MysMeHalloWeek - Day 5
[Prompts: Horror Stories/Haunted
707 and Yoosung were spending Halloween together in Yoosung’s house. They had already answered the door to trick or treaters, and were left with a tonne of candy, since they’d gone a bit overboard when buying it. That, of course, had been deliberate.
They tried to watch some horror on Netflix, but it was all so bad. They had to switch the Death Note movie off before they gouged their own eyes out just to make it stop.
“I wish I had a Death Note so I could write my own name right now,” Yoosung whined.
“Same,” Seven agreed. “Let’s tell ghost stories instead, I’m sure we’ll be more entertaining.”
They grabbed some more candy and went to Yoosung’s room, where they lay on the floor covered in blankets.
“I know a shinigami story,” Seven started. Of course, he was making it up. “So, there was once this party planner who killed herself because she was an evil ho. She came back as a shinigami and started an evil cult. She turned all the members into shinigami, aka gods of death, and then…um. They killed everyone and that was the end of the world. ”
“Seven, seriously, ” Yoosung groaned. “Even I could come up with something better than that. So, there was once this other evil ho, a guy who lied to everyone about his fiance being dead. But his lie came back at him when she came back to life, or death, as a shinigami, and haunted him forever.”
“Oh yeah, that’s so much better,” Seven laughed. “Perhaps we’re not meant to be spooky.”
They decided to finish off the candy and go asleep. Yoosung was woken a few hours later by someone calling his name. He opened his eyes and saw his cousin Rika standing in front of him. But Rika was dead… And this Rika had black wings. She nodded at him, then disappeared. He tried to wake Seven but couldn’t. He fell back asleep while trying to convince himself that he’d imagined it.
Seven woke up just as Yoosung fell back asleep. He swore he saw V in the room, but as he was wondering how he got in there, he faded and disappeared.
Neither spoke of what they’d seen that night.
Meanwhile, Rika was looking down on Yoosung from the shinigami realm. She hadn’t missed the human world until now. V appeared and held her hand. He was the only person she’d killed so far, and that was only so he could join her.
“Perhaps I should have left you in the human world,” She murmured.
“No, I want to be wherever you are, Rika.”
Rika continued to watch Yoosung from the shinigami realm. She wished she could still be there to guide him. Despite everything, she was still fond of him. She still cared about him and it hurt to see him grieving her death again. The first time he’d gone through it, not knowing she was still alive. But now she was truly dead, and V along with her.
There was nothing much to do in this realm, it was called Nothingness after all. Most of the shinigami passed the time playing cards and gambling. It didn’t take many deaths to add to their own lifespans, so they didn’t kill humans often. She didn’t plan to kill again until necessary, or maybe not even then. She’d really committed suicide in the end, and now she was stuck here.
She briefly considered bringing Yoosung up here, but she’d already been selfish enough. He deserved to live on and besides, he was the person who could actually do the good that she’d planned to do, before it all went horribly wrong.
V noticed her sadness and hugged her. He didn’t care that he’d died, as long as he was with Rika, he was happy. He often looked down on the other RFA members and tried to help them. Though it seemed they were doing better without him. When Rika went to sleep later that night, he decided to visit Jumin again.
Jumin hadn’t told anyone about V’s visits. Who would believe him? But he knew he wasn’t imagining it. He had always dabbled with magic and dark arts, so it wasn’t altogether surprising to him that he could remain in contact with his lifelong friend. He was drinking wine, with Elizabeth The 3rd asleep on his lap as usual, when V appeared again.
“Rika misses Yoosung. Is there any way you could pass on a message?”
“I don’t know, V. Those guys all make fun of me enough as it is. But more importantly, I’m afraid it would send Yoosung backwards in his grieving. He’s spending a lot of time with Saeyoung and Saeran, they are all helping each other heal.”
V nodded, “Very well. I wouldn’t want to risk that either. The dead are departed for a reason.”
“Yes. At least our friendship lives on,” Jumin smiled at the mint haired ghost.
“I am proud to call Jumin Han my friend, even after my death. I’m glad we are still able to meet. I shall go back now, goodnight.”
Both men chuckled as Elizabeth the 3rd woke up just in time to say goodbye to V. She too, could see, or at least sense his presence, which gave comfort to Jumin that he wasn’t alone.
