not so sneaky kisses under the mistletoe

If there was one thing Nami hated, The parties were too loud. There are too many sloppy drunks. The only thing she liked about them, however, was that it was so easy to steal wallets from drunk men and women alike. And no one would even bat an eye, but this party was different; she had been forced to go by Luffy. She originally told him no every day leading up to the party, but alas, he of course just had to use the puppy dog trick on her.

So here she was stuck in the crossing, her arms crossed, nursing a holiday cocktail that Sanji insisted on making to help her lighten up. Nami just wanted it to end, but she just knew she would be stuck here in the early hours of the morning. After all, all of Luffy’s parties lasted for hours,  sometimes days.

Her brown eyes caught a flicker of something blue in the corner of her eye. Her face grew flushed. What was Luffy thinking about inviting her crush Vivi here? Was he trying to kill her out of sheer embarrassment? They had met over two years ago in college. Both Nami and her were in the same history class about alabasta history. And they very quickly became friends. After all, they were always together. If one went looking for Nami, they would find her and Vivi, usually in the library or across campus at the diner owned by one of the professors and run by the students. Well, they had been close friends up until the Halloween party Luffy had invited them to. Everyone had been telling Nami to just confess to Vivi that she wasn't going to wait forever for her, or even worse, she could get tired of waiting on Nami and give up.

So Nami had done just that when they were playing seven minutes of heaven. Nami was so nervous to go with her, but not only did she confess to her. Vivi did not respond to it, so Nami left the party and hasn't spoken to her since. It made classes and projects really awkward between them. Vivi, of course, had kept trying to talk to her, but Nami just wasn't having it.

Nami nearly groaned when she spotted the blue-haired vixen start walking toward her. Nami had nowhere to run, mostly because she was so fast. Nami jolted when Vivi grabbed her hand. "Just hear me out if you still don't like what I say. I won’t push the issue anymore, okay?” She said her voice was as sweet as honey.

Nami let out a heavy sigh once upon a time, feeling that her touch would have sent little sparks down her spine; it would have just felt so right. "Fine, I'll listen. What do you want to say to me, Vivi?” Nami decided to play along with what she was playing at.

"First, I am sorry about Halloween, and second, you misunderstood what happened, Nami."

"Misunderstood what? You led me on all this time only to reject me when I poured my heart out for you to not say a single thing????” Nami couldn't help but snap back, fighting back the tears again.

"That's not what happened at all; I didn't lead you on, Nami."

"Yes, you did; you were always going on dates with me. If you didn't feel that way toward me, why do that to me? Why did you toy with me? Was it fun for you?”

"Do you really think so low of me? Nami, I would never do that to you, but you didn't give me enough time to respond before you ran out of that closet. Nami stiffened up; her shoulders could not stop trembling. Had she been too quick to misjudge her?. At the time when Vivi didn't answer her, all she could feel was betrayed and hurt. Much too hurt to even what she said. Vivi wasn't like her; she was the light itself in her life. Sure, she had her friends and family, but no one made her feel like Vivi made her feel.

Vivi moved her hands, grabbing Nami by the face, her thumb brushing the tears pooling at the edge of her eyes and staring at her brown iris.

"For someone so smart, you're so stupid; you know that, right?” Vivi said it in a whisper. They were surrounded by people, but all she could see was Nami and how upset she had made her; it was killing her on the inside. She had to make this right for her.

"Explain then,” Nami said, biting her lower lip.

"I froze because I didn't actually think you would like me back; I wasn't even sure if you liked girls—well,  girls like me at least,” she admitted to her with a bashful flush of her cheeks.

Nami felt her eyes widen in surprise, and wait, did she hear her correctly? Vivi liked her back. She was worried about her reaction???. Nami could only gawk and stare at her in absolute and utter shock. Well, she at the very least had her undivided attention, that was for sure. Nami could feel the words die at the tip of her tongue before she forced them out. "Are you serious, Vivi? Please don't mess with me right now." Nami whispered out, "Of course I'm serious. I have wanted to ask you out for months. I was actually going to ask you out after the Halloween party, but due to everything, it didn't happen,” Vivi said in a whisper back to her before she rested her forehead against her forehead. Nami moved her own hands, resting them on Vivi’s shoulders. "I wish you had said that earlier; now I feel like such a bitch for no reason." Nami mumbled under her breath,It-s-" was as far as Vivi got out, only to hear Luffy’s voice: : "He you two have to kiss; that’s the rule. Sanji and Robin both said so! ”

The girls jolted.H-huh?!” they exclaimed, looking over at the boy in utter confusion. "Why are you looking at me like that???” He said, tilting his head,

"What are you talking about, Luffy??!!” Nami said, blinking slowly, trying to piece together whatever puzzle this was.

“ You're under the mistletoe, duh, you're supposed to kiss, right?!, right, Sanji!”

"He's right, it's tradition that if you're caught under the mistletoe, you have to kiss. Oh, how I envy them." He said with hearts in his eyes, only to be elbowed right in the gut by Robin. Franky leaned over Robin’s shoulder. "Hey, that mistletoe, wasn't there a few minutes ago?” He whispered into her ear.

