"Training Deck Trouble"
"You should have stopped sooner!"
"You could have said something!"
"Would you have listened?"
Lance was supporting Keith as the pair of Paladins left the training deck. They were headed for the med bay as Keith had gotten injured during their team training session. It wasn't a training session with the whole team; it had just been Lance and Keith working together, which they did well, when they weren't arguing.
Fortunately, Keith's injury wasn't serious, but he still needed his leg looked at. The dobosh Keith was hit, Lance called out for the training sequence to end and proceeded to help the injured Paladin to the med bay.
The tick they walked in they were noticed by Doctor Rachel, who was their doctor (even though she was technically a med student), and she came over. "What happened?"
Lance helped Keith up onto an examination bed. "We were doing a training exercise, and Keith got slightly injured."
"It's not that bad," Keith interjected.
"I'll be the judge of that, Keithie."
Keith didn't say anything, but the slight purplish blush across his cheeks spoke volumes. Lance knew what it meant. Keith and Rachel were dating, and Lance didn't want to hang around, especially since Rachel was his ex. Since Keith was sitting down and Rachel was gathering her supplies, Lance used this time to slip out of the med bay.
By the time Rachel returned, Keith was beginning to shift uncomfortably on the examination bed, because his injured leg was starting to sting due to his adrenaline levels returning to normal. He softly whined at the pain.
Rachel's heart broke slightly when she heard the whine. Ever since Keith (and everyone else) had accepted his Galran heritage, he had been making more Galran sounds. The whines never failed to break her heart. She preferred his purrs.
She caressed his cheek stripes before she tended to his leg. She inspected the injury and was glad it wasn't serious or that deep. She put some antibiotic cream combined with a numbing agent on it before wrapping it with some gauze. "There we go. Now, I don't want you to be on the training deck for at least two additional days after this heals."
"I understand." Keith fidgeted slightly.
"Is there something you need, Keithie?"
Rachel was taken aback by his blunt request, but she knew it was an honest request to rest with her. Since she was his mate, her scent would do wonders in keeping him calm, especially in his nest.
Rachel smiled. "I would be delighted to keep you company."
Keith nuzzled her head and carefully slid off the examination bed. He led Rachel out of the med bay, into his room, and into his nest. The moment he had her in his arms, breathing in her scent, he relaxed enough to start purring softly, which lulled both of them into a light sleep.
