“I said...” He said loudly over the heavy thrum of the music blaring overhead. There seemed to be a reprieve from all of the partygoers singing their passive aggressions out on stage. In it’s place was something more Klaus’ speed; the thrum of the beat matching in time to his heart as he lowered his face closer to the stranger on the dance floor. “DO YOU KNOW WHERE I CAN GET SOME MDMA?” His words flew out right as the music overhead was cut off. All eyes seemed to turn onto him as he floundered a moment, hands rising up in the air defensively. “For charity.” He said after a moment as strangers got onto the stage once more for some unprecedented karaoke, subsequently pulling some of the attention away from the small hiccup. He glanced back at the man who’s face he’d just yelled into, carrying on in a casual tone. “I work with underprivileged.... doctor’s... conducting a study. You see, it is very important I see to helping them out in any way I can.”

Tabitha was not down from her high of being on stage, and mixed with the feeling of the alcohol flowing through her, it was excitement overload. When a man she had never met before bounded up to her, she was sure he was there to try and catch her as she stumbled off stage. But to her surprise, he was all too eager to want to get on stage with her. Finally! Someone that matched her excitement. And normally she wasn’t one to trust a random man, holding out his hand to her, but in that moment she took it and trusting whatever journey they were about to go on together. As he rattled off songs, Tabithas drunk mind was trying to keep up until he finally settled on one song in particular. Not really her style, but she would give it a go and this was all about fun right? “Pretty high I think…I don’t know, lets find out!” she laughed making her way back to stage with him.

That was all Klaus needed before he was pulling her up to the stage with him. The mic immediately made a discordant sound as his chin bumped against it in his excitement. “Maestro! The Darkness, please. You know the one.” His fingers snapped in the air, and he missed the eyeroll of said person controlling the music. Or maybeeee he just ignored it. Whichever. Too pumped up high to care. His eyes barely took in the blurred faces of the audience, and he truly didn’t care that he couldn’t distinguish a single one as he spoke loudly into the mic. “What’s up, miserable Riverdale!!! Woo!” There wasn’t as nearly as much audience participation as Klaus desired, but he paid no mind as he squeezed the girls hand and turned to her, the music queuing up overhead.  He spun around on stage, arms flying out in a circle before he spun back to her, launching without further ado into the first note. “Can’t explain all the feelings that you’re making me fᵉeᵉel.”

“yes clay, because i found the amount of oxygen being wasted by lame ass overall wearing nerds wasn’t enough so i decided i had to add to the mix and make sure misery was my input.” he said leaning against the bar and rolling his eyes.

"you want to talk about our overalls? that’s fun. do you even own other clothes besides that jacket?” the words came slipping off his tongue like second nature. “don’t blame us for the lack of oxygen flowing into your brain. that’s something all on you.” clay didn’t bother to walk away, instead turning to rest his forearms against the bar, fully side-eying him. “---what’s with you, anyway?” he asked, stiffly. “your misery seems even more obvious than usual.” not like he cared, or whatever.

link was uncomfortable and itchy in this outfit he had allowed his new acquaintance to dress him up in. though the worst part was how restrictive it felt. he was trying his best to reach out to others through this party as much as he hated it. though something about it felt off to him. maybe it was a person here inside the building or it could just be that he didn’t enjoy being shut in among so many people that had his warning bells going off inside his head. whatever the case was he knew he needed air which was why link was outside taking a breath away from the crowd. the reclusive man was already beginning to miss his horse and as he looked up at the sky he sighed in disappointment. the lights from this house seemed to dull the appearance of the stars. “ i hope you’re okay. “ he muttered into the night air to no one in particular. it was probably the the first set of words he had said aloud without being prompted.

toni had stepped out for a moment to get some air. the last time she’d gone to any sort of party, it had gone up in flames. literally speaking. and while there was no smoke or fire or terror, her chest began to seize up all the same. she’d quickly excused who she’d been talking to in order to step out, her back resting against the outside of the house. her eyes had been tipped to the sky as she focused on her breathing, when she heard an unfamiliar voice. she hadn’t realized she wasn’t alone, and maybe he didn’t either. deciding that it would be worse to remain silent, toni gently cleared her throat. “i’m going to take a wild guess and say you don’t mean me.” her eyes had flickered over to him, nodding over in a friendly enough gesture. maybe at this point in her life, overstepping was just her a thing. but she couldn’t help but ask the question that immediately came to mind. “---are you okay?”

