i don't know if you guys have been keeping up with the women's world cup but this past sunday spain won against england. and you would think this would be the best moment of their careers and their lives but you wanna know what happened?

the spanish football federation's president non-consensually kissed one of the players, jenni hermoso, on the mouth when they were celebrating. this grown ass man took it upon himself to ruin the celebration for ALL the women who just achieved the thing they have been preparing for all their lives, literally the peak of a football player's career, they did it and he by himself ruined it.

and i say all the women because the other players, along 58 currently inactive and ex-players, stood up for jenni hermoso and have refused to play for the team until luis rubiales publicly apologizes and renounces his spot. now the rfef says they'll take legal action against the players and jenni for lying and because they have an obligation to play for the team.

do you remember how the men's world cup celebrations went? i do, im from argentina. no one said anything to any of the players, they were treated like kings for months and they are worshipped to this day. and rightfully so! they earned it i guess. but we do see the discrepancy?

how is it that we allow as a society for one man to sexually assault a woman right after achieving the thing another group of men got ceaselessly venerated for not even a year later? what do women have to do to earn respect? win the world cup? become the pride and joy of their country?

A jury has reached a verdict at the civil trial where former President Donald Trump is accused of raping and defaming writer E. Jean Carroll.

Deliberations by the nine-member jury began after Judge Lewis Kaplan gave the panel final instructions and a verdict form in U.S. District Court in Manhattan.

Carroll, 79, alleged in a lawsuit that Trump sexually assaulted her in a dressing room of the Bergdorf Goodman department store in the mid-1990s.

Johnny Depp made it harder for women to be believed about domestic violence and sexual assault. THANK YOU JOHNNY!!!

When MRAs and rape supporters (but I repeat myself...) are the ones celebrating alongside you, you should probably rethink your position.

it’s funny to me when men respond to “i fear men so i avoid them” with “oh yeah? Well I’m gonna avoid women!” because that’s like no threat whatsoever. I am zero percent bothered by this. You go right ahead, buddy.

[Excerpts from article by Mike Drucker titled "I’m Willing To Throw People Under The Bus If It Means Pretending To Relive My Childhood"

Subheading: How can I support a group if supporting them involves even the slightest inconvenience to me, the main character of the universe?

I’m the night auditor at a hotel with a major homeless problem. Every night, it’s something or someone new.
It’s around 11:45 and I’m forty-five minutes into my shift. This man walks in, goes straight to the TV in the lobby, and feels around for the button to turn it on.
Man: “Can I have the remote?”
Me: “Do you have a room here?”
Man: “Yes.”
Honestly, I don’t feel like being wrong in a confrontation if the man is, in fact, a guest, so I don’t question it.
Once he falls asleep, though, that’s where I draw the line. That’s it. I yell, ‘Sir,” at least ten times and flicker the lights on and off. Nothing.
So, I get up, go upstairs, get a stray luggage cart that I know makes a ton of noise, and come back to “put it up”. The squeaky mess of a cart wakes him up as I pass him, and he looks at me like I’m the villain in his story — the evil woman that won’t let him sleep on the couch in her place of business.
Me: “Sir, you can’t sleep here. You need to go up to your room or you need to leave.”
He gets up, huffs, and walks right out the door. I watch him go off in an odd direction, not out of the parking lot at all. He goes right around the building to the pool and HOPS THE FENCE.
I go right out to the glass door and stand there with my arms crossed until he notices me. He finds my presence funny. I don’t. I unlock the door with my master key.
Me: “If you have to jump the fence, you probably shouldn’t be here.”
He feigns insanity and confusion. He’s disoriented now, his eyes are squinting, and I’m no longer funny.
Man: “I was just charging my phone.”
Me: “No, you’re not. You’re out by the pool, and there isn’t a phone. You were asked to leave and you’re sneaking around.”
He sucks his teeth; now I’m just annoying to him.
Man: “Well, can I come through that door, then?”
Me: “No. I kicked you out of the hotel. You can wait right there until the police come.”
He found a way in; he can find a way out if he wants to. Then, I close the door and walk away, already dialing the non-emergency line.
He knocks on the door.
Man: “You don’t have to call the police for this! This is doing too much!”
Maybe it was, but at that point, I had to make a stand and set an example.
The cops came, and they eventually found him and served him a trespassing notice, and I got a happy, spiteful ending.

Imagine being such a POS you brag about siccing the cops on a homeless man for trying to find someplace to sleep. The descriptions of OP as not funny, annoying, spiteful, and evil fit her to a T.

(We are in seventh grade and taking an honors course. This course is at a ninth-grade level and worth a high school credit. Today we’re looking at specimens through microscopes. One girl has just taken out a tube of something I assume is Chap-Stick.)
Girl: “…and then you put the glitter on the base, and…”
Teacher: “Woah, woah woah woah woah! Stop it right there! Is that glitter glue?!”
Girl: *along with her friend* “Well, yeah.”
Teacher: “Why the h**** are you putting glitter glue in my microscope?!”
Girl: “Um, because it needed glitterizing…”
Girl’s Friend: “See? Now it looks more glamorous!”
(Thankfully, the teacher managed to wash the glitter glue off before it broke the microscope or something. The two idiots managed somehow to stay in the class, despite repeatedly pulling stunts like this. In one semester they managed to break the smart board, download a virus on the teacher’s personal laptop, and crack ceiling tiles. They also continuously did stupid “experiments” that usually involved One Direction, and continuously blasted Taylor Swift from their phones.)

