that it MADE the white hospitals/medical administrators actually take note#(and then they of course stole the entire process/all their procedures and repackaged it as a white only thing and shut down#the original Black groups/ambulance organization. NATURALLY. jfc.)#when hawkeye talks about how the man who perfected blood banks and transfusions (Dr. Charles Drew) was Black#in an episode of M*A*S*H i was so impressed. yet modern medical shows so rarely acknowledge Black contributions to medicine#the pitt

Granted, my Flirting Radar has never actually worked (I think it was intentionally installed wrong when I was set to Ace at the factory), but I *think* the cute Indian teddy bear of a pharmacy tech at Kroger was flirting with me when I picked up Wimsey's meds.

HIM: Oh, I love that name! I gotta know: is he, in fact, whimsical? ME: Actually, he was named for a fictional detective: Lord Peter Wimsey. HIM: Huh, I've never heard of him! And I really like classic mysteries, like Sherlock Holmes, y'know, stuff like that. ME: I highly recommend the Lord Peter stories, then. They're post-WWI, written by Dorothy Sayers. HIM: I'll definitely have to check them out! Thanks for the info!

Then he made sure to ask for my Kroger card -- "Wouldn't want you to miss out on those points; they definitely add up and help with the gas prices these days." -- and double-bagged the bottle "just to be safe".
