Can we support him please?!

I would love to share this with everyone who may happen to see this post. Please support this wonderful human being. He spent nearly a half century in prison for a crime he never committed. And the only thing that kept him going was his artistic endeavors. He deserves the best life can offer anyone ❀️

I am literally begging, BEGGING modern media to portray healthy relationships. enough cheating. enough infidelity. enough disrespect. show me people who love each other, proper communication, and a strong mental as well as physical connection. I want plots about people who are madly in love with each other and STAY madly in love with each other. please. I am losing my mind.

Meanwhile in Scotland…

YO, there are SO MANY great groom outfits around the world where he is dressed all in silk, lace, gold, pearls and glitter, with capes and scarves, hats and stitchery and I find it so sad that most of these countries switch over to β€œsuit”. Like, look at these handsome boys!

I’ve seen this image going around, and I feel compelled to point out that it’s only half-right. It’s true that high heels were originally a masculine fashion, but they weren’t originally worn by butchers - nor for any other utilitarian purpose, for that matter.

High heels were worn by men for exactly the same reason they’re worn by women today: to display one’s legs to best effect. Until quite recently, shapely, well-toned calves and thighs were regarded as an absolute prerequisite for male attractiveness. That’s why you see so many paintings of famous men framed to show off their legs - like this one of George Washington displaying his fantastic calves:

… or this one of Louis XIV of France rocking a fabulous pair of red platform heels (check out those thighs!):

… or even this one of Charles I of England showing off his high-heeled riding boots - note, again, the visual emphasis on his well-formed calves:

In summary: were high heels originally worn by men? Yes. Were they worn to keep blood off their feet? No at all - they were worn for the same reason they’re worn today: to look fabulous.

so then how did they become a solo feminine item of attire?

A variety of reasons. In France, for example, high heels fell out out of favour in the court of Napoleon due to their association with aristocratic decadence, while in England, the more conservative fashions of the Victorian era regarded it as indecent for a man to openly display his calves.

But then, fashions come and go. The real question is why heels never came back into fashion for men - and that can be laid squarely at the feet of institutionalised homophobia. Essentially, heels for men were never revived because, by the early 20th Century, sexually provocative attire for men had come to be associated with homosexuality; the resulting moral panic ushered in an era of drab, blocky, fully concealing menswear in which a well-turned calf simply had no place - a setback from which men’s fashion has yet to fully recover.

Thank you, history side of tumblr. That β€œstay out of blood” thing has been driving me mad.

Wait. So, you’re telling me that the reason straight boys dress horribly is because they’re not over a 100 year old gay panic?

You’re telling me that the gross, baggy, shapeless menswear that has been almost singlehandedlyΒ ruining my life is the result of a bunch of dudes in the 1900’s collectively going β€˜AAAAH WHAT IF THEY THINK WE’RE GAY’

Fuck that shit. BRING BACK MENS HEELS

BRING BACK MENS TIGHTS

MAKE MEN SEXY AGAIN

this photo destroyed me.

on the right you have this family who has lived through so much tragedy, finally achieving the main goal after like 50 years, but without the son and brother they love so much there with them.

and then on the left you have the first black female vice president who was close friends with the son that passed away and misses him too, applauding them and holding them up. and she’s gonna be there for her late friend’s dad as VP when he couldn’t 😭😭😭

so much joy and so much sorrow.

Fundraiser for my family

https://gofund.me/c64bda46

My dear people of every country, every nationality!Β

My name os Patricia Ilicin and I currently live in Germany. As you've probably caught on by now, there has been a horrible earthquake with the epicentre in my hometown, Petrinja. The town and the villages are in a horrible state, the whole situation was like from a horror movie and the people there are devastated.

My family (parents, sisters, grandparents) is also one of the ones who lost a lot - my parents' house, my grandma's house, my grandpa's house... The roofs have suffered pretty badly, chimneys fell through and into the attics, walls are badly cracked, TVs broken; there is so much damage done that I can't even stay calm writing this. Since there's been a lot of damage in the three houses, all of it has to - of course - get repaired for my families to move back into their homes. Sadly, my family doesn't have the money to pay for all the costs to repair those damages. I am also away from them and so heartbroken and because of the COVID situation at hand, I'm not able to visit or help in any other way than to donate to them - which I already did. The donations will be sent to my family so that they can fix their homes in time and that they don't have to sleep in their cars anymore, since they're all scared to stay in the houses - which aren't suitable for normal living anymore. This way, I would ask of anyone who sees this gofundme to donate if even a small amount - know that it means a lot to me and my family. I want to thank everyone in advance who donates, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
