I set myself a very unrealistic and slightly crazy goal in the hopes that on the path to reaching it lesser, but still awesome, things happen.

Ass Kicking April!

That's what it was dubbed by one of my fitness challenge pals. We all slacked off in what we supposed to be March Madness so April is when we atone for our fitness sins.

Despite heavily slacking off I managed to win the monthly mini challenge. Full credit goes to maintaining my caloric intake properly.

The plan for this month's jumpstart challenge is to do a 30 day workout streak of at least 30 minutes per day. Everyday you don't workout you add a dollar to the pot. Whoever maintains the longest streak wins it all.

I've got a good shot of taking it if I don't spend too many days boozing. 😉

Good ruck today! Phone is dead so not sure if the exact milage and calorie burn.

Definitely ready to add another 5 pounds to the sack. Possibly more for shorter distance?

Been eating like a raccoon since I got home so I think it's time to shower and grab something to eat at the local brewery.

Back pain is long gone but the cold has made me extra lazy the past few days.

Weather permitting I'm looking forward to a long ruck tomorrow and possibly steak for dinner tonight?

I need a strength workout tomorrow. I also need to go into the office. I also have a few errands.... Most importantly I've got some gnarly back pain.

Power through or take a knee?

2021 Fitness Challenge: Day....

Not sure what day we're on again. I really gotta pay attention to that.

Had a weigh in on Saturday and I'm down another five months for the month. Even though "weight loss" wasn't a true goal of mine I'm going to take pride in sticking with a nutrition plan that enabled me to do that.

Currently I'm 211lbs and don't really have a lot left to lose. I refuse to dip under 200 so at this rate I'm going to have to do a hard adjust come the end of April.

Preliminarily I'm thinking of switching gears to endurance building for the remainder of this challenge. It'll help me reach one of my secret goals and also allow me to increase my calories somewhat to fuel the new training routine.

Still haven't found my strength training groove and now that my lower back has been tight the past week I'm not sure when I'll actually get around to it but I'm ready for when it does eventually happen.

I have really been slacking on strength workouts and those have always been my favorite.

Today's goal is to leave work "on time" and get home for a good kettlebell circuit.

2021 Fitness Challenge: Day 30 - weigh-in week

Down 8 pounds!

I'm happy I think. Weight loss wasn't really my goal but losing a few wouldn't hurt. I also lost a few percent in body fat which WAS a goal. Since the weight has to come to from somewhere I'm glad it was fat.

I've mostly been just rucking and swinging kettlebells and drastically cutting calories. Drastic relative to my normal eating habits of course.

I really don't want to lose more than six more pounds but I'm willing to go up to sixteen more.

I've taken the past couple of days off, mostly by circumstance, but I'm hoping to get a good ruck in tomorrow and a good strength day in Thursday.

Let's keep it rolling!