In truth, Ben had no idea why he was here. Polly had asked him to go with her and not wanting to leave one a friendly faces alone, he said yes. He didn’t know the Lodges other than their name. Frankly, he didn’t really know anyone in the town outside of the few regulars who came into the library. In a way, it’s what he needed given his current circumstances. But he still craved some sort of connection in this lonely world.  Ben had stationed himself by the snack table, he’d been getting several plates of random finger foods and watched the party unfold before him.
Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed someone approaching him. “Sorry, I’ll move, probably shouldn’t be blocking the table anyway.” He laughed nervously. “Sorry about that. The mini sandwiches are great by the way.”

Toni had been to her fair share of rich-people parties. From Veronica’s occasional in High School to the numerous she’d end up inadvertently co-hosting with Cheryl over the years. Extravagance wasn’t something that shocked her as much as it used to. What did surprise her was the lack of a theme, Cheryl’s words seeming to echo throughout her mind. Never host a party without having a proper theme. The thought brought a brief smile to her lips, knowing full well her ex-girlfriend wouldn’t be caught dead serving tacos at her own party. Toni, on the other hand, would fully take advantage of this. She was hungry, so what? The random selection seemed right up her alley right about now. She was busy plucking small appetizers to place in the center of the napkin held in her palm, when she’d turned to walk down the table only to see a familiar face. “You were here first. Don’t apologize for being hypnotized by enough food to feed a small army. Me too, Benny.” She knocked their shoulders together in good nature before walking around him to the opposite side, eying the sandwiches in question. “Oh yeah? I might need to try one. Or several. But I have to say, I’m a little worried about where all the leftovers are going to go. I really hope all of this doesn’t go to waste.” She picked up a sandwich to add to her array of food items. “You know, you’re a face I didn’t expect to see. Didn’t think these parties were your scene.” Then again, what did she really know? “Are you planning on doing karaoke with the rest of them?”

——        ▸▸  there was a certain pride bambi had as she walked into the lodge. she knew there was a high possibility that she’d be very under dressed for the occasion . . being that she was in overalls that swallowed her tiny frame. it didn’t matter . . because somewhere in the party clay was near some wall in a matching ensemble. the instant they’d gotten the invite, they seemed to have the same reaction in texting one another. in a way . . it felt really nice to have some normalcy between them. it was like . . she had her best friend back.
it took her no time to have two mild drinks in her hands and spotting the other oddball at the party. as she made her way over to the wallflower she handed one out to him, smiling as she admired the look. ❝ you look sexy with your hair pushed back like that jensen . . anyone ever tell you that ? ❞ // @livevvire

clay didn’t mind parties. he didn’t. but this was far out of the realm of what he was used to. high school and college parties were nothing compared to the fanciful array of oddball foods; not one seemed to match the other. the only reason he’d come tonight was because tony had invited him to this stupid thing to begin with. but then he seemed to disappear, singing some... weird song with tabitha that felt pointed somehow. the distance was apparent since tony hadn’t seemed to be around at all.

so the appearance of a familiar face immediately filled him with relief, and for the first time that night, a smile crossed his face. dressed just like him; a spur of the moment rebellious plan. out of everyone dressed to the nines tonight, she was the best dressed. bambi always had been. “--okay, regina george, whatever you say.” he rolled his eyes as a flush crept up his neck and over his face. he shook his head and sighed, light heartedly, to mask it. “again, these very niche compliments are a you thing.” his grin widened just a bit as his eyes drifted over her. “you look good.” he blurted, before adding on quickly, stepping away from the wall to move next to her automatically. “how do you make overalls look like a fashion statement?”

