all queer discourse could be stopped if we all just remembered that in the eyes of conservative fascists we're all dirty queers polluting their kids minds who need to be eradicated at all costs

the selective breeding of music to get shorter and shorter for tik tok has resulted in devastating negative long term health effects on the songs

what do you mean this album is 12 songs and only 24 minutes total it's not going to survive the winter

the amount of completely inaccurate and borderline offensive versions of holocaust history ive seen lately, mostly for the repulsive purpose of defending western civilization, makes me feel like physically sick sometimes lmao. i can not believe i just saw someone say that unlike other genocides there were no economic incentives for the holocaust. im going to fucking scream. i hate to be this way but please if you never fucking studied this just shut the fuck up. cause its really obvious a lot of you guys havent. jsyk i think maybe around 15% or less of property and assets stolen from jews was ever returned

the causes of the holocaust can not be vulgarly reduced to economic factors by any means, but to differentiate it from genocides perpetuated by western countries in africa, latin america, and asia that brutally murdered and enslaved hundreds of millions of people through colonialism and imperialism by saying that the nazis were uniquely irrational is to reject to continuities between western civilization and fascism, and the violence at the heart of western civilization. its a childlike understanding of rationality and irrationality that also implicitly agrees there is something rational about destroying an entire people, if they have a resource you want. its also absurdly ignorant of the many ways that land theft and accumulation of capital and forced labor featured into the holocaust, the entire organization of its facilitation, just basically any economic history about nazi germany and its policies. and its hypocritical on a philosophical level

  • the birthplace of jesus, bethlehem, is being raided
  • lebanon was also bombed today
  • there were jews, muslims, and christians living together in peace in palestine before israel was established
  • there are still christians and churches in palestine
  • many israelis are violent and discriminatory towards christians
  • bethlehem cancelled christmas celebrations this year for the first time
  • about 10,000 children have been killed in gaza since october 7th

For the first time since the 1948 Nakba, there was no Christmas tree lighting outside the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, Palestine.

In its place, an installation depicting the nativity scene is placed as if it were taking place in Gaza today. This is done in support of the people of Gaza who have been facing a harrowing Israeli aggression for the past 80 days, an aggression so catastrophic that it lead to cancelling Christmas celebrations in Bethlehem this year.

With the nativity models placed amid rubble and barbed wire, the star of Bethlehem is represented by the aftermath of a bomb hitting their shelter. The scene replicates those following Israeli shelling of civilian homes in Gaza.

Yes, such a claim makes him look like a small-minded piece of shit. To us. But we still shouldn't help Musk create revisionist history.

Musk bought Twitter because he fucked around and found out. He wanted to fuck with Twitter's stock price by feigning interest in buying it. Since that's illegal, he was then cornered into actually buying it for an insanely inflated price.

He's a transphobe. He's a bad father. But he's also a fucking idiot.

This. Please remember that he committed blatant market manipulation by not disclosing that he owned shares of Twitter when he was fucking with the stock market. The SEC was watching him very closely already, and so when the cost became more than what the entire company was worth, he had no choice. Remember when he had his gaggle of lawyers try to get him out of it by saying Twitter didn't disclose all of the information? That wasn't Twitter, it was him trying desperately to get out of a purchase he didn't want in the first place.

Not enough jobs are willing to do training anymore, no matter what the situation. Grocery stores won't teach you to work a cash register, businesses won't teach you how to use their programs, even the arts won't teach you anything

Everyone wants a triple threat, expects you to just have those skills. In the old days? you could show up to a random theater barely able to dance and they'd teach you, and then the incel living in the walls would make you a world class singer and actor and you'd be headlining your own show in a few years

firefox just started doing this too so remember kids if you want to stream things like netflix or hulu over discord without the video being blacked out you just have to disable hardware acceleration in your browser settings!

for the people saying this might be too difficult: idk about chrome but in firefox it just goes

> open settings

> search "hardware acceleration" and there should only be one result

> uncheck use recommended performance settings

> uncheck use hardware acceleration

done!

