5 AU Headcanons: Sivagami is present when Devasena asks Kattappa if he would take Mahendra up in his arms first.

Avatar

Sivagami’s first inclination, not unlike that of a sulking child, is to tarry as long as possible before presenting herself at her daughter-in-law’s seemantham; but all too soon, better sense prevails. Her responsibility as family is to arrive early, no matter how much more time she might have to spend with Devasena. To do otherwise would be to forget her duty.

She enters the room as Devasena cheerfully addresses Kattappa: a kind gesture, Sivagami assumes at first, but troubling the more she thinks about it. Devasena seems bent on raising her child in the Kuntala fashion, and, as her all-too-casual treatment of Kattappa shows, not at all after the time-honored traditions of Mahishmati.

Before she can help herself, she asks: “And how many customs of Kuntala will the heir of Mahishmati be brought up with?” and Devasena frowns.

“As many as he should,” she replies, with a chilly courtesy Sivagami knows is put on solely for Baahu’s benefit. “Half of the blood that runs through his veins—“

“Or hers,” Baahu interjects quietly, though neither woman pays him any attention.

“—shall be that of Kuntala.” An unfortunate fact, that; and one Sivagami does her best to ignore. Imagine another Devasena, disobedient and disruptive, on the throne! The work of a thousand years should be shattered at once.

It is strange: all these months, Sivagami has forced herself to keep Baahu close, despite all the risk to Bhalla’s uncertain reign, for fear of losing his child. But if that child should prove as unsatisfactory….If so, that should change a great deal, indeed.

She will have to think long and hard on the matter later tonight, but for now, she can only sit back in silence and await Bhalla’s arrival, after which she might retreat. And yet her heart is as heavy as though she were deprived of another excuse to do as she wishes, rather than as she ought.

Whoops indeed. I guess when it took WKKB to make Sivagami see reason, this has to end this way. Oh Sivagami.

How to Import Your Tumblr Into WordPress

From the left-hand menu of your WordPress Dashboard, select Tools and Import.

From the Import screen, select Tumblr and Install Now.

Run the Importer.

The Import Tumblr screen comes up. Don’t worry about the technical stuff. All you’re doing here is making it so that WordPress can talk to directly Tumblr and vice versa. Instead of you having to pack all of your posts into a suitcase so you can leave the Tumblr hotel and go across town and check into the WordPress hotel and unpack your posts there, you’re just going to put your posts into a pneumatic tube that’s going to shoot directly into your new room, easy peasy lemon squeezy.

There’s a joke in there about the Internet being a series of tubes, but that would tell you how old I am.

Click on the link to the Tumblr page where you’ll create the app.

Click on the big green Register application button.

The next page is called Register your application and it’s where you’ll use the information that the WordPress Import Tumblr page gave you. Everything other than the following things can remain blank.

Select anything you want for your Application Name.

The Application Website and the Default callback URL will have been provided by WordPress.

Put whatever you like for the Application Description.

Select the I’m not a robot button and click Register.

Now you’ve got the information you need to connect your WordPress and Tumblr accounts.

Back on the WordPress side of things you can enter your OAuth Consumer Key and Secret Key to connect your WordPress and Tumblr accounts. Click Connect to Tumblr.

Select Authorize the Application.

Grant the Tumblr application that you’ve created access to your WordPress.

Select the blog you want to import. (All of your sideblogs will show as well. As you can see, I have far too many. I refuse to apologize for my ways.)

And you’re off. I have a gigabit ethernet connection and seem to average maybe 415 posts an hour, give or take.

Good luck, everyone!

Followers, if you want to preserve your entire blog like we’re doing, this is a step by step guide!

Looks like I will need this!

5 AU Headcanons: Coffeeshop AU/Modern-Day Nidhana

Requested by @ratnas-musings, with the caveat that this might differ from the actual way Abhinav turns out ;) Thanks to Maya/@parlegee, who as always, is responsible for all the good ones of these headcanons!

1. Mahendra’s parents’ business is built on research and development, surviving largely because of Father’s ideas and ability to charm investors and Mother’s uncanny business sense, but that doesn’t mean Mahendra doesn’t contribute, young as he is.

He is five years old when he stares at a proposed model and can’t help but ask: “But can palm trees really do that much?”

The representative making the presentation opens and closes his mouth helplessly. Mahendra wonders if he’s made some awful mistake; but Mother only laughs.

Soon enough, a policy is made that if problems in a design are so obvious as to be found by Mahendra himself, it ought not to be funded further.

2. His parents offer him more in the way of pocket money, but Mahendra just shrugs. He can’t see that there’s anything he really truly needs that he doesn’t already have, except maybe more jamun fruits and a pet elephant. Every time he overindulges in sweets, he always comes down with stomach-ache, and he doubts an elephant might fit inside their small flat.

”Hugs,” he decides at last. “You can pay me in hugs.”

3. He learns to order takeout early, largely out of self-defense—because let’s face it, neither of his parents have time and/or talent to cook— and another one of the responsibilities he’s terribly proud of is deciding what dinner will be every night.

4. Mahendra’s other other favorite responsibility is deciding on and distributing the employees’ holiday gifts, and if any of them disagree with his taste, they are at least kind enough not to do so within his ears’ notice.

5. As he grows older, Mahendra is given a surprising amount of freedom, and he loves to explore the city. So it is not surprising that eventually he does notice that every time he comes back to the office, the same limousine seems to be parked in front; nor that he thinks nothing of knocking politely on the window until the lady inside rolls it down.

“You’re welcome to come inside,” he says cheerfully, even as the lady, gray-haired and grave, blinks in surprise.

Resource update for Baahubali writers/fans/friends!

The official concept art page  has been updated with BB2 designs, and for those of you who write, getting a close-up look at the Kuntala palace, the Flying Swan Boat and/or other parts of the Mahishmati palace might be helpful!

If you are still taking 5 Headcanon AU prompts: Sivagami sings for Mahendra (and puts him to sleep) in the Sivagami takes control of Mahendra by force Nidhana AU...

Avatar

From HERE:

3.5. Mahendra tries not to be difficult, but it is not his fault that Grandmother doesn’t like to hear him of staying awake all night long, any more than it is that he can’t sleep in the too-soft beds and too-silky sheets that are provided him.

At last she approaches him, when he’s blinking up at the moon that’s almost reached its highest point, and demands to know what is wrong.

Mahendra blinks even more, because for a moment, there is little to choose from between the moon’s terrible brilliance and Grandmother’s terrible anger, and then he straightens. “I can’t sleep,” he says, “not without Mother to sing for me.”

(There is no time, Mahendra supposes, like the present to try and see if Grandmother might be feeling merciful; and no shame in trying again and again and again.)

“Is that all?” Grandmother huffs and settles down by the bed. She pats his head, impatiently at first, but then more gently, and sings promises into the air: of a brother that will play with him, of Grandfather who will always protect him. She might sing his name, but Mahendra does not think she is singing for him, not at all.

He falls asleep nonetheless. He can’t help it. He hopes the next night that Grandmother might sing for him again, but she doesn’t come that night, nor the next, and Mahendra turns his thoughts to escape once more.