"a nightmare??? more like the vision of your dreams.” his falsely affronted tone was accompanied by his hands finding purchase on his hips. klaus was quickly distracted by the clear compliment, and he glanced down at his torso, the purple long-sleeve creeping up his abdomen and shamelessly exposing skin. but the silk robe that hung around his shoulders is what he thought really tied the look together. “yeah, do you like it? i call it, pièce du allison.” his right hand rose so his fingers pinched together, before bringing them up to his lips in a chefs kiss. klaus let his arms fall back down, and for once he was silent as his sister pulled him in for a hug. for only a brief moment, his eyes closed, and a hint of a sigh fell through his lips as pulled into a thin line. the worry was clear. he could practically feel it radiating off of her. his arms wrapped around her before she pulled away, his expression schooled into his usual. unaffected. “i did call you, i’ll have you know. rightttt after i befriended the cutest talking dog and....oh. maybe i didn’t, after all. sorry about that, sis.” he turned his attention to the party around them. rich people. always weird as fuck. he should know, really, but this really should be a better party than it was turning out to be. klaus was sure this whole thing was starting to be a bust. “and who? benny boy?  yeah, turns out he did decide to climb out of the rock he lives under. saw him come in with some crazy looking blonde girl earlier. no, you’re not hallucinating, i think he might actually get laid if he plays his cards right.” he knew full well that wasn’t what she was asking. “what’s so wrong with hippies? they grow the best...” he trailed off, placing a single hand on her shoulder and bowing his head slightly to raise his eyebrows. “...corn on the cob you’ll ever have. dear god, the.... commune i was living in had the bests feasts, you would die.” sometimes even literally, but he kept that part hush hush. “anyway, are you bored? you look bored. let’s do something.”

The moment Tabitha had walked in to the party, she was all ready to let go of the stress of her normal life and just have fun for once. It was rare for her to really let herself go, always the one with her life pulled together tight. It was time for her to let it go, just this once. What could one party really hurt? It’s why she found herself quickly a little too tipsy and giggly, and finishing up her song at the karaoke stand. Another thing she hardly ever did, but she kind of liked it and wanted to go again. Stumbling down from the small stage where the microphone sat, she smiled at the person she was now standing in front of. “Hey do you want to do a duet with me?! Come on, its so fun!”
imageimage
Adrenaline pumped through wirey veins at the speed of light as his hands aggressively clapped together. One would think the music would be the loudest thing at this party. A howl ripped from Klaus’ lips as he knocked his head back, eyes shut tight as he let it ring out with his whole chest. Soon after, he was bounding up to the girl, Allison’s see-through robe sashaying out behind him. The fur of the collar tickled his neck as he held a hand out toward her, fingers outstretched and wiggling just as his eyebrows did. “I’m a tenor, but any song is in my range. Do you know Toxic? What am I saying, of course you do... but no... that’s so three years ago. No. We need to wow.” He hummed in thought. “I Will Survive.... ugh, no. Everyone’s going to be doing that.” Klaus prattled off before his eyes grew wide, and his hand closed the distance to grab hers, setting to guide them back up on this stage - right here, right now. “I have it.” He announced proudly. “I Believe In A thing Called Love. How falsetto can you go?” The higher the better, he always said.

she had been mindlessly scrolling through her phone, almost not knowing what to do with herself on a rare night off. it briefly crossed Midge’s mind to go to the bar nonetheless, but thinking better of it she had texted Clay. not that they weren’t already practically in constant communication, but it had been a few days since she’d seen him. so when the knock at her front door announced his arrival she bounded over, a wide grin on her face as she swung it wide open. “Clay Jensen! just the man I wanted to see.”
imageimage
the evening was warm, but clay’s hands found home in his jacket’s pockets nonetheless after he’d knocked at her door, demeanor as relaxed as it could be at seeing her face. a small grin began to pull onto his own face. “so let’s get one thing straight. out of everyone that could show up at your your door, you wanted it to be me? man, are your priorities mixed up.” his words were drawled, but no less of a joke as he straightened up, lifting his arms up to welcome her in for a hug. “so what’s new? anything i miss in the past few days?”