Robin took a sip out of her glass of wine as she looked up at him. "That's because it wasn't; what they don’t know won't hurt them."

"Ah, that’s my girl,” Franky said, leaning down and giving Robin a kiss on the check while he watched the showdown continue.

Nami and Vivi both stared at everyone. Nami moved her hand, covering her face, while with her other hand, she was shooing everyone away. "Luffy, there's a bunch of meat I think I saw across the room!" she said. Which worked like a charm before the sentence had even left her mouth. All the way, he was sprinting full force to the party platter table. The others took the hit, thankfully, and started to walk away. Franky and Robin went back to watch the party. Sanji went back to help usopp keep the food stocked and mostly to keep Luffy from eating all of the food again. Nami, after a moment, turned to Vivi, "So, uhm... I mean, are we okay now?” She stammered out, "Well, that depends. Do you accept my apology, Nami?”

"Yeah, I do, but does this mean you accept my confession?” Nami asked in a timid tone, which really wasn't like the orange-haired girl, but Vivi always made this shy side of her come out in more ways than one. Vivi leaned down so their noses were brushing against each other. "Can I kiss you, Nami?"

Nami jolted. What happened to what they were talking about???? "Yeah, you can kiss me, but you'll have to pay me if it’s bad." She teased the blue-haired girl in front of her.

Vivi lifted her hand, cupping her cheek back up. She had moved her hands when they had been so rudely interrupted. Her pink glossy lips brushed over Nami’s red-stained ones. She could taste the sweet strawberry gloss Nami had put over her red lips; it tasted sweet just like her. She would have thought Nami would try to find something orange-scented for her lips, but she liked it either way.

Kissing Nami just felt so right; in that very moment, no one was around them; it was only them. Vivi couldn't hear the loud laughter and yelling of the party. She could not feel the music through the air or in her veins. All she felt at this very moment was secure, as she felt Nami’s arms wrap around her waist as Vivi put her own arms around her neck, pulling her close against her body in a tight embrace, just holding each other like they were the only two people in the entire world. The two of them finally pulled from the kiss after what felt like hours and lifetimes but was merely a matter of seconds. “ well do I need to pay you for that kiss, Nami?” “ I haven't decided Maybe you should kiss me again so I know for sure” Vivi burst out laughing “ Your such a tease aren't you “ Nami rolled her eyes “ so I have been so told but.. You know you never answered my question still , Will you go out with me vivi? W-we can take it as slow as we want or go as fast as you want” Nami couldn't help but to start rambling again as she was looking right back at her again in those eyes full of stars that Nami could get lost in. "Earth to Nami?” Vivi said, waving her hand in front of her face, trying to convey her attention. "Huh?Nami asked, looking around confused, "You were spacing off; was I boring you? You didn't even get to hear my answer, you know? After you ignored me for a few weeks, at least let me tell you my answer,” she said gently.

Nami nodded her head eagerly. "I would love to go out with you. I've always wanted to go ice skating; we don’t have that in my home. I think it would be fun, and maybe I could take you to my home and show you some of the museums."

Nami wanted to snort, "You're such a history nerd, you know that, right? Even on a date, you want to be in a palace of  history."

"Of course I do. I think you're forgetting history class is where we met in the first place, so you're just as big of a history nerd as I am." She teased her back. Nami couldn't help but feel delighted; everything was falling into place. Vivi liked her back and had agreed to go on a date with her. She even told her she wanted to go out with her. But she couldn't help but feel so stupid for creating such a big issue when there didn't need to be one.

"I'm really sorry, Vivi, for how I treated you; that wasn't right of me. Are you sure you still want to go out with someone like me?”

"Of course I do. There’s nothing you could possibly do that would ever change that, Nami. I love you; I have since the day I met you. Now what do you say we stop being antisocial and join the party?” Nami felt a small smile creep it’s way on her lips “ This is one of the things I like about you , you always make me feel so much calmer when talking to you, I really missed this you know but your right we should join the party besides someone has to stop Luffy from trying to fight His brothers right now”

witches and myths

Witches—what a strange concept! Those were stories that drunk pirates passed around when it came to sharing stories, myths, and urban legends to scare others. The sea was vast, and Ace himself had encountered strange things in his time as a pirate. But nothing was stranger than this very moment as he read his mother’s diary. The old man, Garp, had been kind enough to answer Ace's inquiry as if he had anything that belonged to his deceased mother. Never in a million years would Ace have thought his mother was a witch. He just thought she had a will of steel to hold him in for as long as she had. Not that she had witch blood running through her veins or that she had come from a long line of witches in her family for generations. Ace’s black eyes scanned over her words; even his mother’s handwriting seemed delicate. Before they widened as he reread his mother’s words over and over again in disbelief, "Ace, my dear son, someday you will find this journal and you will learn about my blood line. In my journal, I have left a ritual for you to speak to the dead in case something ends up happening to me. But there is a catch: you can only cast it on Halloween night at exactly the witching hour."

