PSA:

As many of you (probably?) know, I live in the United States, so my time zones are all North American. Well, for the next four months that's going to change! I'm studying abroad in Australia, so I'm about to enter a very different timezone. I'm super excited, but it does mean that if you're trying to get ahold of me and you live in the Americas or Europe (which is a lot of people who I interact with) it might be a bit hard to talk to me immediately. You'll probably also see me being active at extremely odd hours, also owing to the time difference.

But fear not, I will still do my best to log on every now and then, and if anyone messages me/sends me asks I will respond as soon as I see them. I'm also going to pin this post to the top of my blog, as both a friendly reminder and FYI for any new people.

Thanks for reading!

Coming in to Land (Annie Park, Masters of the Air OC)

England

Spring 1945

Days tended to be uneventful now that the end of the war was imminent. A far cry from how the busiest days of ’43 and ’44 had gone, with a seemingly never-ending stream of airplanes taking off every morning, Annie watched as Major Cleven’s plane took off on its milk run followed by several others in a neat line, leaving the runway quiet and empty in their wake.

Lord, guard and guide the men who fly through the great spaces of the sky. The brass believed the Germans should (hopefully) honor the proposed truce, if they had any decency left in them at all, but after reading the newspapers recently Annie privately thought that decency was a virtue that German high command was not at all blessed with. She didn’t trust them.

“You’ll feel so homesick that you’ll want to die, and there’s nothing you can do about it apart from endure it. But you will, and it won’t kill you… and one day the sun will come out and you’ll realize that this is where your life is.”

War Paint (Masters of the Air OC)

Introducing First Sergeant Annie Park of the Women's Army Corps. Korean-American, originally from Honolulu, Hawai'i, and newly twenty-one in August 1943, she works as a control tower operator at Thorpe Abbotts.

I was not planning on unveiling a MotA OC this early on, but Annie grabbed me by the arm and would not let me go. Please enjoy this short bit of fluff, and let me know if you'd like to see more of her!

England

August 1943

Annie stubbornly ignored the trickle of sweat which ran from her neck down her shoulder blades to the small of her back as she bent over the nose of the B-17. Though the day was hot, perhaps the hottest one since she’d arrived in England that spring, she reminded herself as her paintbrush glided across the bomber’s metal surface that she’d frequently endured far hotter back home. Better to finish this quickly and spend the rest of her day off with her feet up and a bottle of Coca-Cola in hand than to gripe about the heat and throw in the towel now.
