A 9 ft-tall statue of the Kópakonan (Seal Woman or Selkie) on Kalsoy, in the Faroe Islands
A friend sent this to me today and I feel attacked😅
...Remembering Dave Gemmell telling us that the surest way for him to know that he was having a writer's block was when he found himself scrubbing behind the toilet.
the fact that kobolds seem to be this more "animalistic" race, with kuro talking in broken language and like improper grammar. this, coupled with the fact that he seems unaware of the fact that he's being exploited by mick, makes kobolds appear to be less intelligent than other races.
but we actually find out that the simple speech patterns are in fact due to common being kuro's second language. and in a scene where kabru talks to kuro in his native language, it's actually kabru with the simple speech patterns.
we even learn that kuro seems to actually have a much better understanding of his situation with mick than we first imagine. merely wanting to stay with them so they can have someone who they can feel relaxed around.
this, coupled with a bunch of other things, really makes dungeon meshi stand out from other fantasy media. there are no "dumb" or "evil" races, they're all just people.
There's just something about heroes doomed to become the villains in a future story that sends my heart a-flutter... If you're a fan of dark fantasy and Bad Endings, Infaust is one book you won't want to miss. Only four days left before Rehan's story gets told. Be honest... are you excited?

A witch with a dead familiar is an outlier and an ill-omen to every village they pass through. Rehan Nadir is one such witch. The only jobs available to him are terrible ones, and vagrancy is his only recourse… At least, it was until he heard tell of the town of Hamelin’s plight. Stories of a malicious entity, a chaos god, have tormented the village for hundreds of years, and like clockwork tragedy has struck once more: while the adults gathered elsewhere, the children were spirited away. No trace of them has been seen since. The town is desperate to bring them back. Very desperate. Finding and returning the lost children would be just the thing to give Rehan a new chance at the life he lost after the death of his familiar, and if all it takes is killing a god of chaos, then he’s more than ready to take the plunge and open that door. Unfortunately, he just didn’t anticipate opening a few more in the midst of dealing the finishing blow.
Infaust is a dark romance recounting the tale of the witch Rehan Nadir and the elusive chaos god known only as the Piper. Trapped in a world where even the very dirt wants them dead, the two must depend on one another to escape—and along the way realize that perhaps the definition of a happily ever after really is a subjective one.
Contains psychological horror, violence, dubious consent, protag corruption, villain "love interest", blood, descriptions of being burnt alive, and other gruesome acts. Viewer discretion is advised.

My friend came over this weekend and we bleach dyed some shirts for the eclipse! The cotton shirts definitely took the bleach better than the cotton-poly blend sweater and tank, but I really love how they all came out
I still think the little girl who is the world's most skilled at summoning earthworms has to be, like.. that's the most interesting person alive. I wake up at night and remember that this fucking 6-or-whatever-year-old can just. Do that. That's terrifying. I hate knowing this. But again, at the same time, I wonder about it constantly. The whole thing is supposedly a skill passed down through families. People have been honing this ability for fucking CENTURIES. But this little tiny child absolutely blows everyone else out of the water just by summoning HUNDREDS OF EARTHWORMS
Oh context would probably help here huh
Sophie Smith isnt fucking human and I fear her
I looked up footage of this event and i was NOT disappointed

I just....I just learned that there's a word in the English language...for when you run into someone to hug them with all the enthusiasm and strength you have....I learned that it's called glomp.
My God, English has so many words to describe physical intimacy, I'm in love

Ok it's very funny to laugh at Tuxedo Mask for showing up and doing nothing, but his job was never to actually fight the monsters.
His job was just to show up and believe in Sailor Moon so overwhelmingly resolutely that she remembers she's a fucking demigod long enough for HER to fight the monsters.
Because she's the only one strong enough to do it in the first place, and in this regard Tuxedo Mask is the first example of being "Kenough" in this essay I will
@kawaiipinkbunny is so right for this
A major problem of being a writer is falling in love with your side characters. You want to explore them, want to share every detail you created for them, show them off to your readers. The pain of not letting them outshine the main character is real.
