This is from ‘Beasts of Burden’, a really cool comic about a bunch of dogs (and one cat) protecting their town from the supernatural things that threaten it. It’s spooky and sad and really just fantastic. At one point they teamed up with Hellboy. Everyone should read it (if you don’t mind some pretty dark things happening. it is not a cheerful comic but it is a good one).

Hey! So, I loved this comic, and still think about it occasionally, and tonight it was linked to me again with just the right timing so that I hyperfocused and squirreled off to go read everything! They aren’t really numbered well, but the Wikipedia page has a list of them in release order and what anthologies to find them in!

But given that it’s a pain to seek out each one one by one, I’ve got a list of links in order a smidge further down! Please try to support Dark Horse Comics if you can, but if you’re broke like me and still want to read, the Internet is a beautiful place. According to the wiki page, there are at least two more installments to come, scheduled for May 1st and June 5th, but there’s no real update schedule for the series as a whole.

Do note: they are graphic, gory, and sad, with a lot of body horror. But they’re really fantastic.

“Neighborhood Watch” is due out in October and contains more stories than listed above (including the Hellboy crossover).

This is one of my favorite series ever and I’m so glad it’s finally getting proper collections instead of one-off anthology appearances.

Warning, though, the story about Hazel and her pups will *destroy* you.

the mantis is making him good at baseball ratatouille style

i’m sorry i phoned it in but this is how i do literally every single shiny metallic surface. another tip is to add surface detail to something just so that you can pin highlights to it, that way you’re not faced with a big blank space to fill up

and to be honest, you can bullshit 99% of these armour embossing designs. i mean look at them. i didn’t even make them symmetrical. their only purpose is to help define the form

my last step is usually to go ham panting over the lines. most of what u see in a finished image is me having painted over the lines (u can see that clearly on the pendant). u can see in this one that i disregarded my lines in a lot of places and just kinda freestyled it.but u can also see that i place the highlights right up against the dark bits. this armour was very shiny so those dark bits are reflections rather than shadows (i guess?)

You know something i've always thought about is what exactly the relationship was between Wrathia, Nevy, and Pedri and so given the only lore we have as of yet is Nevy's memories i'm gonna take a swing at it

So Wrathia seems to be always wearing the color of her current lover as we've seen her wearing Pedri's colors multiple times when she does her makeup and outfits

And when we see Wrathia in Nevy's memories what colors is she wearing

Nevy's, she's even wearing a blue dress Nevy's color. But we also see that Wrathia was spying on her lover flirting with this other man so what exactly is Pedri's role in this

What we do know is that Nevy was a high preistess so it wouldn't be too far off to say that Pedri was also a member of the church and began flirting with Nevy for whatever his true motives were he definately swooned her and they began some type of relationship whether Wrathia knew of this but decided not to say anything, broke off her relationship with Nevy, or was fine with her lovers having other lovers is unknown.

But either way it came down to this one point

The assasination of Wrathia's husband and the most likely attempted assasination of Wrathia herself. You can assume that maybe they were just there to kill her husband but i highly doubt that i believe Nevy was under the full impression that she was there to kill Wrathia though it seems Pedri had other motives as next memory up is this one

Pedri is now her husband and she is wearing his colors and Wrathia looks very proud of herself and given the point of view we can probably assume that this is Wrathia showing off her winnings to a defeated and betrayed Nevy.

In conclusion i believe that while Wrathia was married to her first husband, it was purely a power grab to put her in the empress position while her and Nevy were actually lovers with Nevy being her High Preistess/Concubine and Pedri probably used Nevy to get closer to Wrathia so he could kill her then husband and take his place but at the same time while Nevy most definately loved Pedri she used him as a way to get rid of Wrathia until she in turn was betrayed by Pedri as he became Wrathia's lover instead.

Making Nevy, tonights biggest loser.

All around none of these are good people.
