Unavailable downloads

I realize that a bunch of downloads people have been looking for are unavailable. I just finished migrating all my TS3 stuff to my new computer, and will work on replacing links this weekend.

64-bit TS3 for Mac

I’m playing without Awesome Mod for the first time in ten years, because I just acquired a new (actually pretty old) iMac and figured the better performance would be worth the trade-off. Anyone else in the same boat? I haven’t been playing long enough to know how much I miss AM yet.

Does anyone know how to install custom worlds without the Launcher when playing via Origin on a Mac? TS3 doesn’t show up in Applications apparently, so I can’t find the Worlds folder.

Edit: nevermind, I figured it out. I’m evidently not using my brain today.

do you use a colour pallet? I love your Victorian houses.

Thanks!

It depends on what you mean. If you mean deciding on a palette and using specific color codes, then no, I don't. I just use the color wheel in CASt because the same color code usually looks different on different objects/textures. If I want to match a plastic siding to a wooden fence, for example, I'll eyeball it because I can get a better match than I would by just copying the color.

But when I'm choosing colors for houses, I do have a general idea of the palette I want to use. For Victorians, I normally have two or three main colors plus white, cream, or another neutral for siding corners, fences, etc. I like looking at pretty houses in real life, so I've gotten some good ideas for colors that way. I mainly just spend a lot of time in-game messing with the color wheel and trying different combinations. I usually add the siding or whatever exterior treatment I'm using on just the front facade of the house, and then try different colors on the front so I can see how it all looks together. If I'm using any bright-ish sort of color on a house (like anything that's not brick/stone/plaster/etc.), I might try out twenty different color variations—some totally different combinations, and some just slightly different shades once I've narrowed down the color I want.

This post has a bit about my thought process when choosing color combinations, and also some resources for inspiration if you want to put together a palette before you get in-game.

I am trying to make a supernatural/witchy save and was wondering if you could reupload/fix these? 11Dupont Avenue, Lindy, Ianthine Folly, Tenley Court.

I use the EA roofs so rarely that sometimes I cycle through all my custom roofs for ages, not happy with any of them, only to realize there’s a vanilla one that works perfectly fine.

So I don’t know what the Venn diagram looks like between orchid enthusiasts and Sims players. But since I only have the one blog, on rare occasions I’ll share something from my non-Sims hobbies.

These are all the currently blooming orchids in my collection. The first one is a beast; that is a three-foot stake on it. It’s easily the tallest one I own, and definitely my favorite bloom.

Apologies for the 100% non-Sims post. But anyone else on Simblr who’s also into orchids, come talk to me!

I also totally forgot that I built this. Last time I opened TS4, I was playing through the Strangerville story with a Sim in this little Gothic-ish cottage.

I’ve said this before, but the best thing about TS4 Build Mode is the roofing system—the push-and-pull thing, multiple textures, changeable trim, adjustable eaves, movable sections, etc. I actually really enjoy doing roofs, so I’d love to have those mechanics in TS3.

I never spent a whole lot of time in the actual gameplay of TS4 so I’m discovering a lot. Definitely did not know that pet drinks were a thing. Pretty cute.

Playing TS4 and I was so irrationally pissed off until I remembered that the “Sims 3 Camera” setting is a thing.

Y'all who play with the default camera setting: how the fuck