Text → Eli & Clay

Eli: You'll find out soon enough.
Eli: Canada has a VERY extensive royal family.
Eli: Pretty sure they have apps for that now, Clay. And okay, I get it. You're old school. I'll pay.
Eli: But if you want to do something before then... you can meet me at the burned down building tonight at 6. After what we talked about at Monet's, I think it deserves a second look.
Clay: You're unbelievable. Steak and breaking into a crime scene together. And you say I move fast.
Clay: Do you think the cops are done doing their investigation, though? I'll come. But I'm just saying... we may need to be careful.

sweet pea needed to find a place to hide away for the day. was it normal that one day a year someone literally tried to go completely unnoticed? maybe. but for someone who doesn’t like the attention on them and the awkward conversations associated with the particular day… he made it clear he was going to be unseen no matter what (lucky for the back office of the wyrm). but there was one thing he did have to do and that was eat. so thinking he could safely get breakfast at pop’s and slide into the wrym after without being seen was a task he took.
but something seemed odd the second he walked in and the waitress had a smile too big on her face. giving a strange look he slide into a booth and what seemed like under a minute the waitress slipped in the back only to return with a huge plate of pancakes all decked out. she slide them before pea and he looked down in horror. “no, this isn’t my…” they had decorated in chocolate sauce and a berry smile; HAPPY 27TH SWEET PEA!
“oh fucking christ. not this.”

toni had snuck back up to pop’s for a quick cup off coffee - only riverdale’s best, when she saw him come in. toni had repressed a smile behind her mug, letting there be time to settle in before she made her way over to him. as much as she knew him to want to keep his birthday private, it was inevitable that people discovered it sooner or later. and while she was pro ‘celebrate sweet pea’s birthday’, she wasn’t responsible for this. she may have known that they were going to do something, though. more people loved sweet pea than he thought.

once he was delivered his pancakes, toni rose from her spot at the counter in order to approach his booth, sliding in across from him. her mug was set down on the table with a quiet clang. “there’s the birthday boy i wanted to see.” the smile tugged at the corner of her lips with ease. “they’re not going to sing or anything. i made them promise months ago, if you were worried.” her hand reached out to gently turn his plate. “cute. you can’t tell me you’re going to turn away free birthday pancakes, are you? look at the little smile.”

With having the Whyte Wyrm under Pop’s, it wasn’t that unusual for their stock to get mixed up for the day. It kind of became a daily occurrence at this point. Tabitha found a couple bottles of mixer for the bar in her shipment, and carefull picked up the box. Carrying it down the steps to the Wyrm, she slid it across the bar for Toni to take. “I don’t think this would make very good milkshakes, Toni. Pretty sure these are yours and they got mixed up today. Did you happen to get any of my things while i’m down here?”
imageimage
Toni looked up from the bar, going over the previous nights numbers before they opened for the day, and smiled upon seeing her face. “Well. Depending on who decided to come through, I beg to differ. Add yourself a shot of vodka, and you’ve got yourself a new specialty.” She teased, and set the clip board down before pulling the box towards her, peaking inside. “You’re a lifesaver, though, these are needed for our specials this week. I was starting to get a little nervous there.” She spoke, before stepping back and walking to the end of her bar, where she tugged out a box from under the counter. It took a second to balance herself in order to lift it up, hoisting it up to the top. “I’m going to take a wild guess and say all this ketchup belongs to you. How long have we been doing this and our merchandise still gets mixed up? I’m starting to think we should just be in one location. You think burgers and booze are an untapped market that Riverdale is in desperate need of?” She spoke lightly, not truly bothered. It was honestly funny at this point; a recurring joke.