He wasn't sure how well it would work. He didn't even believe in witches, much less the fact that he was a witch in turn. But he had so many questions for his mother and, hell, even his father. He wanted to scream at him until his breath was blue for leaving him and his mother behind. For being born as his child and everything he had been through because of his father. He wanted him to know all the awful things people said about him. He was thankful Halloween was tomorrow, but he couldn't shake the anxiety he was feeling at the very thought of this even working at all. He didn't even know what he would say to them. He couldn't help but think about whether his mother would be proud of the man he had become. He wanted to meet her so badly that he took her last name as a way to honor her life. To thank her for bringing him into this world.

Ace couldn't help but be filled with this anxiety in his chest, bubbling up all day. He could hardly focus on anything. He wasn't able to sleep last night with the thoughts of what would happen tonight plaguing his mind.

"Are you alright, boy? You seem kind of off today." Pops couldn't help but ask; it just wasn't like Ace to be so fidgety like this. Much less hardly eating any of the meals he usually did.

Ace jolted, "Oh no, I didn't mean to worry, you pops; I just have a lot on my mind. All I'll be better tomorrow; no need to worry." He flashed him one of those boyish smiles of his as he rubbed the back of his head with a low chuckle.

"If you insist, I will check on you in the morning, but you can come to me if there is something going on." Whitebeard said, moving his large hand to ruffle Ace’s black, wavy hair. Ace wanted to tell Whitebeard he did, but how exactly was he supposed to blurt out that he was a witch or at least had witch blood flowing in his veins? Much less how anyone would believe that.

"Thank you, pops. I'll talk to you later. I have to, uh, go clean!” he said, scurrying away. Leaving as quickly as possible, he had to get everything ready for the raid and somehow sneak some things from the kitchen.

Whitebeard raised an eyebrow watching his second division commander run away from him like that.  How oddHe couldn't help but think. It didn't even sound like Ace would be coming to the Halloween parties he so loved to go to. It was just an excuse for him to talk about his younger brother, Luffy, the whole time. Ace snuck his way into the kitchen. He felt so relieved that  thatch was busy trying to set up the buffet for the party happening right now. Normally, he would guard the kitchen like a guard dog from Ace. In case the Mera user decided to have an early Halloween snack, it wasn't unusual for him to sneak food. Ace gulped as he looked both ways through the hallways before he rushed to his bedroom, locking the door behind him. He had to get this right; this was the only day he could do this. If he got it wrong, he would have to wait another year, and frankly, he didn't think he could wait that long.

"Alright, here goes nothing, I guess. What's the worst that can happen?” Ace mumbled to himself as he set up the ritual on his floor. It was going to be a pain in the ass to clean it up later.

He took shaky deep breaths before he hit his cheeks lightly. "Get a grip," he grumbled before he set the ritual according to what his mother left him. His black brows furrowed after a couple of moments, but nothing happened. He did it perfectly, so why hasn't it worked? He let out a heavy sigh. Honestly, what was he expecting? He turned his back to get stuff cleaned. Only for just right then, and there was a heavy gush of wind knocking over a few of his books, and a gentle woman's voice came through , "Is that you ace?" ort “ I am your mother am I not I would feel honored if you called me mom” Ace swore he could feel his heart still as he turned around, fully seeing a woman with blonde hair and freckles. She looked exactly like she did in the pictures Garp had given him. He was so focused on his mother that he hardly heard his father’s voice next. "What's with the long face, my boy?"

Ace shook his head as he walked closer to him. He wasn't sure what overtook him, but he ran right into his mother’s arms. Tears welling up in his eyes,You're really here,” he couldn't stop the tears from flowing down his freckled cheeks.

Rogue eyes were wide before her face softened up into a smile as she wrapped her arms tightly around her son. "Of course I am here. You called me my son. I have been wanting to talk to you for so many years,” she said in a soft voice, almost breathless as she watched her son cry into her.

Roger and Rogue shared a look before Ace moved his hands, wiping at his eyes. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to cry, but I just... I couldn't help myself, mom. Wait, is it okay if I call you that?"

rogue couldn't help but snort. Before she smiled again moving her hand to tilt ace’s chin up “ I would love for you to call me mom..hearing it comes from you feels me with joy..I just wish I could have been there for you growing up  “ Ace’s lower lip trembled as he felt his throat dry before he felt he was able to say, "It wasn't your fault, mom.” He leaned into the hand that she put on his face. "I don’t remember anything, not for a moment. I was happy for the time I got to spend with you while I was pregnant, and I've been watching over you all these years. I'm so proud of the man my son has become,” she said.

Ace could feel how much his hands were shaking despite the fact they were clutched onto his mother’s shirt. “ You're proud of me?” his voice said in a whisper almost like he couldn't picture his mother actually being proud of her

Ace suddenly paused as her words fully hit him “..wait you said you,'ve been watching over me..does that mean you…that you both heard me talk about ..well my dad' ' he couldn't help but ask. Would his father hate him for how he felt about him?

