this is an important point for me to make so im gonna make it. i know people are going to be pissed, but it needs to be addressed and i want to try and reach as many people as i can with this point since im so deeply disturbed by people’s reactions. if you don’t like this point im making, please ignore it and keep enjoying the show, because i dont want it ruining other people’s experience and youre valid to see some criticism and go “i just wanna look past it.” but i also don’t want people seeing this point and minimizing what’s the result of some seriously flawed writing. and i can make a critique of the show and still love it. a good show can still mess up. and i really feel this was a major screw up.

at first i was honestly very pleased that the crewniverse was willing to handle a character who is autistic- or well- autistic coded. but then when the new episodes started to come out, it really made it clear they honestly don’t care about autistic kids at all.

every single one of her comfort items are taken away from her- often for comedy relief. its supposedly funny the way amethyst tosses her limb enhancers away, or how she was so desperate to have the comfort of them again she wore paint cans on her feet, or how ridiculous she looks with a ipad strapped to her arm. its not funny.

when she first is on earth, they literally put her in a child leash, and tie her to a pole. even though all gems are adults, you’re supposed to find it funny they’re treating her like a child- which autistic adults and teenagers often face which is humiliating and traumatizing. the deleted scene where shes strapped in a baby chair is even fucking worse and terrible to think of especially since shes supposed to be autistic. its disgusting.

we’re supposed to laugh at the odd way she words things, like autistic ppl including myself are often shamed and laughed at for. instead of having them explain to her the proper way to say things, amethyst and steven laugh at her.

even in the scene where a silly tv show becomes her special interest the way she obsessed over it and proceeds to explain it to steven is shown as weird and comedic. we’re supposed to laugh at how ridiculously obsessed she is and see her special interest as something odd.

so short version: the crewniverse shouldve never tried to make peridot autistic and treat her like a stupid little gremlin

a good way of mapping how SU feels less whole these days is comparing:

dont get mad at trans ppl for using the “wrong”/out of date terminology to describe their own experiences like

if a trans dude says “back when i was a girl” or “i was born in the wrong body” just. let them. if they feel it describes their experiences the best, then it’s good for them

as long as theyre not using it to describe other people who may not be comfortable with, it’s ok

Looks like there’s some stuff going around abt me in the SU critical community, didn’t want to talk about it because I wasn’t comfortable with addressing such a serious topic on my sideblog, better on my main.

I unknowingly reblogged rape art to my nsfw sideblog, I’ve now since deleted it but the damage has already been done.

That blog wasn’t private and was accessible to pretty much anyone who’s an adult. I also put warnings stating I don’t condone harmful content and I would like to be told that if it ever happens. I don’t like this idea that it was my Deep Dark Secret™ when it was just me being responsible on a blog I had already set up to be as appropriate as I possible could.

I don’t blame people for being uncomfortable but I despise that despite literally being as direct and clear as I possibly could, people refuse to accept that I made a genuine mistake and I’m not happy about it.

I don’t have a rape fetish, or whatever, I’m a cocsa victim and rape is literally one of my main triggers.

I just read the plot of this and somehow it gets worse???

the dwarfs are princes under a curse. In order to break the spell, they need a pair of magic red shoes. But currently the red shoes are owned by Snow White, who, get this, has “let herself go” but when she wears the shoes, they show how beautiful she is on the inside—aka thin.

So basically in order for the princes to break the curse, they have to doom Snow White to a life of fatness. why do they hate us so much.

Yikes…

Me: *sees the chubby snow white* “Omg she is so beautiful! I love that they are having female leads with this body type I love it I love her! *Reads the description* What the fuck.. This is literally saying fat is ugly. The fact that these shoes show a “more beautiful” her and this more beautiful version of her is just her thin is disgusting. Without the shoes she is not a monster. She is beautiful! How dare can someone come up with this! I hope this movie is banned locked away and burn the key. This is literally comparing being fat to being a curse. Disgusting. They describe her body as her letting herself go… What message are you giving out to kids?!?! True beauty is only being thin?
