Hello I'm alive and back with a psa
Today is the 103rd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
I feel like this needs to be spread around more. I'm not Armenian, and if I didn't live where I do (A city one of the highest populations of Armenians in the US) I never would have known about this.
The Armenian Genocide was the massacre of 1.5 million Armenians by the Ottoman Empire, and its successor, Turkey.
Despite all of this, Turkey refuses to acknowledge the Armenian Genocide happening.
THIS IS A REAL EVENT IN HISTORY. THIS HAPPENED. THERE'S NO DENYING THE FACTS. OUR WOUNDS ARE STILL OPEN.
And that's why we have marches, to protest. I know that there's a bunch in California. If you have the time, check to see if there's a march near you.
I'll be going to one! Don't feel like you can't march if you're not Armenian! The more, the better.
If you are also remembering people or marching today, please tell me what I can do. (or tell me what I’m doing wrong)
Please spread this and anything else like this post around.
(On a completely different note, congrats to Armenians for the resignation of the prime minister! You guys did it!!)
