DON’T SCROLL PAST THIS
for the last 2+ weeks, the Amazon has been catching fire. Yes, it’s the season where that’s normal but because of the sayings (aka incentive) of our new president, some farmers are taking advantage of that and intentionally setting the trees on fire. Yesterday, because of this, the sky of São Paulo looked like this. AT THREE IN THE AFTERNOON.
Hospitals of the northern states are filling up with people (especially children and seniors) claiming they can’t breathe properly. ALREADY ENDANGERED ANIMALS ARE DYING. THIS IS SERIOUS.
Germany and Norway, huge donators to the Amazon cause will stop sending money because they don’t see results (that can also be credited to our president, who has been tweeting angrily ever since - not because he cares about the environment, btw). That money gives this guy and his team equipment to save little guys like these:
THIS AFFECTS EVERYONE, NOT JUST BRAZILIANS. The Amazon is the largest rainforest in the world, and it’s being destroyed. WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING.
If your country is holding elections, vote for someone who cares about this. Don’t let another Bolsonaro or another Trump have the power to do something and then do nothing. This is going to shape our future — if we have one.

side note: not to sound bitter or ungrateful but also like what’s up with Europe... y’all exploited South America for centuries but just because you “aren’t seeing results” you stop helping altogether?? if you really wanted to help you wouldn’t stop because you think you aren’t helping lol
I am Brazilian and I live in São Paulo.
Idk if you guys know anything about Brazilian geography but the Amazon rainforest is quite far from São Paulo, which is more in the south, while the forest is in the north, so that shows A LOT about how big it was.
The actual government, President Jair Bolsonaro, is far worse than Donald Trump, if you all need a comparation. When the media told him he supports the deforestation, he ironized calling himself “doctor chainsaw”. This government gives no shit to our forest. Information came to us saying that since last year the deforestation rised in 88%. Bolsonaro got mad they released this information and made him look bad, not because the deforestation rised.
Animals are dying. People are dying. Not counting on our indigenous people, our Native Americans. In the north, where Amazonia is, it’s where we can find the bigger number of reserves. Bolsonaro said that while he’s president, there are no such thing as “Indian reserves”. It’s their land and they are being kicked out of it all over again just like centuries ago.
Brazil and Amazonia needs help. And posting #PrayForBrazil or #PrayForAmazonia, it’s not enough.
We Brazilians are trying to resist. Though it’s very important that the world learns what’s going on here. Everyone needs to know what’s in risk. Not only Amazonia, but people as well. The world needs to know.

Was you first
What had first started off as a small thing of sniffles turned fast into a really bad flu. Your head was burning so you could barely think straight and your nose was so clogged it you were wondering if you were still alive
You had no idea what day it was or how long you’d been sick seeing as the days had just blurred and mushed together.
You woke up feeling slightly better, even though it was only slightly it perked your spirits up quite a bit. You were considering just falling back asleep when you got a text
You moved your hand around the bedside table, too weak to actually turn your body When you finally grabbed it and looked to see what it was, it was a text from Ben
Benny : Are you ok love ? Do you need anything?
You: Not gonna lie, I’ve been better... Staying home tonight? Check
You were waiting for a reply but when you didn’t get one you just sighed, not having the energy to care and dropped the phone beside you before shutting your eyes again.
You had been asleep for a little while when you heard the knocking on your door you groaned as you got up. You looked up from the bed to your closed door at the sound of someone knocking on the door.
“Who is it?” You called out, slightly worried.
The door creaked open revealing your boyfriend.
He was dressed in sweatpants and a loose white t-shirt, his face was much paler than usual, and that was saying something, there were dark circles under his eyes and his nose was tinged pink.
“I got sick.” He stated, his voice croaky and hoarse.
“Baby.” You spoke sympathetically, a smile coming at your lips at how adorably pathetic he looked. “Come on.” You smiled softly, extending your arms out, inviting him into them.
He went forward and took the blankets toward his body and you were really happy for the extra heat he was giving you as you hugged him, nuzzling into your body you felt safe, he laid his head in your belly and his arms hugged your waist.
“My poor baby.” You sighed as you ran your fingers through his blond hair. His eyes were closed at the soothing action and his grip on your hips tightened.
“no you’re the sickest out of both of us. You’re the poor baby.” Ben replied before looking up at you
“True, but the worst is still coming for you” tou reasoned him
“We’re both poor babies then.” Ben decided making you smile.
You agreed before he leant up and placed a gentle kiss to your lips. The two of you fell into a passable silence.
“What are we gonna do?” He murmured to you after the two of you lay in silence for a while.
“Watch a movie?” You suggested making his eyes
“What about a Friends marathon instead?” He suggested making the spark in your eyes shine bright
“Hell yeah baby “ Ben opened your laptop and started looking for the show in the catalog
The two of you watched episode after episode for the whole day. At some point Ben gained energy to go downstairs and make tea and make some popcorn for the two of you
The last thing you remember was watching whene Rachel were kissing Ross for the very first time which was basically the best episode of them all and them your eyes started dropping and Ben were already asleep.
You closed the laptop and pushed it to the end of the bed before glancing down at Ben as him so peacefully sleeps, you smiled softly before snuggling down under the covers, wrapping your arms around him. You shut your eyes and let the urge to sleep take over and in a couple of minutes you were out.
That night Joe went to pay you a visit, knowing you were sick, he found you and Ben cuddled together, popcorn littered around you and the two of you snoring louder due to your clogged noses.
“Poor babies.” Joe spoke sympathetically, closing the door.
