people of color in period and fantasy dramas

@pocinperioddramas / pocinperioddramas.tumblr.com

A resource blog focusing on characters played by actors of color (whitewashed roles - as in characters of color played by white actors - are not counted) in period dramas and pseudo-historical fantasy dramas or historical fantasies, especially in Western media (particularly movies and TV series, but characters of color in historical fiction and period fantasy books and other media are also included to a lesser extent). Non-Western media is also counted, though there is definitely a greater focus on media in the Western world. We are open to comments, suggestions for improvement, and requests, and our ask box and submission page are always open unless stated otherwise. We are now accepting admin/moderator applications. Click 'Apply to be an Admin' in the links to fill out the application form. Icon is Angel Coulby as Guinevere in BBC's "Merlin" (2008-2012). Header is Sibylla Deen as Ankhesenamun in the miniseries "Tut" (2015). Not a fully trigger-free and spoiler-free blog. Message us if you want to have certain triggers or spoilers tagged. Admin Dawn is currently on a semi-hiatus. Tracking the tags #pocinperioddramas and #poc in period dramas

Hi guys! I know I’ve only been erratically active these days, and I’m sorry - school tends to keep me busy. I can’t promise to make up for it totally, but in the near future, I’ll hopefully be somewhat more active on this blog starting March, and in April and May too as that’s when our summer vacation will be held. Also, I know I’ve kept all those who have applied to be admins/mods of this blog waiting for quite some time now, and I apologize for that. But I’ll definitely soon be posting the mods who have been accepted and I will privately message you as well, so keep an eye out for that :)

In the meantime, you can also follow me on my new multi-fandom blog @joanofkent, which is different from my old main blog of @plantagenetdynasty - which is now on a semi-hiatus and may soon be archived if I feel like it, as it is part of a past that I now consider generally cringey and embarrassing and it is something I’ve decided to move on from for the most part, as I’ve learned so much since I began that blog (and I am still learning to this day) and it is enough for me to want a fresh start.

So if you’re interested and/or we share any of the same interests, you can go ahead and follow my new blog ^ :)

Edit: pls click for full size ;^;

Reposting because Tumblr hates me. Inej Ghafa, the Wraith, from the Six of Crows duology. I hope I did her justice! Done in Photoshop with a Wacom Intuos Pro, approx. 30hrs of work. (btw if the pics look sorta washed out, can you let me know? my monitor has really good color calibration but my phone doesn’t so I’m not sure the colors are as rich as they’re supposed to be.) I’ll probably do Kaz and Nina next, but it might take awhile. I have a lot of personal projects I want to get done this year, and I don’t do fanart basically ever.

She’s gorgeous

Benvolio Montague and Rosaline Capulet in every episode of Still Star Crossed

All this is your fault. How on earth do you blame me? If you’d calmed Tybalt down instead of fanning the flames, or if you’d killed him yourself instead of letting Romeo do it, none of this would’ve happened. Our city wouldn’t be in ruins. Neither of our families would’ve lost their heirs. Of course it’s my fault Montague and Capulet only managed to squeeze out a single child apiece. And if I’d only thought to sacrifice my own life. Did you never think you could’ve kept Juliet from marrying my cousin in the first place? Maybe all this is on you. Maybe. So I’ll not burden you with my presence. Thank you for saving me. Goodbye. You’re welcome!

You should definitely check out Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812. It’s a Broadway musical based of off War and Peace.

Thank you, I’ll be sure to - I have been meaning to take a look at it since I heard that Phillipa Soo, whose performance in Hamilton I enjoyed, starred as Natasha Rostova, but this will definitely motivate me more. I’ll probably reblog edits and graphics of it soon! :)-Admin Dawn
