why did you think it was a good idea to inform tumblr of this debate
Starfleet Science/Medical’s version of the Kobayashi Maru is the Hypospray Maru. You’re left in a room containing just a random hypospray, told its use has the potential to stop someone’s suffering but it’s never been tried before, and if you inject it into yourself to see what it does, you’re officially crazy enough to lead a department.
I’m just picturing a timed test situation though where the cadets are supposed to deduce and delegate resources to figure out what’s in the hypospray.
Then Bones just rolls in, injects himself immediately, tests his own blood, and calls it a day.
To this day, he holds the record for fastest time completing the test.
#bones is the Jim Kirk of the medical world
That Fucking Tag oh my god
okay but for a true parallel Bones would have to be the first person to try that. like. can you imagine?
proctor: “W….why the fuck did you inject yourself?!”
doctor leonard horatio “bones” mccoy: “Well we were on a time limit and we wouldn’t know if it worked until it went to human trials, so…”
proctor: “And it didn’t occur to you to inform the rest of the group of your thought process? Maybe see if anyone had any other ideas or select a test subject?”
bones: “Nah they would’ve stopped me or wasted time discussing it. This was faster.”
proctor: “And if you died?!”
bones: “Eh, I could’ve fixed it in time. And I left notes, so. No biggie.”
Bones passes with flying colors and a therapy referral for either egoism or suicidal depression.
… Now I want to know what the Vulcan Science Academy’s version of the Kobyashi Maru is, and if/how Spock Kirked his way out of that
I think Spock’s version of beating the Vulcan Science Academy’s version of the Kobayashi Maru was refusing to go to the Vulcan Science Academy.
i just want to lay in bed and read books all day and not participate in life
Guys I found them!! 🧡💚
After we went crazy yesterday with the thread(s) about Bakugou being the one to retrieve our Wayward Deku, and Deku collapsing mid-fight with him from exhaustion, Yep, I had to draw.
Katsuki carrying Izuku to safety so the boy can have a damn N A P. Probably what their friends see as he emerges from the aftermath of their partial blowout fight or when he walks into whatever they have for a safe house.
As stated in my thread, he denies all help to carry Izuku because Katsuki now accepts and is actually kind of possessive of the full responsibility of helping to carry Izuku's burden, in a literal sense and a figurative one.
Guys I'm actually really happy about this sketch :')
he found him!
It took me hours to draw his dumb hair
TOS and AOS stuff.
We’ve had the Greek/Roman sibling duo for Hades and Zeus, and their powers reflect different aspects (Nico the dead and Hazel riches/ Thalia lightning and Jason air), so where’s my Roman daughter of Neptune who causes earthquakes?
So I headcanon her to be a couple years older than Percy, maybe 18 or 19 in SON
And Percy is supposed to represent the gentler aspects of Poseidon, right? So he controls salt and fresh water, is energized and healed by it, and causes the occasional mini hurricane.
Her powers are darker and much more taxing. Earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, she causes utter destruction. But these powers are taxing. And instead of being healed by water, it saps her strength and tries to tear her down. While Percy works with the water, guiding it and passing power back and forth, she has to force it do what she wants, and it fights her every move.
The romans feared the sea, so they fear her too and keep her as an almost prisoner. She’ll never have any political power, but when the wars start and threat grows too big, they bring the daughter of Neptune in.
She has an angular face and Percy’s brooding expression, but colder. Dark eyebrows, blue eyes so dark they’re almost black, her face hidden in shadow most of the time.
She grew up in Seattle, a city of storms and rain, in wooden house on the coast with her mother. When she was twelve they had a fight, and she felt pressure build up inside her until it had be released and with a scream a towering wave crashed through the front of the house. When she finally found her mom among the wreckage, there was no pulse.
So she spends her time with Lupa, then makes it to the legion. As a daughter of Neptune no one trusts her, but they grow to fear her.
The first time she bloodbended was when a first cohort kid cornered her an alleyway and called her a monster for killing her mom. Her vision went red and she reached out, felt the blood pulsing under his skin and through his tissue. How hard would it be to stop that flow? So she does, and he gasps and falls to the ground, eyes bulging. She feels his pulse waning, his blood slowing in his veins, his brain crying for oxygen. And she releases her hold. He was right, after all.
Rumors spread, and soon she had an audience with both praetors. They agreed to leave her alone as long as she didn’t use her powers like that ever again. She agreed, but let the threat of blood bending hang over them. If you ever do something I don’t like, I will destroy you.
But she blood blends monsters all the time, blocks the carotid artery or even the aorta, sometimes forcing their arms and legs to move against their will. Does she enjoy it? If the only options are to hate herself or take pleasure in it, she chooses the latter.
There are always whispers about her, the daughter of Neptune who lives alone on the hill. A black mark on the legion’s shining history. She visits Poseidon’s throne to spit on it, he cursed her with these powers, he made her what she is.
And so when Percy shows up, Reyna is very uncomfortable. She’s seen how powerful a child of Neptune can be. If Percy is an enemy, he had to be eliminated immediately.
But he isn’t a threat, and she can see that. He’s different in some way, calmer, more willing to help.
When Percy meets his sister, he sees a dark shell. The sea is always shifting, moody and dark, stormy, calm. If Percy is the calm, what is she? She scares him in a way he can’t put a finger on until he realizes: he’s afraid of becoming her. How could she turn out like that?
But after Tartarus, he gets it. He’s seen the weight that rests on Jason’s shoulders, the self-hatred Nico barely keeps in check, the fear in Hazel’s eyes when she grabbed that diamond from Don. Power is no easy burden, and the more of it you have, the harder is to keep it from controlling you.
Found this in my Knight in shining armour art file from 2018. Obviously I planned it to be a more parted piece but ended up posting just one even though I already had this piece done, lol. I wonder what else I’ll find in other art files *detective mode on*
