Imagine marrying someone and he asks you to roleplay but his idea of roleplay is teacher-schoolgirl or librarian-client or some other boring shit? Excuse me sir, you’ve married a CERTIFIED fan fiction reader. We ARE recreating an entire Mafia-AU including a kidnapping, an arraigned marriage, fight to the death, enemies to lovers slow burn >200 000 word script, and I need it acted out FLAWLESSLY. You have unleashed a MONSTER, you good sir, and you have no idea what you’re getting into.

Normalize choosing to have a career instead of a kid. 

This applies to both men and women, but especially to women considering the patriarchal nature of our society. Bringing up a child is a job in itself, we pay teachers for doing this for 6 hours everyday, it requires a specific skill set, a particular mental framework. 

Not everyone can or is capable to do it. And it doesn’t make anyone less of a woman if she chooses not to be a parent. 

Think of the adverse consequences of a half-hearted attempt at parenting. The evolution of a child into an adult who could endanger humanity. Instead of bringing up child to be sociopaths, isn’t it better to not have children at all? This is a job where there is no room for mistake, much like doctors or pilots or army. Neglected upbringing, for example, could lead to men growing up to be rapists or wife-beaters. Do we really want that for women?  

Marriage and Reproduction are not essential or fundamental to our lives. We can lead a fulfilling life without out. 

And no, stop saying people can manage both. Honestly, most people can’t, otherwise humanity won’t be in such bad shape right now. We are confused humans who bring up more confused humans, at best. 

Those who can do both; great! they are super human beings. And those who can’t are also great, because they are normal, and it’s completely normal to be good at one thing in life and not another. 

P.S. If I wrote something offensive or insensitive or uneducated, please correct me. I am totally open to debate and learn new concepts re sociological/feminism/anti-patriarchy/etc. 

YESSSS!! When conversation around children and the future come up, my sister gushes over her goals of having lots kids running around her house and being active in their lives, and people always respond well. However, whenever I say I’m iffy about children (not even that I don’t want them, just that I’m iffy), I’m not met with the same enthusiasm: people bombard me with invasive questions and always say that I’m “too young” to consider not having them (but I’m old enough to decide that I should consider having kids?). Those goals are perfect for her- she’s insanely good with kids, loves managing a lot of things at once and has a godly patience- but the same goal isn’t perfect for me because I’m flat-out just not comfortable with it at the moment. Both are still good and valid!
