Hey there!

I’m fairly new to the blog, and I was wondering if you have a post that explains the Horror AU?

Maybe like what the first and second waves are, and what defines a horror or not?

Sorry if this is troublesome, have a nice day!

I don't have one of those yet unfortunately, writing a massive post explaining all this is one of my goals, but it's also extremely intimidating. Let me try to explain right here real quick.

A Horror is what we'd call a Creepypasta: someone who kills others in large amounts through mundane or supernatural methods. But there's more to them in this au. In this au, a Horror is someone who has been pushed over an edge mentally, physically and emotionally, and was transformed (born is the term they use) into a Horror. The term 'post-human' is used for those who used to be human - post-demon is another, less used term.

A Horror is biologically inclined to kill, especially to kill humans. The majority hate humans and have no issues killing them. This is because their births as Horrors were based on trauma to their minds and bodies, human evil pushing them to a point of spontaneous evolution. Horrors are faster, and stronger, than humans, with quicker reflexes, however a newborn Horror needs time to develop these traits. They also heal faster than humans. A broken bone takes a day or two; a paper cut heals in seconds. None of this means death is impossible, however, it just makes it more painful on the Horror.

The First Wave was the spontaneous birth of several thousand Horrors. These Horrors killed any around them at the time of their birth, then went on murderous rampages all over the country. Their attacks soon ceased to be random and became targeted: politicians, televangelists, celebrities, news reporters, anyone that killing would cause chaos, they went after. They possibly also went after places like airports, power plants and factories. They also attacked any groups of helpers, from EMTs and doctors to overseas aid. There was no rhyme or motive behind these brutal sprees, they just wanted to hurt as many people as possible. The country initially thought it was some kind of virus, with reports coming in comparing the Horrors to zombies, vampires and other supernatural beings. In the process, demons, a separate race supposedly created by the god Zalgo, were exposed to humanity.

Under the brutal attacks, the country buckled. No response from civilians or the military stopped the Horrors, and as humans were pushed over the edge by the chaos, they too became Horrors. Eventually the country fell completely, society crumbling. Refugees that attempted to cross the borders were turned away or killed, all countries fearing what they didn't understand, especially as Horrors attempted to join the exodus and kill more people.

Two years later, it happened again, a Second Wave. Smaller than the first, this Wave seemed more coordinated, and restless. They attacked outposts and the Camps that existed to train and teach refugees and children how to fight Horrors and survive in this new, unpredictable world. At the same time as the Horrors, monsters, ranging from supernatural creatures like black shucks to things straight out of Silent Hill. Humans called them Beasts, and left them alone unless they attacked.

Three years later, as a government began pulling itself together from the ashes, an 18yo Horror called Jeff Woods appeared. Jeff, having spent the last five years held prisoner by humans, saw something that no other Horror did. He saw potential... A purpose. With the help of the demon surgeon Eyeless Jack, Jeff used his cunning and intelligence to gather the Horrors under his command. Under his influence, he turned the Horrors from individual killers into an army, with the goal of waging war on humanity. And they did. For another five years, the Horrors War raged. Jeff the Killer went from nobody to nightmare, the most feared criminal in the human territories, and his generals were just as notorious. It was only after the implementation of the Three Days Law, which enforced public execution of any known Horror three days after capture, that the War ended. The Horrors fell into chaos, the army broke apart, and many were captured and executed. They were ripped limb from limb, then either impaled on a stake, or hung by the neck on a gallows, and left to die, all in front of cameras and an audience.

It's been twenty years since the First Wave. No Horrors have been born in five years. No Horror has been caught and executed in eight. The country and its faulty government are slowly piecing itself back together. Currently the country only exists on the east coast. Everything to the west are wildlands, fought over by Mad Max style warlords. Other countries are opening up to this new world. While travel is banned, exports and imports are opening again, allowing things many survivors thought they'd never see again. PTSD is a common illness. Many have died from starvation, disease, and human malice. It's estimated a third of the country's original population are dead.

And in the middle of this fallen world, Jeff finds a new Horror, a vet tech called Briar Gillespie. He takes her as his apprentice. Soon, other Horrors find them - Eyeless Jack, Jeff's old right hand man and lover; Laughing Jack, the sadistic Victorian floating doll; and Ben, a digital ghost unleashed into the world via the internet. Together, they become a family, a polyamorous relationship that holds strong against all odds. And there are lots of them. The government has their own Horrors, some very familiar faces. And worse is the Tall Man, the Slenderman, the eldritch nightmare who claims to be the god of Horrors, who sends his Proxies out into the world to kill and collect and investigate for his own purposes...

