Something about that 1x13 Max line that punches me in the feelings so hard every damn time. Combined with the breathlessness in his delivery, the smile at Liz.

It’s so damn hopeful and relieved. The day is saved and he’s got Liz and they’re in love.

And yet there’s also this element that Liz is totally clueless about right now—how he’s charged up on lightning and murder and power. He feels like he’s on top of the world and can do anything.

And he can do anything. But he’s going to kill himself doing it. God.

It’s crazy how that ending scene of Liz crying over Max’s dead body in the cave is actually SO FAST. It’s ten seconds of drama.

And yet my memory of that moment is being in that dusty, glowing cave for months and months, depressed as fuck about it. Damn, bingeing this show now must be such a different emotional experience for new Echo fans lol.

Been doing a brief rewatch of highlight scenes but thinking of doing a full S1 rewatch now 🤔

The browser version doesn’t work anymore (tries to default to mobile version). When I try searching my blog’s tags, it shows me posts out of order AND doesn’t show all the posts I know exist under my tag 😭 That sucks… really interrupts my trip down memory lane lol.

1x11 reminding me how fandom took this line as canon confirmation that Michael was 100% against the cover-up & an innocent baby to Max’s manipulation, as if he and Isobel didn’t intervene to send Liz away when Max wanted to tell the truth at 17 and then do it again ten years later.

Michael had just as much agency as Max did in this situation (i.e. tough decisions in an impossible situation), showed capacity to act against Max’s decisions (and DID when it suited him—he acted with Max when he agreed with him, and against Max when he disagreed with him), but then would shift all responsibility and blame like he was a helpless victim to Max’s master plan. He’s an unreliable narrator that fandom took as a beacon of truth lol.

Damn, that scene brought up frustration again 5 years later 😂

Liz using Max’s feelings in 1x02 to manipulate him into agreeing to experiments is so hot.

Max being so revved up by his chaotic powers and having almost kissed Liz that he has to chase sexual relief is so hot.

The God of Wine ending still slaps.

Ugh S1 my beloved.

I had this weird dream last night (half rnm / half random hard sci-fi idk what) of a rnm continuation. Anyway it was this weird crystal/mirror verse with a “Jones” villain (except it was Max turned evil, corrupted by crystals somehow?), Liz with all these weapons strapped to her body and being a badass, everyone stuck on like these rocky mountains, Echo heartbreak, Max with this metal weapon that was spitting electricity when it made contact with other weapons/objects, references of canon bi Max, etc, and it seemed like it was going to end badly… but then Liz used the crystals/mirrors to “split” Max from what had corrupted him. And then I got a bunch of cinematic Echo kisses surrounded by glittering crystals and desert landscapes. Then this weird staircase kiss that made use of Jeanine’s physicality. Liz was ecstatic and bursting with joy. Anyway made me happy.
