It’s been about a month since Episode IX, and you’ve all been so patiently waiting for an announcement from us regarding where we’re going from now on.
As you all know, the trilogy has come to an end. A strange mix of relief, disbelief and sadness has struck us here at Finnrey Fridays, as we’re sure it has for you guys, too. Things definitely haven’t been ideal for our franchise, to put it very lightly. And in the fandom itself, things have never been easy, and we feel so honoured to have been able to keep this going through everything SW has thrown at us, thanks to your continued support. It’s been a ride, and we’ve been on it together.
However, we realized that we, and others, aren’t quite ready to let go of Finnrey completely, despite what has come to pass for our franchise. We were never involved solely for what canon would portray; we loved these two characters and their potential, their deep connection to each other and the blatant chemistry they’ve always had. We loved the potential for Finnrey, and we know that you still do, too.
So, on that note, we do have some bittersweet news. Finnrey Fridays will no longer be a weekly event as it has been for all these years. But fear not! We aren’t technically going anywhere—this blog will remain active, becoming Finnrey Forever, reblogging all Finnrey-positive content on to the blog, 7 days a week. We won’t be doing weekly Finnrey Fridays, but we’ll still be here—here for Finnrey for as long as you guys make your wonderful content! And who knows, maybe in the future with enough interest we will have another prompt-themed event.
We are going to be tracking the #FinnreyFridays tag as usual, and now the #FinnreyForever tag, and reblogging content on to our blog when we see it. We will also be watching the #Finnrey tag.
Feel free to still @ the blog in any of your Finnrey posts on any day of the week—you can even use some of our old themes as inspiration whenever you like and we will pop it in the theme’s tag on the blog.
We will be adding some new features to our tagging systems.
We will be tagging: #TFAera, #TLJera, #TRoSera, #TRoSAU, and #AU. That way, if any of you wish to avoid things from *ahem* certain points in the story, you can blacklist or just have a look at the tags before clicking a link, fic, etc.
Our URL will be remaining the same. We want to pay homage to our dear Finnrey Fridays, so if you do @ us in your posts, don’t worry, we are still @Finnreyfridays.
Thank you all so much for your continued support over the years, and though things are changing just a little bit, we hope you will stick around with us!

They’re making space mom proud
john boyega, oscar isaac, and kelly marie tran endured years of racist abuse and harassment (mostly) from r*ylos. they were sidelined from a film series in which they were originally promised much larger roles. finn was advertised as part of the new generation of jedi in the marketing for tfa, a film which also set up finn, rey, and poe as the new trio. kelly marie tran had to delete all of her social media, and oscar has repeatedly stated that, knowing what he knows now, he would have asked for poe to be killed off rather than have himself and the character treated the way he was. so if john wants to “lash out~” or whatever, he has every right. disney doesn’t own him, oscar, or kelly, and if any or all of them want to say “fuck disney and fuck the people who harassed us”, more power to them.
grow up and realize that not everything revolves around your fictional ship and your white faves.