Roger stepped closer to Ace putting an arm around his shoulder leaning down a little bit so he was closer to his son;s height. “ I did hear the things you said about me, but I was never angry with you  my precious boy, I was angry with how people treated you just for being my son..but ace you were my greatest treasure far greater than the one piece, I,m sorry I wasn't there to raise you with your mother”. Roger said as his large hand moved pushing black hair out of ace’s eyes

“ I am  so proud that you're my son, I don’t think I could be any prouder than I am of you right now” Roger said with that big goofy smile of his.

“ you don't hate me..neither of you do?” he couldn't help but to blurt out   “ Of course not we love you Ace , your everything we ever wanted in a Son” rogue spoke first as she pulled ace closer to her  letting him feel the warmth coming from her

His father spoke next “ it’s just as your mother said we love you Ace and we always will” Roger said as he wrapped his arms around his wife and his son. How he wished he could have seen Ace grow uo, take his first steps, say his first words. And of how he wished he could have taught Ace so much .. he wanted to be a dad more than anything. But at least right now he knew Garp had done a good job with his boy and that was more than enough for Roger; it gave him comfort and relief.

“ Ace My son , Our time is coming to a end , the ritual only allows for a couple of moments since your a beginner keep practicing any of the spells in my notebook and as you get better well be able to talk much much longer and stay with you, the next time we meet I promise I will tell you how me and your father met”: Rogue said with a sad smile

Roger lips curled up “ it’s quite the story ,  We will see you next halloween but remember we will always watching over you, and keep a eye on my old friend whitebeard there man doesn't take care of himself i swear” roger said with a chuckle

“ I promise..i love you to” ace found himself saying as he felt their warmth fading until they were gone. Ace felt himself crumble to his eyes before a smile crossed his lips he wiped at his still teary eyes

“ Guess I have to get better for next halloween right? Mom and dad” he whispered to himself

flower crowns

Sabo, you do know we are on a mission, right?” the brown hair girl questioned as she stared down at him on the ground. “Come on, don’t be that way, Koala. Just sit down and have fun!”. He said with a giant smile crossing his lips, staring up at her from his spot amongst the blue and orange flowers under his body.

Her brown brows furrowed as she crossed her arms.“We have work to do, that’s the whole reason we are out here in the first place,” she said, sounding exasperated with the man. She leaned down closer to their faces, so close to each other yet so far away.

“Come on Sabo, we do not have time for this–” she tried to say, only to let out a loud “OOF” as Sabo grabbed her wrist, yanking her right into his lap, his arms around her waist and his chin on her shoulder.

“Don’t be like that, mh? Maybe you're jealous that I'm paying attention to the flowers more than you?” She sat there wide-eyed, feeling the back of her neck and her ears growing hot as the blush dusted across her cheeks. He put a finger to his lips “You know, what if we made flower crowns? I know you have always wanted to make one. Could it be our thing?” he suggested with that dumb cheerful voice of his.

Koala let out a sigh of defeat: she knew she had to admit she lost the game with that stubborn man. “Fine. But we can’t stay here too long, you know”. She said, turning around and pinching his round cheeks. “Uh-huh, you say so, but you had made no move to get out of my lap,” he teased the poor brown-haired woman.

He moved his large hands and placed a bunch of orange butterfly weeds and a bundle of blue bluebells in her much smaller and cute hand “Let’s use these, Koala!” He suggested to her before her brown eyes glanced down at the bundle. “ Hey Sabo, do you know what these flowers mean?” she asked him, her face feeling hot. She knew that Sabo knew those flowers and what they meant, but so did she.

“Nope, not a clue. Why don’t you tell me?” He asked in a light but teasing manner, the same he always does when he already knows the answer to the question he asked.

Part of her was certain that he just liked to hear her talk. She let out a heavy sigh, tilting her head back to look up at him from her position.

“Butterfly weeds are supposed to represent joy, while it is said that Bluebells are the flowers of undying love”. She could hardly get out with how much she was stammering from her own embarrassment, it was just a coincidence that these were the flowers he had grabbed.

He queried with a blonde brow “Oh really? Had no idea but I think it fits us. Butterfly weed makes me think of you, it almost matches your hair,” He said as he took a strand of her brown hair and brought it up to his lips, leaving a kiss on the lock between his fingers.

Koala stared up at him with wide eyes. Did he like her? Her brain could not wrap around the thought of the very idea that stubborn idiotic Sabo liked her the same way she loved him. It almost felt as if her heart was about to physically burst out of her chest at that exact moment. She could not handle another act like this or she would lose it or, even worse, do something embarrassing again (like the last time she had tried to confess to him, but she ended up telling him “Happy Monday”).

She was interrupted by her thoughts as she felt his finger pinching her cheek. “Earth to Koala, where did you go?” He cooed in her ear, only to jolt when she flung her arm in surprise and hit him on his cheek.

She sulked seeing the red mark on his face and waved her arms frantically “I am so so sorry Sabo, I swear it wasn’t on purpose! I must have spaced out and then you scared me so I just acted–“

Sabo let out a laugh before he grabbed her waving hands “Hey careful, you’ll mess up the flowers there. But if you’re really sorry then… how about kissing me?”

