Why is this egg joke discourse even a thing why do you guys need a binary system to tell you how to act when you can literally just listen to your actual friends regarding the language they're comfortable with you using for them

Honestly so much discourse around jokes and language on this website boils down to a learned helplessness common in this type of space where people don't want to develop communication skills they want rules and they want the rules to be based on what they, personally, are okay with and think is right. If someone says they aren't comfortable with egg jokes you just stop making them. If you're not sure you can just ask. If they're okay with it you have no right to tell them or the people they're okay with making them that they're in the wrong. It's seriously legitimately not this deep and it wouldn't be this deep if so many of you weren't trying to find morally just covers for your kneejerk revulsion for trans women

decided to cook hotdogs on our porch in a lil charcoal grill and our neighbors asked if they could have some and so we made some and then one of their kids came out and asked for 2 and we made him two and it was just a big happy group and man thats what its all about you roast hot dogs at 10pm and share with the other tenants in the buildings you live in

you stream the little grill fire to your pals and you laugh with the neighbors and you laugh with your friends and you sit at that little fire and make smores with your partner and have ice cream cones after. the air was cool and crisp. the clouds were thin and whispy the moon was serving mystery. things are tough but these are those moments.

there's that post going around that's a short twit thread talking about "the obesity epidemic" as a result of economic oppression and everyone's snapping their little fingers for it but like. you guys know that we achieved socialist utopia tomorrow there would still be fat people right. you guys know that genetics play a bigger role in that than anything else and that some people will just be fat regardless of every other factor in their life right. you guys know that's fine right.

like idk I don't think it comes from a purposefully fatphobic place and like yes it sucks a lot that the demands of capitalism deny people a lot of opportunities to cook or learn to cook and be more engaged and intentional about their food. but it has this flavor of "poverty is bad because it makes people fat," which only holds up as an argument if you agree that being fat is a terrible thing that happens to people rather than being a completely neutral reality about some people's bodies.

anyone pulling any fatphobia on this post is getting blocked on sight I'm not playing.

there's also the fact that "obese" as a term is functionally meaningless except as a pejorative for fat people.

It's only a medical term insofar as it relates to the body mass index (BMI)- a famously flawed tool that was created by a eugenicist to pathologize the bodies of people of color in general, and black people specifically.
