Drabbles, Blurbs, and Words

@drabbles-blurbs-words

I write stuff for a few fandoms although am currently on a BNHA hyperfixation. Always short and sweet, sometimes naughty. Multifandom, 18 +, and OC's eventually

I did say OC’s eventually

Hello!

I am the writer behind Petardo which is on AO3 and currently on its 36CH.  You can check that out HERE

It’s a Bakugou x OC!Latina story and it’s basically following the cannon and filling in those moments where the kids should be able to be kids.

Her name is Isabel Garcia and she is All Might’s best friend daughter. Although if you ask him that’s his little girl. She has a paralizing quirk and dreams about beeing an underground hero.

Anyway I have been making picrews about her and received some fan art. I will be posting it on this post and will place it in order I received it. If I receive more then I’ll make more posts like this.

THANK YOU TO THE ARTISTS THAT TOOK TIME TO MAKE THESE BEAUTIFUL DRAWINGS AND INTERPRETATIONS.

I APPRECIATE IT SO MUCH

SPOILER ALERT: if you wish to read the story then maybe wait till you see the chapter mentioning this post cause secrets be down here.

Another AO3 thing I’m curious about, how do yall decide if something is good enough to read? Usually I follow a rule of 1 kudos for every 10 hits. One because it’s easy math and two it’s yet to fail me. Thoughts? Do you just go for it and pray it’s good?

folks, don't do this one. do not look at kudos count. do not look at comment count. do not look at hits. you read the summary and see if it sounds like your cuppa. multi-chapter fics in particular suffer a lot from inflated hit counts because loyal fans will show up for every chapter, but only get one kudos apiece. literally just read the write-up and if it's bad, you'll know within a minute of clicking on it. give new works and chaptered works a shot

Nightshade

Guys, this is really easy. I just ran my first render on Nightshade, and it's very simple to use.

What is Nightshade?

It's software to "poison" the AI image-"generating" models which scrape your art without permission. It works by telling the AI software that this car is really a cow, or something similarly improbable, so that someone using that scraped art to "generate" a car will get a cow instead. This makes stealing art dangerous and costly and ineffective.

Thieving tech-bro: "That's so mean! They're poisoning our data!"

Hey, you know the absolutely guaranteed way to make sure you don't eat brownies full of laxatives? Don't steal brownies out of someone else's lunch in the break room fridge. This will only poison data that's stolen. Be ethical, be unaffected.

Download Nightshade here.

How To Use Nightshade

First, you can choose how intense to make the poison. :D It does increase render time, but that's okay, we know wars aren't won in a moment.

You can specify a tag for your primary image content ("fire," "rabbit," "forest," etc.) to establish content for the scrapers, and it reminds you to use this tag in the alt text and description, and in the post, for maximum impact.

Nightshade takes a while to download and then again to update libraries on first open, but that's a one-time thing. And then it takes a while to render, but again, we are here to preserve art and save the internet, so I can wait a bit to post.

And the output quality is good! Allegedly there are some image effects, but I'm not good enough to spot the difference when I have the before and after together.

Tips:

  • The guide says to run Nightshade last, after resizing, watermarking, etc. This will be most effective.
  • Do Nightshade before Glaze, if you choose to do both.
  • Render in PNG for best results but it's okay to convert to JPG after.
  • Remember to use your content tag in alt test, description, and your post! This is exactly where you'd be putting accessibility text anyway, so it's good practice with or without Nightshade.

Please share, please protect!

Note: I'm not an artist, I'm a writer, but I'm using Nightshade on promo images I'm putting together for a future project, because those software companies didn't buy that stock art either and I won't make it available to them for free on the license I purchased.

Please share, please protect!

(Now, speaking as a writer, I wish we had something similar for text!)

With this whole AI thing on Tumblr, I’ve been thinking about what to do.

I’ve decided I don’t want to leave. Pretty much no place on the internet is safe at this point, other than new, small apps where you won’t get much engagement. So, I want to stay on Tumblr. But I won’t post my writing anymore, since I can’t protect text like I can protect images with Glaze and Nightshade.

ATTENTION ARTISTS OF TUMBLR

this is a PSA for fic writers who haven't updated in a while :

there are fics out there I'm subscribed to that have gone double digit months without updating.

rest assured the moment those babies catapult an AO3 email my way i'm dropping from the face of the earth to sink my teeth into them

i'll wait, and so will your readers

So apparently some people new to Tumblr think a repost and a reblog are the same thing, so when they see creators asking for people to not repost, they're thinking the creators are saying to not reblog 😭

Y'all, a repost is when you copy/download the work and create a new post using the work making it seem as if it's yours. A reblog is you using a site provided feature to share the creator's post directly from the creator so that it's still credited to them and they still get all of the traction/notes from the work.

Please, reblog fics/art/etc. that you enjoy! Reblogging is not reposting! Creatives need support too, and reblogging is a way to do that!

I hope you understand how fucking discouraging this is.

You see this? These are all fandom posts, not even OC content.

I don't mean to guilt trip anyone when I say people should reblog art or else (and when I say art I don't mean only illustrations, writers, gift makers and any other kind of artist deserve recognition too). We, as artists, produce because it gives us something, but we also share, and seeing these numbers is MADDENING.

Likes don't do anything.

You see those reblogs? They're mostly self-reblogs to promote content.

I beg you, if you like a post, don't just LIKE IT, don't only hit the heart, REBLOG IT.

It's heartbreaking seeing a piece you've spent hours working on getting dismissed like that.

Amazingly good take right here folks

Fam, if someone tells you "nobody's gonna read your fic because it has OCs in it" you have my express permission to kick their teeth in.

Because Hi! Hello! ∠( ᐛ 」∠)_

I'm nobody apparently! How's it going?

Anyway, fuck that loser, we're going to OC-land!

bringing this back for posterity