She and Sabo had locked eyes in complete silence for what felt like a solid hour before he puckered his lips.

“Come on, you hit me hard!” he baited, only to find himself blinking when she leaned forward and kissed him on the cheek.

Well, that really was his fault, wasn't it? He never directly said where she could kiss him. But she was so cute he just wanted to grab her face and kiss her. Sabo’s lips curled up into one of his sunshine smiles, but Koala could not raise her eyes to look up at him. She was almost glad she was sitting in his lap like this, mostly because it was harder to turn around and look at him.

“I thought we were making flower crowns?” “We are, I'm gonna show you how right now. You have your flowers, right?” Sabo placed his own flowers next to the ground beside him, his fingers brushing over the flowers in her hands. “First, we are going to braid the flowers like this,” he explained, showing her how to twist and braid the vines of the flowers together. Koala watched as her hands tried to copy his movements.

Sabo was really good at everything he did, sometimes it felt like everything came so easy to him. But what she did not know was that he forced Betty and Ivankov to teach him for months: there were times it almost felt like he would never be able to do it, he even went as far as to practice in his spare time on missions.

Koala let out a groan of frustration as another one of her vines tore and snapped the crown she was making. “This is not fair, how are you so good at this? I'm never gonna get this Sabo, this is the fourth time!” She said dejectedly as she hung her head down. Sabo could have sworn he saw little rain clouds floating over her. “Hey now, don’t be like that, you'll get it. I had to have others teach me. Here, just follow me once more, okay? It does not need to be perfect at all.” “...I guess you are right for once.”

He rolled his eyes despite the laugh that left his lips. He held her hands once more this time moving her fingers, helping her braid the vines. Koala’s brown eyes widened seeing how they weaved into the tight braids Sabo was showing her. After a couple of long moments, Sabo smiled widely “Ahah! There we go, all done”.

He held out the lovely flower crown gleaming under the sunlight: the lovely Bluebells and the orange butterfly weeds just made them seem all the more enchanting as he placed the crown on the top of her head.

He sucked in a sharp breath, his face glowing alight. She was beautiful, how had he really never noticed before was beyond him. His lower lip trembling “Sabo, are you okay? You’re shaking…” Koala asked with worry in those big doe brown eyes of hers.

“H-huh. Sorry, I got lost in my thoughts”, He said, his voice having a little edge of nervousness to it. She quirked a brow since when did Sabo get lost in his own head? He was the type to act first and think later more than often. “You big liar, what terrible scheme are you brewing now.” “Why do I have to be scheming anything?! Can’t I just enjoy spending time with my best friend?” He asked with a tone of amusement laced in his words.

Koala narrowed her eyes “That makes me trust you even less. Just spit it out, Sabo, it can’t be that bad.” Sure how was he supposed to blurt out that he finally saw her as a girl he had never really considered one? He was so sure she would freak out on him but, if he really had to pinpoint when this started, it would have to be on the last job they did together, where they had to pose as a married couple.

Sabo was never one to think of marriage, he really didn’t care about relationships nor did he have the time to partake. But with Koala, part of him wanting to see her in a pretty white dress… the idea became more and more stuck in his head.

He was pulled out of his fantasy by Koala pulling on his cheeks “Hey, I am talking to you! First, you drag me out here while we are working and now you're ignoring me. What is the matter with you ?!” “Let’s get married!” He blurted out, giving the poor woman whiplash from how fast she whipped her head around to face him. “WHAT?!” she exclaimed with wide-darting eyes, feeling like the wind was knocked right out of her chest. Her face resembled one of those ripe cherry tomatoes that they had growing on the base.

Sabo at this point just about was ready to surrender himself to the navy rather than deal with trying to come back from what he just said out loud. He rubbed the black of his golden locks “Ah, did I say that out loud?” He asked with the hope he really had not. “You did and you have not explained yourself!”

He gulped with a nervous expression as he could feel the sweat on his forehead. Well, crap, he would just have to bite the bullet, wouldn’t he?

Sabo turned his body so he was facing her before he grabbed her round face, which made her stare and let out a sound as he leaned closer. A sound of surprise, when his soft lips pressed on her own smaller ones.

Koala felt like the wind had knocked out of her body once more. She moved her hands, gripping his shoulders. The kiss felt so right and something out of a fairytale. Her body felt so light as if she was dreaming the whole thing up. If you had told her four days ago when she left with Sabo that he would have kissed her, she would obviously have laughed it off.

When he pulled away and the air came back to her lungs, she turned a scarlet color “S-Sabo! What was that?!” A cheeky smile crossed that handsome face of his “Well Koala, that was a kiss. I did not realize you didn't know what that was.” “ Now is not the time to get smart, Sabo,” she cried out with tears threatening to bubble up. There was no way Sabo really liked her, he was playing a cruel joke on her!

Upon seeing her tears, he jolted “H-hey, did you hate it that much?” “It’s cruel to play with a girl’s feelings, you know? You're being a jerk!” She said as the tears rolled down her round cheeks. Sabo moved his hands, his thumbs wiping her tears away “ I should have made myself clear Koala. I am not pulling a prank, I am in love with you. I have always been since we met.”