Oh, a story about girls being allowed in a class they aren't qualified to be in? And their bad behavior and obvious lack of qualification is ignored? Revolutionary. Anyway, here's a poll:

[Today, my sister called my Native American friend a bigot for saying he had no problem with the name “Cleveland Indians”. FML]

The least believable thing about this story isn’t actually that a brown person willingly went within 10 feet of OP.

The least believable thing about this story is the implication that OP actually agrees that Native Americans should be listened to when they say something is offensive and hurtful.

This is the top comment on this FML:

[Top comment

Political correctness seems to be the domain of the white person telling others what is and isn’t offensive on behalf of the minority groups. Without their actual input.]

To hear these white people tell it, they’re not ignoring us when we speak up about racism, because we’re not actually saying anything. All the objections come solely from self-important white people speaking on our behalf. They ARE listening to us, it’s just that we’re somehow not speaking about it at all, ever, unless we’re backing them up.

J*hnny d*pp has earned $116 million since amber heard first came out about him abusing her. He continued to be in h*rry p*tter, murder on the orient express, pirates and several other movies. The idea that his career was ruined by her allegations are a joke, never mind that benign article where she didn’t even name him, considering he earned $116 million after

That everyone accepted this framing, that she “ruined his career”, makes me so fucking furious. It doesn’t hold up to an ounce of scrutiny once you think about it for more than two goddamn seconds:

  1. Hollywood does not care about abuse allegations! Bill Cosby, Roman Polanski, Woody Allen, Sean Penn, they all had thriving careers even after their crimes became known to the public.
  2. Depp became known for being excessively difficult to work with. He’d show up to set late, he’d show up high, he’d show up drunk, he stopped memorizing his lines and needed them fed through an earpiece! He also violently assaulted a crew member. All this probably would have been fine with The Execs, but…
  3. Depp-fronted movies weren’t making money! The Lone Ranger bombed, Pirates 4 and 5 drastically under performed, Transcendence flopped, Crimes of Grindelwald flopped, there are like 4 other movies he starred in that flopped so hard I can’t even remember them! He stopped being a reliable moneymaker, which is the only thing Hollywood really cares about.

If anyone “ruined” his career besides himself, it was this 2018 Rolling Stone piece that revealed all his unhinged behavior to the public. But he didn’t sue Stephen Rodrick, he didn’t sue Rolling Stone, he didn’t sue the ACLU (they admitted to ghostwriting Heard’s op-ed), he didn’t sue the Washington Post for publishing it, he sued his victim. He did so in a Virginia court to take advantage of weak laws against frivolous lawsuits and he had it live streamed so that not only would she be forced to relive his abuse and assault of her in front of the entire world, but also so he could sic his vicious stans on her.

In contrast, he has done immeasurable damage to her career. She was a solid performer on the rise when they met and studios are going to regard her as toxic for years, regardless of her talent, the truth of the allegations, anything. She escaped Depp and he has spent the last 7 years abusing her via the legal system. He made legions of people complicit in his abuse. He emboldened countless abusers to copy his playbook in silencing their victims.

Fuck the Tiktokers who mocked Heard’s testimony, fuck the YouTubers that made thousands livestreaming the trial, fuck the media that portrayed this as celebrity nonsense, fuck the right wing idealogues that highjacked the discourse, fuck that non-sequestered jury, and fuck anyone who tries to paint themselves as a reasonable centrist with “well they both sound toxic to me”.

saying it’s weird to be obsessed with this case is reserved for men using amber as a stand-in for all their hatred for women and acting under the disguise of “caring about male victims” after they turned brendan fraser into a meme.

that’s not applicable to the people outraged at this verdict. this is a major case with massive implications. do not tell me, other victims of violence, and even women who are not victims of violence, that it’s weird to care so much about this case.

it’s not weird for us to be scared about what this means for amber, other survivors, and for ourselves. uk outlets are already saying police are seeing massive spikes in people rescinding DV/SA/IPV accusations. do you think that’s a coincidence?

this trial set victim rights back decades. we have the right to care and to keep talking about it. stop silencing women. stop gaslighting women.

More thoughts about the OJ case... The prosecutors had 62 DOCUMENTED INSTANCES of Simpson's abuse of his ex, but they stopped presenting them in court and switched tactics when a dismissed juror who had herself been a victim of DV scoffed at the evidence, called it "a whole lot of nothing" and said it didn't mean he was guilty of murder, because they realized being a victim of DV does not necessarily engender any sympathy for other victims. Post-trial, a few jurors shared that they felt the DV evidence presented during the trial was "a waste of time."
