What exactly went through his head coming here? —possibly nothing. At all. A sick feeling of justice, the feeble attempt to make right what Toshinori did wrong. For weeks on end, and while he has had doubts about it from the start, there has never been a moment where he actually planned to confess, and there’s plenty reasons for this, though none he could explain right now in this state of mind, and no word he can think of would repair the damage that has been done. To her of all people, and the public opinion nor others did not matter much in this moment where Toshinori stands there like a child facing the consequences of their actions for the first time in their life.

Telling Kasumi how sorry he was won’t do them good. It’s what you tell when you’ve dropped a plate by accident, not what you should say when you played a game for such a long time, acted a role that ain’t his to play, the stupid tower of lies he’s built and for what? Keepin’ her safe? For what? For what… to watch it fall after such a long climb upwards.

The question of worth never popped in his head before Kasumi uttered it a split second ago but now it’s all Toshinori seems to be able to think about and by God, no, this ain’t the explanation. She’s worth so much more than a shit-ton of lies and deceit, but this was bigger than what they have… or, well, had.

Toshinori did not have any courage to even look at her, least until she’s asking him why he came here in the first place, and Toshinori wished he hadn’t sen the coldness in her eyes, wished none of this ever happened. Wasn’t he better off alone, anyway? Speaking of messed up—

„I am sorry.“ Ah, he really said what he SHOULDN’T have said, huh? He’s really that clown trying to fix shattered glass with a hammer. „I haven’t… it’s not— Ugh—“ Where’s that warm fuzzy feeling he used to have looking at her? That was yesterday. Now there’s… shame. Guilt, too. A nasty cocktail of the worst emotions Toshinori knows he deserves, but he’d love to go back and make things up.

He cannot even SPEAK properly, overwhelmed by HIS mistakes, knowing it’s HIS fault— he could do better next time, right? If there would be a next time.

„I… just. I couldn’t. Tell you. I couldn’t.“ Kasumi even told him how much she admired ALL MIGHT and he said NOTHING. Ah… shit. Fuck. Fucking SHIT.

„I am sorry.“

I am sorry. The words bounce as they land in her ears. She has every right to be cold, but... She softens anyway. Head falling into her hands her brown locks fall forward and obscure her face from his gaze. Oh, how she had gone on and on about ALL MIGHT and he stood before her.

She'd laugh at herself if she thought it wasn't pitiful. She pressed her fingers to her cheeks before she spoke softly. "I don't forgive you... Not yet. But..." She rises then a hand brushing against his own. This touch brief and enough to drive a shock through her system. She was sure he felt it too. "I'm going to try to understand."

She swallowed past the prideful voice in her head that said that he didn't deserve this. She didn't have to be so kind to him. He had lied. He had never let her in. Except, he didn't have to. They were neighbors, friends, but never lovers. Never anything more. Despite her feelings for him, she didn't know if he had any for her.

A few cheek kisses and gentle touches, here and there. Nothing though, no real established relationship other than friendship. She had started trusting him sure, but he clearly hadn't felt the same yet.

Kasumi ran a hand through her hair before she looked up at him. "Do you want to walk home with me? Try to avoid the media?"

tldr: the Internet Archive/WayBack Machine is super important in term of archived content, billions of stuff are on there, and with the current event happening in the world like stated above,without this tool, it will be hard to properly document what took place.