Koala kept getting whiplash at his words “W-what… Why, there are so many girls who are in love with you, Sabo. So tell me, why me?!” “Why you? Why not you Koala, I don’t want anyone but you.” Her lower lip trembled as she gulped “You really feel that way?” “Of course I do, haven't ever said anything I don't mean Koala. You are the most beautiful girl I know, inside and out.” “ Why have you never said anything until now?”

Sabo let out a laugh “I tried, but you kept misunderstanding me. Still, you haven't answered me either, do you like me?” She placed her hands over the top of his warm calloused ones. “I do…I love you, I thought you didn’t like me.” His blue eyes widened before he softened. “Then… After this job, let’s go on a date, mhm?” “Sounds like a plan, be on time for once.” “I wouldn't dream of being late.”

Flowers and teddy bear shaped hearts

Sabo let out a breathy sigh as he looked out across the street towards the Bakery his childhood friend owned. “Teddy bear pastries” was such a Koala thing to name her bakery.

He almost jolted, falling back in his chair as it tipped dangerously low to the floor when he heard the door of his floral shop slam right open as the girl he had been thinking about stormed in, the door shut right when she stood up to the front. “Sabo!” She exclaimed, her hands slamming on the counter and a pout on her lips which he couldn't help but be drawn. Her voice raised suddenly, "are you even listening??" Without realizing it, he'd been so distracted by her that he hadn't heard what she had started saying. “Sorry sorry, what?” Sabo offered to raise his hands in his defense. “You forgot you promised to come and try the new snacks on the menu at the bakery, you big jerk!”

His blue eyes widened and he could feel the sweat on the back of his neck. Ah, crap, he really had forgotten about that: he had been so busy helping Ace at his firework stand it slipped his mind.

“I am so sorry Koala, let me make it up to you,“ he said with a nervous smile on his face, anticipating her to hit him. She put her finger to her lip, thinking it over “Okay, then you will come by after your shift, got it?!” Don’t you dare forget this time. I mean it, Sabo!”. “I wouldn't dare to miss it, swear on my flower shop,” he said with a laugh before he gasped. “Stay right there, Koala!”

She could only stare when he jumped up from his stool, which fell to the ground with a loud clunk as he ran into the backroom. What on earth was he even doing right now? Koala never could figure out what was going on in that thick skull head of his.

She jolted hearing loud crashes from the back room. She winced that sounded painful almost “Er… Sabo, are you alright?” she called out, peaking over the counter with a nervous expression on her face. “Hold on!” he called out with more loud bangs echoing in the room.

The door finally slammed open as he ran out with his hands behind his back with a charming grin on his face. “This better not be like the whoopie pie,” she said. “Nope, it's even better!” He said, pulling out a bouquet behind his back, pushing the pink peonies, the red roses and the pink tulips in her hands.

Her eyes widened as she looked down at them, hiding her face in them to cover up the vibrant pink hue across her round cheeks. “Do you like them?” he asked with a chuckle. “They're beautiful, Thank you!” she stammered out. Why would he give her flowers? Did he like her the same way she did to him?

Sabo rubbed the back of his blonde hair. “I just thought they suited you, that’s all. And I know how you always are whining. I never give you flowers for the bakery.”

She blinked when he had actually been listening to her when she was upset with him for giving flowers to literally everyone else but her. She moved her hand touching the petals before she brought the bundle up to her nose and she inhaled the sweet scent of the flowers.

“I love them, Sabo. They smell wonderful, I'll put them in the shop when I leave here.” She whispered to herself as she held the flowers close to her chest and eyed him with eyes full of affection and longing.

He reached across the counter and cupped her cheek up “Good, a beautiful girl needs beautiful flowers.”

She almost dropped the flowers in her hands to cover her face. Thankfully she had a good grip as she tried to hide behind the flowers “Stop saying stuff like that before I think you're trying to hit on me or something,” she called out from the flowers.

“And what if I am?” He blurted out before his whole face went into a flame, just like the fires his brother fought.

Oh god, had he really just said that out loud even worse. That was not how he wanted to tell her he was trying to ask her out in the first place! He almost face palmed why he was such an idiot. Koala peeked up from the flowers. All he could see was those round brown eyes of hers. They always reminded him of honey if he was honest. “Are you hitting on me?” she managed to squeak out. He almost wanted to laugh or scream “Ah yes, I have been for years but you never notice…” He mumbled with a shy smile on his face and he let out an awkward cough. Well, since this was out in the open, he might as well take his shot. He grabbed both of her hands with his “Koala, will you go on a date with me? You're welcome to slap me if you don’t feel the same way and I overstepped.”

She let out a loud gasp gripping his hands. He liked her back?! “Why didn't you say anything earlier, you dummy?! I've liked you since junior high, how could you be so dense and never notice it?” She questioned him on his own stupidity: it was almost astounding. “ I didn’t hear a no from you,” he announced before he looked at her nervously, knowing he hated it when she was quiet like this: it always scared him he was either in a lot of trouble or she was going to cry. “Yes, I’ll go on a date with you, you big oaf.“ she said with a smile curling on her lips. He leapt over the counter and wrapped his arms around her waist” Really?! You’ll go on one with me! It will be the best date you’ve ever gone on in history! I’m a man of my word”.

