Just Another Piece of Hamiltrash

@one-of-many-fandoms-blog / one-of-many-fandoms-blog.tumblr.com

Bonjour y'all's. Umm... I can't art or do the writing thing, so I'm just here to watch the talented people do that. I'm always up to talk to my fellow fanpeoples, though! (Like, seriously though, talk to me, I'm so lonely and have no life)

Okay but what if all of the potions edits in Snape’s old textbook were just things he overheard James say in potions class because “no Padfoot you crush the bean! Cutting it doesn’t do anything! Trust me my dad told me”

But I love this because then when Harry always talks about how the prince is a much better teacher than Snape he would actually be learning from his father and grandfather…

I’m not crying My eyes are just glistening with the ghost of my past

Based on what I’ve read on Pottermore, that’s basically 100% accurate cause James’ dad created a ton of potions (like Skele-Gro and the hair potion Hermione uses for the Yule Ball) and got super rich and that’s why James never had a job and left Harry tons of money. James would have handy potions making knowledge of that sort.

That’s exactly what I meant

A lot of people took this to mean that James was the one who was really good at potions and it was his favorite subject but all I meant was that he was probably very knowledgable about potions and couldn’t help giving his friends advice that Snape probably overheard

Like my dad is a doctor and although science may not be my thing I’m still probably more knowledgable than the average person especially with all of the lowkey medical work I’ve done over the years

OMG OMG OMG!

Ok, ok ok,

You know that joke that went around about “Why didn’t Harry recognize The Prince’s handwriting when he’d been staring at it on the board for 6 years?”

What if that was because it was James’s handwriting? He wrote the notes and Snape stole the book from James as a “Haha, fuck you, lets see how well you do without your cheat sheets” Then writing ”This book belongs to the half blood Prince.” to gloat that he took something from James Potter.

James is the only one we see use Levicorpus besides Harry.

I know that means James created sectumsempra, but still, it was a time of war and death eaters, maybe he created it as a last resort thing.

New head cannon

It actually makes more sense that James would have notated Sectumsempra “for enemies” because what would Snape care? If he wrote it, he would know what it does. Maybe James even overheard it or saw it used and wanted to warn himself in case he ever remembered the word but not the context and what would happen.

THIS THIS THIS OMG THIS @icanhelpyouthere @mangoapplepie @lycanthropuns THIS (also cry with me because harry wouldn’t know what james’ handwriting looked like)

That’s ok I’ll just cry myself to sleep tonight.

And it makes sense for Snape to want to get much better at Potions. Lily was repeatedly said to be the star of the class by Slughorn, and Snape must have wanted to impress her just to have something in common to talk to her because let’s be real, they deviated from each other when he started hanging with the dark magic practitioners. And who better to cheat off from than James Potter, the guy who’s like his archnemesis?

HOLY FLYING SHIT it just makes so much SENSE though, i feel like that’s a hidden obviousness J K Rowling has been waiting years for us to get

Official BATIM Fan Content Policy

Now that themeatly and co. have released their guidelines for what is permitted for fans to create/write/draw/cosplay/rp/sell/etc. I think it’s important the fandom as a whole reviews the guidelines. Remember, we wouldn’t even have this fandom if it wasn’t for themeatly. His team have been super generous to us since the beginning. The least we can do is RESPECT THE ORIGINAL CREATOR and his wishes :)

Totally agree

Theory: IRL Bendy Is Blind

So you ever notice how Bendy just like… looks around when he first appears? He’s not really attacking you, despite being right in front of him, he’s just sort of… turning.

Maybe this was just done so you couldn’t actually die in Chapter 1, but here’s another possibility: What if IRL Bendy is actually blind?

As I pointed out in this post, you should theoretically be able to see his right eye if it matched his 2D version - and yet that area is completely blank. Combine that with the tons of ink dripping down his face, further blocking whatever sight he could potentially have, and it’s entirely possible he just flat-out can’t see. Maybe he doesn’t need to or maybe he just relies on supernatural senses, but that would explain why he’s turning: He knows you’re somewhere around him, but he can’t pinpoint where.

Heck, maybe this’ll be how you get past him in Chapter 2. While you could always drive your axe into him and run for it, that would require you to get dangerously close. However, if this theory is true, another possibility would just be to press up against the wall and move as quietly as possible, then make a break for it once you’re past him - thus driving up the tension, as you have no idea if he’s gong to hear you and suddenly attack or not.

It’s worth noting that while Bendy now swipes at you from the boards, there’s now a new instance of him turning his head like he has no idea where he is:

His new model also confirms his complete lack of eyes - there are now gaps in the ink, and you can see there’s nothing underneath.

I’ve also proposed elsewhere that Bendy might be able to see through the cardboard cutouts. Which could explain why they always appear opposite of Henry in the orchestra room, and why there’s one in the recording booth where Sammy got attacked by Bendy.

There are two more (potential) pieces of evidence pointing to the “Bendy can see out of the cutouts“ angle from the Hot Topic Q&A:

While this might just be a nonsense answer, it might also be implying that Sammy can only see through the eyes of the Bendy mask, much like Bendy himself, hence him wondering how one would see without a mask on.

And secondly, Sammy says that both he and Bendy can see someone. If Bendy can see through the eyes of the cutouts, then that would include Sammy’s mask by extension - and thus anything Sammy sees Bendy sees too.

As to Bendy being able to see out of the cutouts: Isn’t it a little suspicious how he lunges right at you in the trailer - where there’s a cutout positioned directly towards the box you’re in?

