Before anyone starts on me I am of course sad to see Sebastian leaving Ferrari, and l will be very upset if he leaves the sport to retire too. However the person I really can’t stand to see leave the sport if she does go with Seb is Britta Roeske.

I just feel so childish for crying right now, especially as we don’t know if this is retirement for Seb, but I really don’t want to see Britta leave F1. She started in the sport when I was really young, but since I’ve started following her career in about 2008/09 she’s been my hero and Queen. F1 is a male dominated sport but she was one of the first females I really took notice of working among the men and doing a fantastic job. Just seeing her working in the sport made me realise that I could make a career for myself in Motorsport. It didn’t matter that I was a girl, if Britta could do it so could I.

Seeing her working and thriving in F1 changed my whole view on my own future. It was, and still is, a huge driving force behind me for years to actually get into PR in Motorsport. I’ve had the confidence to stick my neck out on the line and enter writing competitions ran by F1 teams that saw me come top ten internationally. I started volunteering to write for a motorsport news site, less than two years later I was running that site and going to events as a credited journalist. I’ve had the balls to reject my place on a teacher training course that I was planning to do after Uni, and a safe career in teaching, to chase my dreams in Motorsport. My current job is working behind the scenes on the social media, PR, and admin of well known motorsport photography teams. My whole life and the path I was taking has been changed by this one woman. Because I could look at Britta and see myself doing a role like that.

She inadvertently is the reason I ended up dating a man who ended up becoming my husband. When my best friend at the time was doing his year abroad studying in Australia, he went to the Grand Prix. He’s a massive Hamilton fan, but despite the fact he could have spent the weekend following Lewis around hoping to get an autograph, he spent the weekend tracking down Britta to get her to sign a hat for me because he knew how much it would mean to me. I thought if someone could be that sweet and give up getting their favourite driver’s autograph for me, then that was the sort of person I should be dating. Sure enough it’s worked out, we’ve been married a year now and we have a beautiful seven month old daughter. Had it not been for her signing the Ferrari hat, who knows what might not have happened.

Britta just reminds me I can do it, I can get into PR in Motorsport and make a career out of it. She is my hero, and I just can’t face seeing the Wonderful Queen of Press go right now. I really can’t.

its crazy to see how the support towards certain drivers has changed on tumblr over the last few years like it felt like at least 70% of blogs were sebastian vettel fans and now its predominantly mercedes/hamilton fans like that would have been literally unheard of in 2013

with his behavior seb brought attention to a problem in f1. drivers are being penalized too much, there are rules for every little thing but the stewards decide how harshly they will punish someone and there was never an equal treatment between all the drivers and all the teams regarding these decisions ever and this needs to change. there needs to be one set of capable stewards who will do the job right.

with his behavior seb combined in all his frustrations from other undeserved penalties from the last few years that he had to take on the chin mexico ‘16, austria ‘18 and there are more examples. things have to change in f1 and i think seb might start at least a part of it

Someone on Twitter dug out some footage of a quite familiar situation between Lewis and Dan. The inconsistent in this sport is a fucking joke and I’m glad Seb’s showing how done he actually is with this shit. Because I agree with Ana, something has to fucking change.
