IMO the new labels actually are hurting us. We aren’t attacking people for just existing, the labels are the problem.

That changes literally nothing. It’s a label. A word. A word that people use. A word that gets them harassed. That causes them to be a target in their own community because “the labels are the problem”. Does that really sound like a cause you want to stand by?

I don’t really see how they’re being harassed. For the most part, it’s just bisexuals making posts talking about their frustrations with the label. If they’re targeting specific people for choosing pansexual, then I don’t agree with their approach. You would be right in that case.

Additionally, I choose the cause that I want to stand by using the debate, not the people in it. If you’ve seen people on my side harass people, then I would like to apologize on their behalf, as I do not endorse that behavior. That still doesn’t change the fact that the new mspec labels are continuing to divide the community and spread misinformation and biphobia.

And what are you gonna do about it, anyway? Make them use a word they don’t want to use for whatever reason? If the label makes them feel comfortable with themselves then why should it matter?