Fan fiction reviews

Imagine you have a coworker who likes to bake. Every week, they bring in a batch of delicious, homemade cookies and leave them in the break room. Next to the plate of cookies is a sign, “If you like my cookies, could you please just leave me a note and tell me what you like about them? The more feedback you leave about what you like, the more incentive I have to bake.” A hundred coworkers walk by and take a cookie. One person leaves a note. “Great cookies! Bake some more soon!”

The next week, once again there are cookies in the break room with the same sign. Once again a hundred people take a cookie and only one person leaves a note. “Nice! More soon!”

Week Three- Once again, a hundred people take a cookie. No one leaves a note.

Week Four- One hundred people take a cookie. No note.

Week Five- There are no cookies. Someone leaves a note. “Where are the cookies? I loved them. Please, please bake some cookies.”

Week Six- There are no cookies. Ten people leave notes. “I miss your cookies. They were my favorites. I loved the chocolate chips. My friend really liked the way you had almonds in the cranberry ones.”

Week Seven- Motivated by the wonderful notes, the baking coworker stays up late to bake the best batch of cookies they have ever made. That week, a hundred people take a cookie. No one leaves a note.

The co-worker gives up baking for their colleagues.

Please, if you like the fan fiction that you are reading, let your authors know. Stories are abandoned for a myriad of reasons, but it is very, very hard to stay motivated when you receive no positive feedback. If there is a story that you like, whether it is a completed one or a work in progress, please leave an up-lifting comment or review. By doing so, you’re providing that writer with motivation to spend their time and energy creating more stories for you.

And that way, you both win!

We got more feedback the year we took our website offline than at any other point in our 15 years of writing fanfic before that. So we put the archive back up. And all the feedback vanished again. Disheartening, but at that point, unsurprising.

Support your writers, your artists, your content creators: the people who spend time making things and sharing them for free so fandom can be nicer and a richer place for everybody.

This is really important. Feedback is how most of us gauge how successful we were at making something, and it gives us motivation to persevere and continue creating. Having that feedback especially gets us through the rough and low days, and reminds us, “at least someone is looking forward to seeing this when it’s done”

How to Plot a Complex Novel in One Day

Now first, I have to say, that the plot you’re able to come up with in one day is not going to be without its flaws, but coming up with it all at once, the entire story unfolds right in front of you and makes you want to keep going with it. So, where to begin?

  • What is your premise and basic plot? Pick your plot. I recommend just pulling one from this list. No plots are “original” so making yours interesting and complicated will easily distract from that fact, that and interesting characters. Characters will be something for you to work on another day, because this is plotting day. You’ll want the main plot to be fairly straight forward, because a confusing main plot will doom you if you want subplots.
  • Decide who the characters will be. They don’t have to have names at this point. You don’t even need to know who they are other than why they have to be in the story. The more characters there are the more complicated the plot will be. If you intend to have more than one subplot, then you’ll want more characters. Multiple interconnected subplots will give the illusion that the story is very complicated and will give the reader a lot of different things to look at at all times. It also gives you the chance to develop many side characters. The plot I worked out yesterday had 13 characters, all were necessary. Decide their “roles” don’t bother with much else. This seems shallow, but this is plot. Plot is shallow.
  • Now, decide what drives each character. Why specifically are they in this story? You can make this up. You don’t even know these characters yet. Just so long as everyone has their own motivations, you’re in the clear.
  • What aren’t these characters giving away right off the bat? Give them a secret! It doesn’t have to be something that they are actively lying about or trying to hide, just find something that perhaps ties them into the plot or subplot. This is a moment to dig into subplot. This does not need to be at all connected to their drive to be present in the story.  Decide who is in love with who, what did this person do in the 70’s that’s coming back to bite them today, and what continues to haunt what-his-face to this very day. This is where you start to see the characters take shape. Don’t worry much about who they are or what they look like, just focus on what they’re doing to the story.
  • What is going to change these characters? Now this will take some thinking. Everyone wants at least a few of the characters to come out changed by the end of the story, so think, how will they be different as a result of the plot/subplot? It might not be plot that changes them, but if you have a lot of characters, a few changes that are worked into the bones of the plot might help you.
  • Now list out the major events of the novel with subplot in chronological order. This will be your timeline. Especially list the historical things that you want to exist in backstory. List everything you can think of. Think about where the story is going. At this point, you likely haven’t focused too much on the main plot, yeah, it’s there, but now really focus on the rising actions, how this main plot builds its conflict, then the climactic moment. Make sure you get all of that in there. This might take a few hours.
  • Decide where to start writing. This part will take a LOT of thinking. It’s hard! But now that you’ve got the timeline, pick an interesting point to begin at. Something with action. Something relevant. Preferably not at the beginning of your timeline - you want to have huge reveals later on where these important things that happened prior are exposed. This is the point where you think about what information should come out when. This will be a revision of your last list, except instead of being chronological, it exists to build tension.
  • Once you’ve gotten the second list done, you’ve got a plot. Does it need work? Probably. But with that said, at this point you probably have no idea who half your characters are. Save that for tomorrow, that too will be a lot of work.

This is potentially life saving information everyone should know.

No you guys this post helped me find my cat. He was missing for almost a month and I’ve had him for over 12 years. After seeing this I put his favorite blanket he always slept on outside hoping he would smell mine or his scent and he was back the next fucking day asleep on it.

When my cat got out, we called and called for him, and then, later that night, I remembered similar advice to this, and so put his little scratching pad, which he adores, on the front porch. Not even half an hour later, I heard a thump, opened the door, and there was his big butt, meowing at me.

Important and vital

I don’t care that I reblogged this today I’m reblogging it again