i really hate when ppl say "how can israelis carry out ethnic cleansing when their parents and grandparents fled the holocaust" -- partially bc it shows zero understanding of the militarized israeli psyche and how the holocaust plays a major role in state propaganda to garner support for endless occupation and apartheid, partially because there is no sociological research that shows that a group that has suffered genocide won't do the same thing to others

what i get much more caught up asking myself is: we are a people who deeply understands the yearning and the pain of diaspora. 3,000 years of psalms and prayers and songs and holidays and stories that remind generation after generation of where the jewish people came from -- not voluntarily, but through ethnic cleansing and forcible transfer and expulsion

and yet we chose to inflict the unspeakable pain of exile upon the palestinian people

It didn't feel right to let this sit in the tags. If you aren't comfortable with what I'm doing, please say so.

I have a hard time talking about American law enforcement, because I have ptsd (like a therapist told me this and everything) from my own experiences with cops and because it's so balls quaking insane.

Like, a cop in the United States can pull you over for any reason. Which is a nice way of saying no reason, because literally anything can be used after the fact as justification. A cop can say its cuz you looked at him, or didnt look at him, or it looked like you were holding something, or looked like you were driving too perfectly for it to be natural. It's insane.

There are apparently no circumstances where a cop can't just kill you. The line the courts have applied is "reasonably believed" you were a threat, but that's such a nebulous nothing limit that people get shot for reaching for their license, having their phone in their hand, you're running away with no weapon, not being able to follow conflicting commands, like anything. And cops are almost never charged, because every court is going to believe he could "reasonably believe" he was threatened. Fuck, if you give me enough time, I can make any situation seem juuuuust plausibly threatening enough to pass that bar. It's insane.

A cop can just rob you. Like tell you to give him your wallet, take all the cash out, and just walk away with it. Exactly like you would imagine getting robbed in an alley would go, except no one can help. And he doesn't even have to hide it, he just drops it in a box at the station and they put it in their bank account. It's legal. You can't prove it wasn't drug money. I can't prove any money wasn't at some point drug money. It's insane.

If a cop just walks in your front door and says "I'm here to kill you and your entire family" YOU ARE GOING TO PRISON IF YOU STOP HIM. There is no positive defense for assaulting a police officer in the United States, and doubly so if you kill him. You have effectively no defense against a homicidal cop, which happens same as any other job. Unless for some reason you have cameras all thru your house and clearly caught the audio of him saying that he's there just to kill you, you have zero chance of not going to prison, probably for life. And that's assuming you aren't killed "resisting arrest" while being taken into custody. It is a crime, in this country, for you to defend yourself under any circumstances if the person you're defending yourself from is a cop. That's insane.

You don't have civil rights if a cop says so. You have the right to have a gun, right? A lot of states have open carry. A cop can shoot you if he sees you have a gun. Doesn't matter if you have a license and everything. So you effectively don't have the right to bear arms if a cop can shoot you for exercising it. You have the right to protest. Unless a cop tells you to stop. He doesn't need a real reason to tell you to stop. And if you don't stop, you can be arrested or shot. So you don't really have the right to protest, do you? A cop cant just search your car or house, right? Unless he claims he heard something, or smelled something, neither of which can be proven. So a cop can search whatever he wants, as long as he pretends there was a "reason". So you dont have protection from unreasonable search and seizure, do you? These are no longer rights- they're things the cops allow.. for now. But legally, those rights have already been found to not actually be rights, because any random cop can decide to take that right from you, for any reason. It's insane.

These aren't like crazy things that I'm just making up, these aren't some weird twisted way I'm looking at something, these are all very real things that we all just.. ignore? Police abolitionists and the media bring these things up all the time, and the overwhelming response to it is: so what? Don't break the law and it won't matter. Blue lives matter. More police funding. Cops should have tanks. It's insane. And I always feel like im just rambling and sound insane when I say this kind of stuff because if you wrote a book and had the dystopian government doing the stuff that the police in this country do every single day, those same people who "back the blue" would line up to say stuff like "*Books government* wouldnt have a chance before us real americans stopped them" on twitter and not even get a hint of the irony.