Koala tapped her fingers nervously on the bar counter of the bakery. She looked down at the basket, where a koala bear made out of bread was wrapped in plastic with a red ribbon: she had made this a thousand times so why was she so nervous about this? This time was no different, other than the fact she and Sabo were going on a date today. It still felt like a dream she could hardly believe.

Koala threw the basket up in the air when the door opened and a loud ching-ching sound filled her shop. She caught the basket and held it to her chest. She let out a sigh of relief.

It was now or never since she had already planned to confess to Sabo with this basket tomorrow. But he had asked her out already, so she turned on her heel and walked toward him shoving the basket into his chest. “H-here take it!”

Sabo stumbled back, barely catching himself from the force she pushed in his chest. His eyes glanced down. As he looked at the sand colored koala bear.with what looked like editable chocolate for the eyes., how cute “this is really adorable, was this the new item you wanted me to try the other day?”

Koala felt her face burning nice and hot. “J-just try it already! You were begging me for bread.” Sabo raised his hands as a small sly smile crossed his lips. “How can I possibly say no to that”. He jested at her before he opened the package. He took a bite out of the koala-shaped bread.“Oh wow, this is really good! Is this strawberry filling?” He asked with a grin. “Y-yeah, I remember you said I needed more stuff with strawberries that aren't sold out.”

Sabo moved his fingers and brought up a piece to her lips. “Here you have a bite too. I would feel guilty if I am the only one eating.”

She could feel herself staring. Has Sabo always had such a sweet smile?“O-okay, I will. But what do you have planned for our date? if you still wanted to go…”

“ Huh? Of course I still want to go, silly” He assured, poking her forehead the same way he always did when she had self-doubt. She moved her hands up, touching her forehead “You never said what we are doing.”

Sabo cocked his head to the side before he cupped her cheek up. “Hey don’t worry. I promise you this will be an amazing date we’re going to that amusement park you’ve been begging me to go with for weeks now.” Koala’s brown eyes went wide. “Will you really want to take me there? I thought you couldn’t afford to go.” He rubbed the back of his blonde hair “Ah, about that, truthfully I lied. I was saving up for it, so I could ask you to go with me. I didn't want to go with Ace or Luffy, I wanted to go with you.”

Koala blinked at the man who would drop anything to go see his brothers and actually waited just for her to go together. She felt the tears welling up for a moment before she let out a laugh as she wiped them. “You’re such a dork,” she said between laughs. “What can I say? I am a man of my word. I did promise I would take you some day, I got us the VIP tickets so we don’t have to wait in lines.”

“ You thought of everything, didn't you? I don’t think I have ever seen you put so much thought into something before.” Sabo blinked, borderline offended. “Hey! what’s that supposed to mean?” “You act first rather than think it over, you know,” Koala said with a raised eyebrow. “Well, I can’t really be mad, you got me there. But come on, we should go missing daylight. I know for a fact you're going to get scared on the roller coasters."

Koala gasped “I am not! If anyone is going to get scared it will be you!You cried when we watched that horror movie together and stayed at my apartment,” she reminded him, puffing her cheeks out and pouting.

Sabo had to take a moment to compose himself, she was just way too cute when she pouted like that. “Haha you're right, I did but so did you.” He mused out loud before he put an arm around her shoulder, bringing Koala closer to him as he led her out of her shop and turned the open sign to closed after they shut the door.

It felt nice like this: just the two of them, walking together. When he had met Koala all those years ago he never really pictured them being as close as they were. Much less going on their first date together:there had been times in both of their lives they could have met and fallen for someone else but that never really happened. Maybe they were always meant to be together, like it was the universe’s way of telling them.

But for now, Sabo wouldn’t worry too much about that, he had too much to worry about such as thinking of how to make her feel nothing but happy on this date.

Holy fuckin’ hell. I can’t believe it’s been two years! I almost forgot in fact. I was looking through my old pride posts from last year and saw I had a one year anniversary and was like ‘oh wow’

I have been back in the fandom for TWO years! I’ve been into One Piece for 23-24 years at this point I think? Almost near the start. I found OP by accident but man I am glad I found it <3

So I started writing canon content all those years ago, came back and did reader x and once again fell back into canon. Sitting on that fence and dabbling in both sides as well as the OC x canon stuff which I adore!

It’s been a blast being here and indulging in everyone's art, fics, cosplays and the rest. Seeing the creative people, being part of that community and getting to be seen. Thank you all for the support, the reblogs, the requests and the messages! I very much appreciate it and love being here.

So I decided I would do a giveaway!

