after josh’s shift, he decided to head to the bar to have a few drinks, of course not too much, he had to get back to the hotel safely. as he walked inside, he greeted those that he knew as he moved to sit down. he held his hand up to ge the bartender’s attention. looking over to the side of him, he smiled greeting the other, “hey, ah not much, i just finished work, how about you?”

Smiling at the girl beside her, Frankie turned on her chair and took her drink, sipping it shortly. It was a bit strong, but it’d do just fine “You’re new around here? Where did you come from? I’m Francesca, but everyone calls me Frankie” She said, putting her hand out for her “Let me buy you a drink”

She nodded at her question then smiled as she introduced herself “I have a cat named Frankie... her name is Frankenstein but we just call her Frankie” she laughed “sorry is that weird” she laughed. “I’m Zelda.” She took her hand and gave it a soft shake. “Oh thanks” she said with a smile. “Just a mojito” she smiled 

The dark haired woman gives a nod, folding her planner shut once again before nodding. “I gotcha, that used to happen to me in college a lot. Poke bowls are like deconstructed sushi? Like sushi and Chipotle? It’s hard to explain, but it’s delicious.” Safiya gives a bit of a laugh before standing up. “I can show you where it’s at if you want?”

Zelda’s eyes lit up as she spoke, nodding and taking her up on her offer. “Please” she smiled “Me and navigation are not the best of friends” she exhaled a laugh. “Do you maybe wanna have lunch?” she offered, “I mean if you’re not busy. I just think it’d be better than eating alone” she shrugged. 

“A local coffee shop, right down the street, actually. I love it, I really do, but damn— you can only take so much stupidity in one day.” She shook her head, thinking about a couple of customers in particular that nearly made her head explode. It was a relief to be able to say what she wanted to say, rather than what was ‘company policy’. She signaled the bartender for another round, ensuring that she made eye contact so she knew that they saw her. “So, enough about me — what about you? What brings you here? As in, what’re you drinking about tonight?” 

          elias always tried to take change in stride. living in los angeles just didn’t seem realistic for him anymore, and he’d always wanted to get to know his birthplace. he counted himself extremely lucky that the malnati had an available suite after the reviews he’d read, and the staff were very accommodating in helping him move in. it had been a few days since he’d really gotten settled in and as he sat in his armchair he felt his stomach grumble. figuring now was as good a time as any to be social, he reached for his cane and made his way down to the lobby. unable to find any kind of map and too lazy to take out his phone, he directed his attention to someone he’d spotted sitting down. “pardon me,” he began, clearing his throat. “i’m wondering, do you have any recommendations regarding a place to eat around here? i’ve only just moved here and i’m not terribly acquainted with the area.”

There was nothing more embarrassing than being stood up, and Shay was pretty sure that was what was happening to her. It had been forty minutes since the time she was supposed to meet this guy at the bar and there she was, two martinis in, and no date. Checking her phone for the hundredth time she could only see the blue circles that were here messages, meaning still no reply. “Fuck this.” She mumbled under her breath and started gathering her stuff to leave before realizing someone was not only next to her but trying to chat. Looking over with a clearly annoyed look on her face she slightly moved her head as to say what? and asked, “It’s going bad, do I know you?”

The girl’s eyes shifted away seeing the girls annoyance then confirming it with her reply. She shook her head softly “No, I doubt it anyways” she said clearing her throat. “Sorry. I just got here- so I figured I’d try to mingle a bit” she explained. “Sorry you’re having a shit time.” she tried offering the woman some sort of comfort but she could feel her fight or flight reflexes telling her to bolt, to avoid the situation all together, she knew she didn’t handle confrontation well. 

Safiya moves the hand that had flown to her chest and gives a smile. “No, no! That’s not your fault! I was too in my head, so no worries there.” She laughs and turns her body to face the young woman in front of her. “mmm food, well the Malnati has plenty of options but I’ve found that the poke bowl down the street is great lunch food if that’s what you’re looking for.” She gives a kind smile before tilting her head. “I guess it really depends on your mood.”

Zelda smiled softly “Completely understand, I get so into what I’m doing that I completely forget the world” she nodded, her brows raising curiously as she spoke and nodded “I’m not really sure what I want, I just know that I’m getting a headache from lack of food” she laughed. “Poke Bowl...” she echoed, nodding a bit. “What kind of stuff do they have there?” She asked “Like general theme?”

“That’s an understatement. And the kicker? It’s not even over yet.” She paused so that she could order a shot of tequila from the bartender—don’t forget the lime and salt, please—turning back to the other as she continued. “I just got off work, and then in a couple of hours, I gotta go do my second job. At least I won’t have to use my customer service voice.” She laughed, grabbing the shot glass that the bartender slid in front of her. “The timing? Immaculate.” She tipped it back and gulped it down, the first was always the hardest. The only one that really burned. Oh wait— “Where the fuck was my lime? Ugh,” Peering over the bar, her eyes scoured every inch — there. She could hardly reach, but that didn’t stop her from grabbing a slice of lime herself, all while the bartender was busy with someone else. “Zelda, like the princess. I like that. I’m Nadia.” Grinning, she bit into the lime, her face relaxing, free from the bitterness of the tequila. 

She gave the girl a soft frown, listening to her as she spoke. “I can’t imagine” she laughed a little, “Where do you work?” she asked, Zelda had been her own boss for so long she almost forgot what it was like to work a ‘normal’ job. She smiled and thanked the bar tender as her drink was set down, taking a sip. She chuckled as the woman leaned over the counter to grab herself a lime, “Yup... exactly like that” she said “It’s nice to meet you Nadia” she said taking another sip of her drink. 

Seth smiles as he looks at the female and said”That’s true.” The male laughs as he said”Yeah,Crutches suck balls especially when you gotta go on stage and play a show with them.”

Jacob nodded as she spoke, his eyes still glued to the bar. “The city is pretty nice. Did you uh-get food or anything?” He asked, another sip of his drink going down the hatch. “I get the whole suffocating thing…I live and work at a hotel.” He said, a small smile on his face, finally turning to look at her. 

She shook her head “No, I haven’t had anything to eat yet” she replied then nodded in agreement, “It’s really pretty” she said then smiled wide “No shit, You work there?” she grinned, “What do you do there?” she asked, trying to figure out if she’d seen him while she’d been exploring the hotel but she didn’t think that she had. 

Jacob sat at the bar, drinking a glass of whatever beer they had on special. He looked over to his left and saw a girl who looked familiar…where had he seen her before? He caught glances of her out of the corner of his eye between sips, trying not to be too obvious. Then it hit him. The website. This couldn’t be happening. His cheeks flushed red and his stared down at the bar as hard as possible, his eyes practically burning holes in the wood. He heard her speak and his ears perked up, his mind fumbling around to make words happen. “Hey.” He said, not noticing he was holding his breath. “Good. Good. I’m good. Things are good!” He stammered, taking a sip of his beer. Alcohol please start working-he thought to himself as he took another large swig. “How are you?” He asked, his voice cracking just a bit.

Zelda’s lips quirked gently as the male stumbled over his words, unsure if it was due to alcohol or if she’d somehow managed to fluster him. She eyed him for a moment and nodded, “I’m.. good’ she said in the same tone he had, a slight form of teasing. She took a sip of her drink and turned her attention back towards him. “I was wandering around the city and ended up here and now I’m bored.” she laughed, combing her fingers through her hair. “and I really don’t feel like going back to my hotel right now, it felt a bit suffocating” she shrugged, ramblng a bit to the man beside her, unsure he even cared.
