I just realized that the reason I didn't immediately catch Terry's coming out scene is because in the Greek subtitles they translated it to 'when I was young the other elves show me as weak but I always knew that I had power inside me' which completely changes the meaning of the scene. So I went a bit further and changed the sound from English to the Greek dub and its even worse because they changed doe to fawn or more accurately translated 'little deer'. Which again changes the meaning of the scene and doesn't bring across the fact that Terry is a trans man .

RARE RUNE RUNAAN

So at the beginning of season 4 we learn about the runes on the Mirror. They're rare, so rare that Callum needs a book specialising in rare runes and symbols to translate the runes on the mirror

The runes on the mirror are so rare and unique that they don't appear in the regular pages of the Tome of Translation and need magic to finally be translated.

It's clear then that very few individuals would know this language and could perhaps explain why Lain and Tiadrin were not concerned or worried about Viren seeing the mirror when he went to kill Zym. They couldn't read it and therefore had no idea of it's true power and significance.

Which brings me to this question, does Runaan know how to read these rare runes? This is him examining the mirror way back in season 1

And then his reaction

And this is the translation

So could Runaan possibly know how to read these runes? And if he does know that would suggest that he knows that the "Fallen Star" refers to Aaravos.

This would put him in a very exclusive club of individuals who know about Aaravos, his past and the threat he poses to the world.

Also this

Zubeia didn't know that Viren had taken the mirror so that also suggests that Runaan has known about this mirror for some time in order to recognise it so quickly.

So could we possibly get Runaan translating rare and ancient runes in future seasons or some backstory explaining why he knows who Aaravos is? This would be incredibly interesting as he and Ibis were the only 2 elves who knew about him prior to Zubeia telling Ezran and Rayla this story in 4x04.

Runaan could've seen the Looking Glass at the Storm Spire on some kind of official visit, to know it on sight. As one of the elves entrusted with the safety of all of Xadia, he probably knows what the runes say even if he can't read the whole language...

But it would be cooler if he can. He does like to read for relaxation. Maybe his shelves hold many languages.

I like his comparison with Ibis too, because Ibis had a primal stone in his mage staff and he was friends with the Dragon Queen. Ibis was important in the grandest schemes of Xadia. The more that Runaan can operate on that level, the more sense it makes that he has to be out of the picture for a while so the kids can discover things themselves.

When Runaan comes back on the scene, the things he knows and can tell others are going to be really important. I can't wait to find out what he knows about Big Important Xadian Things.