Star crossed lovers

According to the rumors deep in the vast forest of nymphs and other creatures that walked around the land .There was a lonely kitsune who had everything life had to offer.  He had everything he could ever want, everything that was but a lover.  Across the years he had found men who wanted to appease him by offering their bodies and souls laid bare to him . But even that was not enough for him , humans all died so young and so much faster than he would have liked. The Kitsune ran his fingers through his black silky locks, sighing at the gifts left at his shrine once more .  He had told humans time and time again that he did not require gifts or even food.  His pointy ears twitched hearing the jingle of the totem around his shrine he had to alert him of anyone snooping around. Izou arched a thin black eyebrow as he stepped out of his shrine, his long black and golden robes dragging behind him on the ground . His shoes clacked as he turned the corner.  He had to suppress a gasp seeing what looked to be a Nymph .  He had heard rumors of a garden Nymph getting into everyone’s offerings. “ And who might you be?” He asked, his voice lacking any amusement despite the curl of his red painted lips . The Nymph in question let out a loud yelp tripping over his own feet and landing right into the koi pond. He sat up with a fish in his hair , he blew a strand out of his eyes . As he sat there soaked his white tunic sticking to his chest . He let out a loud laugh rubbing the back of his head“Ah I'm not making a very good first impression am I?, the name is Thatch , what’s your name?” Izou pinched the bridge of his nose  “ Izou is my name , so Thatch this does not explain what you are doing around my shrine. “ Thatch’s face tinted pink “ Ah I wanted to meet you but I heard you liked lava lilies so I was trying to place them with your offerings in hope you would come out.” “ If that was the case you could have just knocked on my shrine door, instead of looking like an utter fool” “ I do look pretty dumb huh? But I think it was worth it, you're much more extraordinary in person if I say so myself” . He said flashing a cheesy smile in the Kiatune’s direction . Izou blinked before he felt his face turn red, damn him it was like he was trying to get him worked up on purpose . He could withstand human men; they were nothing but a means to an end but this man was different . Maybe it was due to the fact he was a creature like himself. “ Flattery will get you nowhere you know , you have to fix my flowers and pay for scaring my poor koi fish,” “O-oh sorry about that , I can replant the flowers but uh how can I make it up to you?” Izou sighed, pushing his hair out of his eyes “ Well since you gave me such a headache . You may come to my shrine for a cup of tea and tell me why you wanted to see me so badly.” Thatch winced before his whole face lit up like the sun jumping out of the koi pond right over to him “ Really?!” “ Hold it, you may come once you are wearing something not so wet and flimsy , ring the bell when you come back.” Izou said as he turned on his heel walking back into his shrine the doors locking in place. Izou put his hand over his face. What was he even doing at this point? It's not like he could back off this now . He just hoped he would not regret this decision. He was only going to have a cup of tea with Thatch, that was all, so why was his heart racing. Like it once did when he had a new kitsune .                                             xx

Izou jolted hearing the bell ring of his shrine . He stood up opening the door to see that same garden Nymph from before . Thank the heavens he was wearing something that would not make Izou feel like he would explode . “It’s nice to see you can dress up,“ “I always dress to impress! “ Thatch countered with a arched eyebrow Izou shook his head “Just get in, I made the tea already, “ he said before pausing “what’s that in your hands?” Thatch let out a laugh “I like to cook so i asked your worshippers what foods you like so i made some onigiri, “ Izou could not help but to look surprised at that. A red tint matching his lipstick spread over his cheeks .“Is that so then it would be a waste to not give them at least a try,” He mused out loud with a sliver of a smile. “You won’t find anyone who can cook better than me, just so you know, “ Thatch said wiggling his brown brows at him getting in his face. Izou moved his hand pushing his face from his “Don’t get ahead of yourself there dumpling,” “Eh? Are you saying i'm chubby or something?” Thatch asked. “Mhm if the shoe fits.“ Thatch gasped pushing him over before he paled ah shit this day really was not going the way he would like. But it felt so natural to be around the Kistune like this it almost felt as if he knew him in another lifetime. Izou chuckled as he poured two cups of his finest green tea handing it to Thatch “Here drink before you say something stupid,“ He raised an eyebrow but took it, sipping it, his lips puckering. Oh that was bitter he forced a smile “It’s delicious thank you,“ Thatch forced himself to get out just barely able to. Izou’s lips curled up  “You don’t have to lie to appease me, green tea is not for everyone,“ Thatch relaxed “I was not trying to be insulting the taste is good but it’s not my thing:” Izou leaned back “So tell me why did you want to meet me was it because of the rumors of my beauty or something more>“ “Truthfully I wanted a friend, I have none here, sure there is the giant man, but he sees me more as a son, rather than a friend,” Thatch remarked with a fond expression on his face. “Ah whitebeard tends to be that way, you want to be friends? My answer is no,” Izou said as he took a sip out of his teacup. Thatch’s chocolate brown eyes went wide “Huh?! Why not?!” He exclaimed in complete and utter shock. Izou snorted “As ifI would be friends with someone who fell into my pond and scared my poor koi fish, you lack elegance, “ Instead of being turned away Thach grinned wider “ I will make you be my friend, you'll have to admit it.” “Fine then will give you one year to make me admit to being your friend,” “Challenge accepted! And just know I plan to win.”
