There will be moments when you are pushed to your absolute limits. It may get to the point when you feel like the world is collapsing in on you. This is important, for it is during these moments when you learn of your true capabilities and how far you can really go. You’re much stronger and resilient than you could have ever imagined.

The 1950s were not perfect and they were especially bad for women and minorities, the LGBTQ community, anyone with mental health issues, victims of domestic violence, child abuse, sex abuse, sexual harassment. It was harder to get a formal education. Schools were segregated. Smoking was rampant. People died from all cancers. I wouldn’t want to go back.

I will be part of the landscape. I will have raised my children and they their own to believe in equality, love without borders, and diversity as more than words. They will be respectful, responsible, and resilient. They will work together for a better world. Someday our society will look beyond race, gender, religion, and other things which divide us. We will finally just become humans nothing more and nothing less.

This is the correct answer. Did you know that when she finds out a studio has asked an actress to lose weight she contacts them and yells at them?

I did not know that, but I do remember an interview where she said she keeps her Oscar in her downstairs loo, because that’s the one her guests use, so they can just go use the loo and don’t have to ask if they can hold her Oscar. Plus then they’ve got the mirror so they can practice their acceptance speeches.

That is amazing, now I need to go to her house and ask to use her loo.

Also I will never, ever, ever be over Emma Thompson giving an acceptance speech as Jane Austen.

4am, having just returned from an evening at the Golden Spheres…
