Atsushi dusted the top of the shelves in their shared apartment. He had taken it upon himself to clean the place up.
He heard the front door open and close, immediately knowing that Akutagawa had returned. "I'm back", came his voice and Atsushi replied with a "here", so that Akutagawa could follow his voice.
Akutagawa appeared at the doorway and Atsushi got down the ladder to meet him. The dust flew around causing Akutagawa to cough.
"Hey you good Ryuu? I think we should go out of this room." Akutagawa just nodded and let Atsushi guide him to the couch in the living room. Once the coughing subsided he frowned at Atsushi. "Why did you do that?"
"There's absolutely no reason for you to get dust flying around everywhere. You know I have problems breathing."
Atsushi looked offended, "well, I'm sorry for giving a fuck about you then. You think I like to increase my work load unnecessarily? Maybe, the reason I decided to clean everything was so that dust doesn't settle around and slowly but surely worsen your health. Maybe, I did it so that infections have a smaller chance of spreading here, knowing about your weak immunity, but you're probably right, I did it to make you cough for some godforsaken reason right?" he said angrily.
Akutagawa looked shocked at his out burst. "You did that because..."
"I care about you Aku. I would never do something to hurt you. Why would you even think that?"
"I- I don't know. I've never really had anyone who took care of me unconditionally. It's just an imaginary concept to me."
Atsushi ran his thumb across Akutagawa's cheek and smiled. "Me neither, but we have each other now, don't we? We can be that person for each other."
Akutagawa blushed looking at bright smile Atsushi gave him and immediately hugged him, burying his face in his clothes. "Uh... Ryuu I don't think that's a good id-"
"Yeah, my clothes aren't exactly dust free right now. Why don't you go rest in the room. I'll complete that room and get you some tea." Atsushi kissed the tip of his nose.
Akutagawa nodded and left for his room as his heart filled with emotions he had never felt before. Was this how it felt to be loved, to have someone to rely on? Whatever it was, Akutagawa wanted to preserve it.