This is just the tip of the iceberg, too.

I really, really need to improve this blog's tags so people can find stuff easily. Maybe I should make that my goal next week.

Doc without his mask:

I'm still writing his story. I have a habit of planning short stories, but then they end up being long.

Fun facts about Doc:

  • He's Meme's mate.
  • You probably know who wears the pants in the relationship just by looking at him.
  • He collects fungi and plants to grow medicine.
  • He's got a room dedicated to just his lab.
  • He's African American
  • He has insomnia because he tends to fixate on his work.
  • His pack has to drag him out of his lab or he'll forget to eat.
  • He has autism.
  • Hates touching soft wet things. It makes his skin crawl.
  • He get super pissed off when his brain fixates on one food, and he won't be able to eat anything else for a week but that one thing. Happens once a month.
  • Meme teases Doc about it and Doc gets him back later.
  • He's very logical. He has problems analyzing his own feelings, but he's good at reading other people.
  • He's actually very calm and sweet to horrors, but he has a resting bitch face.
  • He sees humans as beneath him. He'll be nice for Meme, but he could care less about humans until they inconvenience him.
  • He sees Meme as a precious cinnamon roll that he needs to protect.
  • Doc is stronger than Meme and will not use his powers unless necessary because he likes having the element of surprise.
  • Meme couldn't remember Doc's human name when they met, so he started calling him Doc, short for doctor. Doc has cherishes his new name and abandoned his human name.

Still writing his back story but those is it so far:

He became a horror after his town fell onto anarchy. He was an ER doctor and performed emergency surgery. One day the horrors planned an attack and invaded his town by the hundreds. It left the town in chaos and it was every man for themselves. The PTSD that day broke him and he became a horror. Later he met Meme and Rus.

I don't know how to stop it from being blurry I've adjusted the size multiple timez.

Meme's right hand man, The Plague Doctor, but everyone calls him Doc. Like Meme, he's considered weird by horror standards.

He spends most of his time babysitting Meme, making sure he doesn't accidently kill himself with his antics. He mostly goes after humans he judges as bad. He's not a hero or good guy, rather he has a twisted sense of justice. He is still a horror after all.

Briar! ♡

10 Facts About Bad Luck Briar:

  1. She has a tattoo of a rose with a thorny vine wrapped around it on her ankle
  2. Black rabbits appear a lot in her dreams
  3. She likes stringed instruments the best, like guitars and violins
  4. She isn't jealous of the Hedonist but finds interacting with him awkward
  5. She's almost always covered in animal hair, even when she's not been at work
  6. She's actively hunting down the King's cultists to kill them
  7. She rarely actually kills in cold blood - she's a justice killer like Jane was
  8. Her favorite colors are purple and red
  9. On warm days in the Forest, you can sometimes find her in a dress, which she never wears around humans because of the whole 'hairless' thing
  10. She donated her eggs at least once before becoming a Horror. They're still out there.

What would happen if the gov. crew were out hunting down a horror somewhere and came across a newly orphaned child?

Temporary babysitting. Rico would not just let the kid wander off, he's actually got some pretty strong paternal instincts. The task would be on hold while Rico contacted command, explained what they found, and took them all somewhere else to drop the kid off to safety.

While with the gov crew, the child would be one of the safest people on the planet. The Horrors don't like humans, other than Rico, but they wouldn't hurt the kid either. Nina and Liu would tolerate the kid best, but Puppeteer would try and avoid them due to his dislike. Also because Rico doesn't want the literal ghost scaring the poor kid. BEG would give them things to play with on one of his tablets and keep them busy while the Horrors did more grown up things. Thistle is a giant dog so unless the kid is scared of dogs, she'll be good company.

The child probably wouldn't be staying unless said kid turns out to be a Horror. If that happens, they'll be whisked off to the base and the Horrors will be extremely protective over them. But if the kid is a normal human, they'll be taken to safety and the gov Horrors will probably return to their previous task. But Rico will seem unsettled and distracted for some time.

