January 20, 1973: John Simon Ritchie (Beverley), aka Sid Vicious, along with friend David Stevens (who confirmed this photo), visited the record signing of Elton John’s Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only the Piano Player, at Noel Edmonds Record Bar in London. He was pictured to Elton’s left side, next to his glasses.

And, another photo of Sid Vicious on high right hand side of Elton John.

I wonder how many people had their sexual awakening/BDSM discovery moment while watching Harry Houdini’s act. There was no way everyone went for only entertainment’s sake. Edwardian young man staring up at the stage aghast as a beautiful sinewy man struggles and contorts himself to escape his binds, his own face reddening and thinking “Good heavens, I AM a sodomite.”

you always hear that human nature is too evil for true communism but you never see that kind of perspective turned back on to laissez-faire economics. if humans are too evil for collective control youd think they would also be too evil for complete unregulation but no they never say that

OK but I do genuinely believe we need to push for something like this before it's too late - and not just in digital spaces. We should have the right to peace and quiet from advertising. There should be more limits on how much and where we get advertising because otherwise it'll just become a creep of more and more until every fucking public space is lit with several billboards blasting us with ads, and the walls between spaces lined with ads, and our commutes filled with ads, and local parks sponsored by corporations to offset the cost of local councils, and so on and on and on and on. No. I need quiet. I need spaces where ads cannot touch me.

raise a glass to the posts you love that end up deleted. to the fanart and fanfics you lose track of and can’t locate. to the blogs you used to look through that ended up unexpectedly disappearing. to the things you didn’t archive because you always assumed they’d be there.

This is why reblogs are important. They keep circulating posts even when the blogs are long gone.

And this is why telling artists/writers/creators their work matters means so much. You might be the only one who says it.

It is entirely too easy to get tired or despondent or feel worthless and just give up.

I remember hearing that in the satanic panic of the 80s a preschool (kindergarten?) was accused of making the children all take off their clothes and dance naked in some ritual in the span of an hour. and she, exasperated, was like. (Paraphrasing) “have you ever tried to get ONE toddler dressed? You think I could get a whole classroom undressed and redressed? In an hour??”

Idk if anyone here has been paying any attention whatsoever to the Drake vs Kendrick beef but I am losing my mind over this comment

No literally I'm always so suspicious of people who refuse to listen to rap cause it is SUCH a diverse genre of music so like wdym you don't like rap. I'm all for preferences and all that but when people say they don't like rap as a whole like 9 times out of 10 they're just racist lmao
