How to Comment on Podfic: TLDR Edition

(to be perfectly clear, all comments are good! tiers are based on level of effort they take, not how good they are! comment on podfics!! this is just advice on how!)

Basic tier:

Thank you for narrating this! I really enjoyed being able to listen to it.

Middle tier:

Thank you for narrating this! I really enjoyed being able to listen to it. I really liked this cool editing effect you did [OR] I really enjoyed the way you voiced this character [OR] You really managed to bring through this element / emotion central to the fic in your reading.

God tier:

Thank you for narrating this! I really enjoyed being able to listen to it.

I really liked [.....]

[PLUS]

“quote line” This line really hit me in your reading because it made me feel a certain way about what was happening in the fic.

Astrology's weird bc if you've only ever had fun with it and come across someone w seething hatred for it you're understandably like, what the fuck is this person's problem? But also if you've seen someone take it Too Far, any mention of it understandably becomes a red flag

Like imagine if you really liked Pokemon and you're like, "I really don't see why people would hate this unless they're just assholes for no reason?" Like it's a totally normal opinion opinion to have. But also imagine if you took a quiz and learned you were a Bug type and people stopped talking to you because they were like "It's in your nature to be emotionally manipulative." It would also be totally normal to be like "Oh okay fuck Pokemon fans then."

Now you may be like, "But the latter situation doesn't happen!" and that tells me you are fortunate because you have not dealt with the worst that the west coast of America has to offer

All this is to say, I too was once a "Let people have fun" person, and then I met gay people from Portland and now I am not that person

I'm in the "it's fine if you like reading your horoscope but I don't think the US president should utilize it to make policy decisions" camp

of course socialism would eliminate a lot of shitty jobs that do nothing good for anybody but it would also make a lot of existing shitty jobs so much more bearable. i don't know anyone who works in retail or data entry who wouldn't be ten times happier doing the exact same tasks but knowing that their labour results in an actual benefit to society and not extra profit for the corporation they work for. and also maybe not being treated like subhumans by their bosses who can decide if they live or starve

they used to make smackable technology. you used to be able to hit your tv when it didn't work good.

when I was a kid I had an old tv in my room that would always turn to unwatchable static in the middle of shows but one night my sister and I were watching Naruto & every time Kakashi was on-screen the static cleared so we were like “hahaha the tv looooves Kakashi.”

I had a Kakashi bookmark so we held it up against the screen as a joke but the static actually cleared up. Mystified, we tried different bookmarks and objects with the same plastic material but nothing else worked, only the Kakashi bookmark.

We ended up taping it to the corner of the screen and it stayed there for 11 years until we moved out. When I was older people would be like “can you move the bookmark off the screen” bc it did sort of block a bit of the view but I would demonstrate the static issue and everyone was always just like “huh. what the hell?? well…alright.”

No explanation, but thanks Kakashi.
