SERGEI YESENIN. Some interesting facts.

Sergei Yesenin was a famous Russian lyric poet of the 20th century.

✒️Was born to a peasant family.

✒️He grew up with his grandparents and uncles.

✒️Yesenin wrote more than 30 poems during his school years.

✒️Since 1913 was really interested in Christianity.

✒️Was described as "a gem of a peasant poet" by Alexander Blok, another Russian famous poet.

✒️He supported the February Revolution.

✒️Yesenin was married to the Paris-based American dancer Isadora Duncan, a woman 18 years his senior. They broke up a year later in May 1923.

✒️Yesenin spent his year with Isadora in Europe and then in the United States (and didn't like this country btw).

✒️Actress Augusta Miklashevskaya was his lover.

✒️He had a son Alexander Yesenin-Volpin who became a famous mathematician and teacher in the US.

✒️His death in a hotel in Leningrad (St. Petersburg) is still a big mistery. He was found dead in his room on 28 December 1925. He committed a suicide by hanging. His friends and biographers claimed that he had a depression at that time.

✒️His last poem "Goodbye my friend, goodbye" was written a day before his death. Yesenin complained that there was no ink and he was forced to write with his blood🖍️

✒️There IS also a theory that Sergei Yesenin was killed by OGPU (KGB).
