My theory is that Chloe’s mom seduced Mayor Borgeouis for his money and power and had Chloe on accident. She couldn’t handle the responsibility and left. Reminds me of Meredith from the Parent Trap...
Did anyone else notice that as soon as Gabriel akumatized himself, the first thing he did was head over to Adrien’s room to put him into his book? I think it’s because he knows that Adrien is Chat Noir, so he figured that by capturing his son first it would make the fight almost too easy and Ladybug would have to fight him off on her own. Gabriel’s approach towards Adrien is very manipulative and very calculating—I think from the Mime episode it’s been established that Gabriel knows his son’s identity. He wants the cat miraculous but he can’t possibly risk Adrien finding out that he’s Hawkmoth, so he exclusively makes attempts to take it when he is Hawkmoth. Furthermore, he seems to exaggerate his concern for Adrien in front of Chat Noir after he is de-akumatized, trying to highlight the fact that he “cares” about him (in a twisted sort of way, but whatever.) When Gabriel grabs Chat Noir’s shoulder and says how much Adrien means to him, you just know that he’s being a snake and is trying his hardest to make Adrien trust him.
