One of the funniest things that's crept up on me from traveling, keeping in touch with people from all over the world and watching television from different countries is how it changes how you talk -

I might be reading something in my head in an Irish accent just by default if I just watched a show from Ireland. I might say or think a phrase that gets used in the UK but not the US. If I'm typing a message, I might be thinking of it in an English accent and I might choose my words in accordance with British English (and on occasion I've done this in speech, using BE phrasing but with an American accent) - it's on accident and I catch myself doing it, but it's the strangest thing. When I got back from the Middle East, I felt like I'd taken on the speech pattern of someone I'd spent a few days with while over there.

Just yesterday, I was watching Derry Girls and I thought I felt so bad for James, he's always getting the piss taken out of him! It was hours later that I realized what I said came naturally without a second thought and that we don't say that in the US.

Working in film is so strange. You're nothing, yet you get these occasions of brushing shoulders with something incredible. You get lucky in just meeting the right people at potentially the right time, but without them you still feel as good as nothing, because if you don't get their gig, you're back to square one.

I auditioned for a short film a few years ago directed by someone who's last short (at the time) qualified for an Oscar - the only thing separating it from a literal Oscar nomination was it not making the shortlist.

I auditioned for a short film contest last year directed by someone who had just directed a feature starring a name I recognized and had crew credits on some major recent Hollywood movies.

And I'm confident I just secured an audition for a lead in a feature that sounds pretty solid all around with plans to premiere at a major film festival in the UK, followed by New York.

I've had no luck with the first 2 mentioned here and I'm waiting to hopefully rock the socks off whoever's casting the feature. So wild, the rollercoaster that filmmaking is when you get the chance to make yourself known to someone who has connections and some cred.

Did my first audition in 5 months last week and miraculously got a callback, crossing my fingers for a confirmation booking on a local video advert, my crazy tropical across the world summer adventure is booked, I've finally gotten back into hiking and warm surf season is coming up maybe even sooner than I thought... I finally feel like myself again.

I wanna learn Arabic and eat shawarma and talk to the cute shop owner I met in Jerusalem but I got home last night and I'm tired enough to want to sleep for the next 14 hours but I'm at work for another hour 😭

Voted yesterday, just sent in a solid self tape with a short turnaround time (most disciplined I've been with learning lines all year too 🎉) and I fly to London in a few hours... Solid week, my friends. 👏