Let me just. Copy paste this idea for all of you. Not a manor au, but a palace au:

The King of Pain, father of the one called the Slenderman and husband to Queen Amara the Mad, unexpectedly dies or has to incarnate into a new form, leaving mother and son to lead the kingdom of Memoria until his return. With the King gone, however, several enemies (such as Zalgo, and possibly HABIT? And more.) appear, wanting to take over the kingdom and in some cases, marry either mother or son.

Slender summons warriors from other dimensions to serve him and protect his kingdom and mother, but... He gets a lot of serial killers for some reason. He also gets the very confused Tim and Brian, who Slender 'knights' as proxies just because they aren't homicidal. For the others... He rolls with it. He spent too much energy 'recruiting' them to just send them back

Meanwhile, Amara (who isn't really as mad as many think) rediscovers her ability to take a human form and proceeds to interact with the new 'slayers' without actually telling them who she is. She calls herself Amara the Servant, and nobody thinks twice about it or why they never see the Queen everyone talks about. Slender knows about it and keeps an eye on her to make sure she stays safe.

So yeah this is what I've been thinking about enjoy

I have this mental image of Briar waking up somewhere she doesn't recognize. It's green and its warm and it's bright and there's a stranger standing over her. Their name is Vick. She's never seen them before, but she likes them from the first hello. They take her back to their farmhouse, where she gets comfortable with Vick's cats and rests on their couch with, IDK, cookies made from honey or something. And in the other room, she hears them talking to someone on the phone...

"Hey, did you lose someone? There's a girl on my couch right now - long black hair, freckled fair skin - she's got a purple rabbit on her bat so I know she's ours - says her name is Briar-"

Briar is a room away but she still hears the man shout.

"WHAT?!"

A door slams open, scattering the cats and revealing a stranger. Vick walks out of the other room, blinking.

"That was fast," they say to HABIT, but his eyes are locked dead on Briar.

She has no idea who he is.

["But that's not possible!" she protests. "I saw you die!" "NOW DIDN'T I TELL YOU I HAD A FEW RABBITS UP MY SLEEVE?"]

Another mental image: Masky carrying Toby home, piggyback style, because Toby is a big sleepy immature bastard after whatever they got sent to do. Toby is mumbling homicidal garbage by Masky's ear but it's so indistinct the older proxy can just ignore it. Fury leads the way, wagging her tail as they head back to the manor.

YOHHHHH, I just thought of something even more fucked up. He thrives on the looks of fear she gives him. He thinks they're so cute and how can he resist messing with her? Mind games! He'll say things like "God isn't very please with you, but don't worry, I'm here to guide his lost sheep to the right path".

He'll refer Briar as the Sadists lost sheep. "Little lamb"

If he sees her anywhere alone, it's on site. He has to give her his teachings and chase/fight her for hours.

And the cherry on top is that it actually help Briar become a better fighter and that scares her because she then thinks he's training her to become a proxy because he dropped that idea into her head.

Oh holy shit that's so fucked up. I love it. Toby you bastard. This just really gives him a vibe and I'm all for it. Toby seeing himself as an angel, a priest, more, to the Sadist, the one who must bring back the sheep who ran from the flock - not just her, but all the wild Horrors. Frightening potential here.

I don't know how to brain rn but this is so good.

Sadist may I have a hug please?

Avatar

The Sadist cocks his head to the side.

"From me?" He says. His body is stiff, a hand raising to cup his chin. A long thumb slides over the spot where his mouth should've been.

"Oh... Very well."

The Sadist sinks to his knees. He seems to be looking away as his arms wrap around you. It's a good hug. Tight but not suffocating. The cloth of the suit is soft but stiff like wood, and the skin of his hands are warmer than one might think.

When you both pull away, he wastes no time standing.

"Tell no one," he commands, and walks off. His steps are quicker than you've ever seen them before. Someone got a little embarrassed about the situation, perhaps?

Concept from last night: Rico wearing a suit made by the Revisionist instead of a normal one made by Nina. Difference is all in the fabric - imagine the Revisionist using the same type as he does for the Sadist...

Side note: imagine the Revisionist and Nina becoming friends over their shared love of making clothes

Imagine one of the proxies hearing Fury whining sadly in the distance. They follow the sound into a room, where they find her on her side, with a massive, fluffy white cat loafing on top of her, refusing to let her up. The proxies then have to find a way to convince King the Cat into getting off the wolfcat, all while they wonder how the fuck he got into the manor.
