what could the poor woman do, with five children in her arms, after the death of her husband, and with two families in france attempting to encroach on the crown? was she not forced to play strange parts to deceive the one and other and yet, as she did, to protect her children, who reigned in succession by the wisdom of a woman so able? i wonder that she did not do worse!

HE SEES IT HAPPENING IN SLOW MOTION – or at least, that’s what it feels like. one minute, they’d been talking about blaine & some guy at some store in the mall that had turned him down -- then how kurt had subsequently been devastated. finn’s been trying his BEST to comfort the other male, but he’s never been very GOOD at it to begin with…
but when he see’s kurt move in, HE FREEZES UP. what was he SUPPOSED to do ?? kurt was hurting – finn had never been in this situation before. [ he’d never met a gay guy before kurt came around !! ] he’d finally gotten over his prejudice & now ?? at the moment he’s VERY CONFUSED.
KURTS LIPS ARE WAY SOFTER THAN HE’S EXPECTING. he should have guessed, considering how much care kurt took in his body. but still – it’s disorienting. for a minute he flat out FORGETS kurts even a BOY. what’s he supposed to do ?? kurt was hurting… that’s what was important here.
so he tentatively kisses him back ; at least going through the motions of a kiss to let kurt get it out of his system. kurt knew finn wasn’t gay – but he was obviously beyond reason at the moment. finn didn’t want to make it any W O R S E. so he lets the kiss happen – lets his lips soften so it’s not completely obvious he’s uncomfortable.
&& when the kiss is broken, finn knows he needs comfort. so, he simply pulls him into his arms & holds him quietly, arms strong around him. ❛ it’s okay, ❜ he mumbles. ❛ everything’s going to be okay. ❜
